I'm trying to use Boot Camp to install Windows 7 Enterprise on a 2011 MacBook Pro, but most of the drivers aren't installing correctly.

Apparently, the only boot camp functions that work are restarting in Mac OSX and double-touch right-clicking, which I got after downloading the BootCamp 3.2 upgrade.
This means no sound, no Direct3d (though I've installed the Intel drivers manually and that's now working), no keyboard functions, and no internet access by ethernet port or wifi, which means I won't be able to activate Windows and this install will soon die a quiet death.

The Bootcamp Assistant version should 5.1.x. Please see Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions about installing Windows 8 - Apple Support and Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support.

  • HT3777 How to install Boot Camp on 32bit Windows 8 on a 2011 MacBook Pro?

I used Boot Camp to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview as the 2nd OS on my 2011 MacBook Pro. However after the installation I cannot install the additional Boot Camp just the drivers for webcam/wifi/ethernet/cardreader/display/chipset etc.
But I would like to be able to use the function keys to adjust the brightness and volume like on a normal laptop without having to go through settings.
    Anyone know how?

You need to install the Boot Camp Windows Support Software, but I have no idea which version of OSX you have so, if 10.6.x the software is on the OSX install disk, likewise for 10.5.x, if you are running 10.7.x (lion) it is a download from the Boot Camp Assistant.

  • Is it best to use Boot Camp or Native Windows 7 on a 2010 Mac Pro with Lion?

I'm wondering if there is a performance handicap when you use Boot Camp vs. the Windows 7 DVD to install directly on the hard drive? Also, can you minimize the Lion partition so it doesn't take up much of the drive? I have 4 internals and 2 eSATA externals and want to set up a dual use machine the best way possible. Windows 7 will be 64-bit. I already have XP virtuals running, so I want to have a 64 bit Windows install that uses my new mother ships resources to the fullest.
Kappy, I see you are around , can you please post your thoughts? Are you up north, or still down south sweating??
    Michael

You don't need Lion, and I would recommend treading very cautiously with even testing it out, on its own drive also.
Mac Pro comes closest to a native PC tower as any.
It is not and does not need laptop feature and functions. But any computer motherboard needs device drivers for chipsets, just not as much.
    OS Switcher is handy
AppleTimeService - would be "lost" without
Just format the drive with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Boot Camp Assistant 4 can download drivers, otherwise you need 10.6 DVD
BCA is one of the few ways to manage a Windows MBR, but not the only. But for most users spltting their one and only boot drive to be dual boot.
You do not need Mac OS on the drive along with Windows.
As for following directions, that usually helps, but not always in all cases.
Apple's drivers in any event don't get installed until after Windows is up and running, and the more (Apple) you add, like Safari 5.1 ( I would avoid 5.1 like the plague or at least look at Safari on Windows forum ) as it is buggy, and then all the other extras do slow things down and clog the wheels (Bonjour is talkative), and I disable and uninstall or just don't install what you don't need - especially where there is no custom install option.
After all that, Microsoft Security Essentials is a good pick, or Kaspersy 2011/2012 fine internet security suites.

  • Boot Camp problems with Windows 7, and a new Macbook Pro

When I try to install Windows 7, when the process is almost complete and Windows is finalizing all settings, the system reboots then gets stuck at the white/gray bootscreen, and then tries to boot from disk, only to repeat the bootscreen cycle indefinitely. How do I fix this? Thank you very much.

My MAC BOOK is 13 inch, first generation of unibody that I bought when it first came out last November, 2009. It seems that the latest boot camp 3.1 does not support windows7 64 bits on my mac book model. I followed Apple instruction to upgrade boot camp 3.0 when running XP 32 bits. And I then upgrade my XP 32 bits to 64 bit Windows 7. The upgrade/installation was successful but I encountered a lot of problems with the mouse and sound.
    1. No sound with my new Windows 7 64 bits.
    2. I managed to make Windows 7 64 bit recognize my apple mighty mouse. But the mouse does not funtion normal as expected. It does not work with swiping and scrolling.
    3. I could not re-install boot camp 3.0 from windows.old nor from the Mac OS X installation disk. When I tried to run setup.exe from the MAC OS X snow leopard, I got the error "Boot camp x64 is unsupported for this model"
I am really disappointed that boot camp 3.1 is not universally supported for all mac book or mac book pro.
I need help to re-install boot camp for my Windows 7? I bought the upgrade through education upgrade program and I selected to get 64 bit version so I do not want to rollback the installation to 32 bit.
    Please help.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

  • Cannot install Windows XP Professional on my MacBook Pro using Boot Camp.

Cannot install Windows XP Professional on my MacBook Pro using Boot Camp. When I get to the point of inserting the Windows disc and clicking 'Install' at the Boot Camp Assistant screen, it keeps telling me that it cannot find the Install Disc. The installation disc I am using is a new full install disc. I have tried to do the same thing using a Windows 7 disc with the same results. Does anyone have any answers. I am getting desperate!

Guys, I been in the business working on PC and MAC for years. So I am not green at this, I was looking for some kind of option to get past the boot loader..  Which is failing.
I know how to boot into these modes.. Done tons of research before posting and couldn't find anything.
It will not go into  Internet Recovery, or any thing else.  I hear the sound .. then that is it.. I get nothing else..
I have tried clearing the NVRAM which is Option + Command + P + R
    Still nothing..
So I thought I would try here to see if maybe there was some trick out there someone might know of that would work.
What else guys?  I am hitting th keys right..

Theres almost a trick to it for first time users, goto SETTINGS...General......Cellular (if Verizon) ....Personal Hotspot, turn it on.....turn on wifi on your Mac, select your Iphone.  Enter password.
If you take too long doing it, youll need turn turn off and on real quick the "personal hotspot" slider on the Phone.......then go quick again thur the Mac.

The computer has to be authorized for the account that purcchased the media.
What error message are you getting when you try to lauthorize the computer for that account?
Is there a way to find my Apple ID Name if I can't remember it?
Yes. Visit My Apple ID and click Find your Apple ID. See Finding your Apple ID if you'd like more information.

  • I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011 and I'm wondering if I install Windows 7 Ultimate to this MacBook Pro with this Full Retail Version. And if so, which bit to use either 32-bit or 64-bit since I have both disks.

    64 bit.
32 bit won't use all your computer's ram.
64 bit allows you to run 32 bit programs
    Your computer is 64 bit
    New programs use 64 bit.
There is no reason to use the 32 bit version of Windows.

  • Fatal Error Message Now when trying to use Boot Camp

I have a new issue that just cropped up. I have been using Boot Camp for some time when I just need to be concentrating on the XP Pro side of the system. However, I typically use Parallels and get in just fine. Yesterday, I attempted to use Boot Camp and go into the PC Side...the WIndows XP Pro emblem comes up duing the boot, and then I get a blue screen with the following message in white text...
    STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down.
Now, I have not tried to boot up in this since I installed Leopard. So my guess is that could be my problem. Any thoughts? Please let me konw...I need help. Thanks.

I think what Hatter was getting at is OS X gets really cranky when disk space is low, that is, below 10%. Try freeing some space on your drive.
Similarly, windows also gets cranky if it doesn't have enough VM space.
In both cases, you will see at minimum, slowdowns, and at worst, crashes.
How much ram is in your system, and how much have you allocated to windows?
windows does not run efficiently with less than 1gb.
The windows boot CD is an installer.
You should not get a C:\prompt when booting from the CD unless you select the option have entered the System Recovery Console.
The recovery console is good for some things, but you can hose the system even more if you are unsure of what you're doing there.
The repair option will replace some files on your HD - problem there is if you have installed security updates (hotfixes, patches, whatever) the file versions on the HD and the file version on the CD won't match, the repair process will complain, disallow the replacement, or outright fail.
The stop error you received is a big clue. Go to support.microsoft.com and search for that stop error. You'll get lots of hits, and it'll be tedious, but you'll get there.
Also, if you can get back into windows, go to control panels, administrative tools, event viewer. There will be 3-4 logs listed.
Search the system log for the date/time the stop error occurred. 2x click that entry. There will be more info there that will be useful on the ms support site.
If you cant find it, resort by the event type column and look for sysdump. That'll be log entry for the bluescreen error.

  • HT5639 if i use boot camp to establish windows on my Macbook pro can i then install a windows program and run it without another software ie parallels?

Can I use a windows program such as QuickBooks on my macbook pro 15inch with only using boot camp or do i need to have another program?

Boot Camp is everything you need to run a Windows application.
Boot Camp allows you to install Windows in a second volume, so you can start up there and run all your Windows apps without needing any Mac OS X app. It's true that OS X apps like Parallels or VMware Fusion allow you to use your Boot Camp partition in Mac OS X, but it looks like you don't want that

If the iMac is a 21-inch model, you need to use a product such as ScreenRecycler over a network.
If the iMac is a 27-inch model, click here and follow the instructions.

  • I am having a difficult time downloading HD movies from iTunes. I tried on both my imac and new macbook pro but 95% of the time I get error 8008 (corruption). I can stream HD content from Netflix and hulu w/o problems. I also empty my download folder.

After it started happening on my imac I tried to download on my ne macbook pro but the same thing is happening. I can stream without any ral noticiable problems from my icloud library, Netflix, and Hulu but when I try to download so I can back them up I get the 8008 error code. I have contacted spple support and am still waitin on an answer. Sometimes the error will happen towards the beginning and other times when it is almost downloaded. I can tell it is atarting when the time remaining starts to fluctuate, then the download bar may stop ans start over. It seems to be an icloud problem but I thought I would check to see if anyone else has had the problem and was able to get it taken care of. It should be noted that everyonce in a while I do get a complete download.

These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~)  refers to your Home directory.
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
