I'm using dreamweaver cc tutorials:

Select Edit > Paste Special, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+V (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+V (Mac).. If you copied from WordPad or TextEdit, the third and fourth radio buttons will be grayed out. I understand this but my problems is, the paste special command is grayed out as well so I can not use this function. I'm sung a MacBook Pro and textedit.  Thanks in advance to any feed back on my issue.

Paste Special is mainly used with formatted content from MS Office.   It provides you with an option to paste text only which is very handy for stripping out the MS junk.  If I'm copying & pasting from a text editor, I use Ctrl+V.

  • How to create a dynamic newsflash using dreamweaver and PHP

    Hi there,
I would like to create a dynamic newsflash using dreamweaver and PHP in that the newsflash will be pulling information from a MySQL database. The newsflash should also have a link to view more information about the piece of news a user wants to know more about. Which tools do I need to use in dreamweaver and how's the procedure to go about that. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanx in advance!

I think you´ll need at least a MySQL table with the following columns:
    - id (primary key, int, auto_increment etc)
    - news_headline (varchar)
    - news_teaser (text)
    - news_content (text)
What I´d personally add are columns such as:
    - news_date (date or datetime)
    - news_external_link (varchar), if a "read more..." link is supposed to navigate to an external URL rather than displaying the contens of the "news_contents" column.
Based on such a MySQL table it should be easy to use Dreamweavers standard Server Behaviors to create the usual datalist.php, insert.php, update.php and delete.php documents, and there are numerous tutorials out there which will teach you how to do that.
Am I right when assuming that you´ll also need to know how to automatically pull, say, the 5 most recent news records from the database ?

  • CS3 File Can't Be Opened using Dreamweaver 8

Just wondering if anyone out there has been able to open an
HTML file generated with Dreamweaver CS3 (PC) using Dreamweaver 8
    on a Mac?
When the CS3 user edits and saves an HTML file, the
Dreamweaver 8 user cannot open on our server.
We will be upgrading the Mac software in a few months but
have a need now to have two people edit the same files. One is on a
PC using Dreamweaver CS3 and the other is on a Mac using
    Dreamweaver 8.
Are there settings in CS3 to maximize compatibility with
    older versions?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Couldn't imagine that would do it, though, since DW is not
    rendering any of
    that.

  • Using Dreamweaver Templates

I'm trying to set up a portion of our site using Dreamweaver
CS3 so that I can allow others to edit it with Contribute. I've
created and applied the template to the pages. One of the things
that needs to be included in the template is a virtual include,
    i.e. <!--#include virtual="../../quicksearch.html" -->. For
some reason, it will look fine in the template, but when I update
the pages, it changes it to an absolute link to the C drive, i.e.
    <!--#include
    virtual="file:///C|/apachepages/admin/quicksearch.html" -->.
Tried changing it to use the actual url, i.e. <!--#include
    virtual="
    http://www.vims.edu/quicksearch.html"
-->. This returns an error in the page when it is viewed, i.e.
[an error occurred while processing this directive].
How do I fix this so that it works?! Is this a bug or am I
doing something wrong? Are there other ways to do this that I am
not thinking of? Any help figuring this out is appreciated.

By the way, that is improper syntax for a virtual include. It
    would have to
    be -
    <!--#include virtual="/quicksearch.html" -->
(assuming this is the correct root relative path)

  • Help!!Custom app. using dreamweaver

Let me start off by saying I am some what of a noob to what I
am trying to do here so bare with me.
What im trying to do is make a shop control app. for my
company using dreamweaver and excel. What I would like to do (but
not sure if it's possible) is make what I will call a "shell" page
using dreamweaver that will open and let me modify and save excel
spread sheets in ie or firefox. I would like to have 1 standard
spread sheet I can use for each part number we make, and the shell
page to open the spread sheet in what looks like a high end web
page and put the data in the appropriate place in the page so it
can be modified and saved back to the spread sheet.
So my question is, is this possible?
Let me know if you need any more explanation and any reply
    will be appreciate

What is your proficiency level with -
    1. HTML and CSS
    2. Server-side scripting
    3. Integration of databases with DW
The answers to those questions will determine the answer to
    the "if it's
possible" question. If the answers are -
    1. Slim
    2. None
    3. None
then I think you will need to consider hiring an experienced
    developer to do
    this work.

  • Seeking overall advice from web developers using Dreamweaver

I'm a fairly new web designer with skills based mainly in
HTML and CSS (externally linked) and style statements only, however
I have a big project ahead. My company will be asking me to develop
a database-driven, login-only website (we are wholesale only and
our customers require a state tax resale ID in order to even be
    able to purchase from us.)
I wish to continue using Dreamweaver however I do not know if
I need to learn PHP, ASP or SQL/MySQL for this scale of project. I
fully expect we will be hosted on a Windows server, but we have not
chosen an ecommerce software yet so I don't know what I should
    expect.
I am prepared to learn whatever works best at a
cross-platform capacity for our Mac users when we have some custom
Flash applets developed to integrate in.
If you were just getting started from ground zero, what would
you do? What would you recommend I invest my time learning?

I'd really agree with this. As a first foray into
    server-scripting, it will
prove completely debilitating, in my opinion.

  • New website using Dreamweaver

    Hello,
this is my first post here, i have created a website already using joomla (http://www.aeginamaisonettes.com)
but i would like to create a second one using dreamweaver for more styling features and possibilities, so i can have one business looking website and a more ''beautiful'' looking one.
Which product of adobe should i use? personally i am not a big fan of flash because it's not very SEF.
    thanks!

DW is pro-level web authoring software.  For best results, you'll need a basic knowledge of web design theory, HTML, CSS, and maybe some some client-side and server-side programming languages.  DW is only as good as the skills you bring to it. In addition, you'll probably want to get a good graphics editor like Photoshop or Fireworks to create images.

  • How can I trigger a lightbox slide show with a single image using Dreamweaver?

I'm trying to build a page for a cosmetics company in which clicking on a color swatch opens a lightbox-style slide show of model shots using that color makeup. Each swatch should trigger a different slideshow. I'm using Dreamweaver (CS6), and I'm sure there must be an easy way to do this, but I haven't figured it out yet. (It would be a snap in Flash, but alas, the site needs to work on a broad range of devices).
I'd appreciate any ideas, and please make your instuction easy to follow if possible—pretend you're talking to a dog, or an eighty-six-year-old—because I may not be as experienced as I ought to be. Probably not.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • How do i create a styled spry mysql driven menu using dreamweaver cs4?

How do i create a styled spry mysql driven menu using dreamweaver cs4?
I have cs4. I gave up on using MS sql as a datasource. I finally got a php successfull connection in my PHP web page.
I would like a nice video tutorial for creating a dynamic menu.
I guess i can style it by attaching a css file to the page. Are their any already designed css files out there in some online area?
i am not a good designer. so i would like to simply have a collection of menu_style.css files and choose what looks good.
But first i need to build the spry menu from the mysql database.
    Any help is apprechiated.
My first choice was to maintain the data in an MS sql server file. If i could directly attach to an ms sql datasource then that would be the best option.
I dont think i want to have to re-generate an XML datasource each time i add or modify the menu. I would like to maintain the MS Sql or mySql file instead.
If i could generate an XML datasource from the MS Sql database then I may even prefere that, but i have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to do that and not had any success. So i prefere working in MS sql but would settle for mySql if i had to.
    Thanks

  • How do I upload a finished website to Business Catalyst using Dreamweaver?

I've finished building a website that I want to publish on Business Catalyst for my client. I'm using Dreamweaver CC. There is an option for creating a new BC website, but I can't find a way to upload a finished site like I was able to in the older versions of Dreamweaver. Am I missing something?

A workaround that's available that involves a few steps.
    1. Print a network configuration page to get the printers host name.
    a. press the wrench in top right hand corner
    b. Select the wireless menu
    c. Scroll and select network configuration.
    d. Print network configuration page.
    2. Select start menu
    a. Go to my computer.
    b. At the top of the page select map network drive.
    c. In the drive box select a available drive letter.
    d. In the Path or Folder text box, type the following:
    \\ insert host name here\Memory_Card

  • How can I import a non-BC site into BC, using Dreamweaver CC, and then use it as one of my free sites?

I am trying to import one of my non-BC sites into BC, using Dreamweaver CC, and then use it as one of my free WebBasics sites.
When I try to create a new BC site in Dreamweaver CC, it creates a BC template site, and I have unsuccessfully tried to update the files on BC - it won't let me connect.
If I import the site from my portal, I don't get the option of a free site - when I try to upgrade, I get the credit card form asking for payment.
I feel like I'm running around in circles with one foot nailed to the floor.
    Any tips?

Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion.  I'm exporting the first section now.  I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie.  I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame?  If it can, what size should I select when I export?
