i need good gui in swing. i need to develope a small application of library management system where a librarian and manager access the database. librarian take care of add,del,modify the records of customer and books. with good login screens. and the manager is to generate reports

Yup, create one. Good exercise.
Doing it myself right now, am loosing track of my own collection ;)
Don't have the multi-user part in place yet, it's no priority for me (I'll be creating a readonly web interface as an alternative to the read/write Swing interface for remote access).

Hi,
Usually problems with hanaging CSA* queues are caused because too many
indiviaual queues are created for the qRFC resources to handle. You can
limit the number of queues as described in note 763680.
Note 763680 would be useful if all of your qRFC resourcesa are in use
when you have a great number of queues. With a large number of dialog
WPs on the system it would probably make sense to reduce the amount
as described in the note.
the casue when you have this problem would be to check SMQR -> GOTO ->
qRFC resources. You can also see if most of your dailog WPs are in use
in SM50.
Also refer to note 758677.
Please schedule report RSQIWKEX (Inbound) to run as described in the
note.
And since your title has mentioned that the EWA is on your CRM satellite system; this maybe a further good reference too
When you replicate lots of data from CRM to R/3, there could be a qRFC
resource problem. In this case, the numebr of queues created can be
reduced by implementing the attached note 356228, particularly solution
2.
For CSA* queues is slightly different from the one decribed in note;
this is because the CSA queues exchange data within the CRM system.
The steps described should be followed, except that table SMOFQFIND
must be used instead of CRMQNAMES. In this table, fields TR_SNAEMS and
SEGM_FLD are equivalent to the CRMQNAMES fieds BAPISTRUCT and BAPIFLD
respectively. It should be possible to follow the solution 2 in the
note as long as you use SMOFQFIND instead of CRMQNAMES.

Lot of this features are already implemented in Oracle Portal, Collaboration Suit and Oracle Content Management SDK.

Generally this products stores documents in database BLOB field.
I personally don't like this approach.
We developed a media library that stores the files in filessystem, but the metadata is in database. The database references to the file in filesystem with a BFile field

The system is very fast so I think it was a good decision to store the media this way.
If you use this approach you have to create database and filessystem backup also.
Filessystem backup is much faster and there are several very good tools to make an incremental backup.
If you store media in a database you can use Oracle Media types:

I'm looking for a document management system

Hi there,
I'm looking for a way to organize, sort, and make searchable about 1200 Microsoft Word Documents. The way our company uses them is to search for individual documents, and also to group them to create customized packets that are used for training.
Once a group is created, I need a way to print easily. The other problem is that 60% of the documents are designed for learning so they have an instructors filled in part, and a learners blank part.
Question 1: Should I separate each document, make the instructor version a separate file? Today, it is one file, with page 1 for the instructor and page 2 for the learner (some docs have more than one page.
Question 2: Does anyone know of a web plugin or app that will take a collection of word documents, and automatically combine them into 1?
2 years ago, we created a php searchable system and uploaded all docs into it. It workds pretty well for organizing, searching, grouping, and adding comments about the docs... BUT when it comes time to print, it only downloads a folder filled with all the SEPARATE word files. They are numbered, but because they are not one doc, page numbering is a bear, and each doc has a instructor and learner page... for printing, the trainer needs to tell the office staff which page to print for each handout. the instructor copy or leaner copy. Once a master is made, we photocopy it. So the question: Is there an easier way to create 1 file with all the pages? Like convert to PDF or to a single MS Word document?
Any suggestions are welcome!
PS: while we are an all mac shop, we do have a dedicated webserver running linux that we could use.
PPS: I will have interns this summer, so if the solution involves converting all of our MS word docs into something else like pages, I'm all for it...

It sounds to me like DevonThink might just replace the php system that you already have.
One way to tackle this might be to look at automating the combining process, rather than changing the overall management system. Various thoughts:
If the docs were pdfs, a program like CombinePDFs would let you drag and drop all the files onto a screen, re-order them if necessary, and then hit Merge (actually, I think Preview would let you do this, in Leopard). That might help. However, I don't think it would put on page numbers.
I'm pretty sure Acrobat would let you combine the PDFs and add page numbers, or perhaps take the combined pdf file and just add page numbers to that. (Not sure if this might require Acrobat for Windows)
Alternatively, you could tweak the docs themselves so that they use a form of chapter numbering, eg: "PDF Introduction-1, PDF Introduction-2" and "PDF-Advanced-1, PDF-Advanced 2" and then not worry about the page numbers. I wouldn't exactly recommend this, as it's pretty useless to say "turn to page PDF-Intermediate 3" and have people find that page, but it's been done.
Since they are already Word docs, though, it might be best to stick with Word. Word 2008 has Automator and Applescript, and it should be possible to write an Automator or Applescript such you just drop the documents on an Automator app, and it combines them, adds or updates the page numbers, maybe creates a Table of Contents, and spits out an assembled document.
That said, I don't know how to do that. There is a Combine Word Documents automator action, certainly. You could try asking over in the Word forums:

This will work best if all the docs are formatted consistently, based on the same template. If they are not consistently formatted, then the formatting will probably change when you combine them in Word, and that would be an argument for converting them to PDF before combining them. It should also be possible to create an Automator action that will convert all the docs in a folder to PDF.
I doubt there is going to be anyway to automate the instructor/learner copy--someone will have to do that manually, but it does suggest that if you create separate files for each one, it will be easier to do the search, download the found files from the resulting folder, and then manually just delete the learner file from the folder rather than having to open up the instructor file and delete part of it.
So, some potential experiments to try. Hope that helps.

Set start path for vi library manager

One thing that annoys me if I'm using LV, is the start-path of the vi library manager.
When I'm working on a vi, I'd like the vi library manager tha start with the directory path of this vi (or llb). But everytime I start it, I find myself in the LV-directory. This was ok if I just start LV and then open the library manager, but it's so annoying if I'm working on a project and want to change a llb.
Is there any setting to change this or is this just in LV 7.0?

It does not work if I have to set a static path. I want the library manager to open in the current directory if I'm working on a vi.
For example if I work on a vi which is located in C:\Project\LV\2005\Teststand1\testvi.vi, I want the library manager to open the path C:\Project\LV\2005\Teststand1. If I work on an other vi, I want the library manager to open the path of this other vi.

Need good quality printer/scanner for Mac Pro

I have read other posts and can't seem to find a solid answer. I need a good quality printer/scanner to use for my business. I scan old pictures and edit them together with music and video. I am looking for printer/scanner that can do this with great quality, and also be able to print onto printable DVD's.
Any suggestions?

Help needed regarding GUI in swings

I have n application which extratcs .ear (say abc.ear) in temporary folder. then from there a vector is created from that temporary folder containg the name of contents of .ear
That vector is used to populate the JSCrollPane and then this scroll pane is set on JSplitPane.
The problem is it is working fine in jdk1.4. but in jdk1.5 the GUI is not visible.
Can anyone give some suggestion for that.

If you need further help then you need to create a "Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program" that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.

My client has a project requirement and i am thinking of proposing sharepoint for their requirement.I need some selling points for proposing sharepoint.

Client has huge documents stored in the File system in windows server(800GB-Scanned copy of drawings stored in tif format)
For each of the scanned drawings there is a 3 page details that needs to be filled, which will go and sit in the oracle DB.These pages are created using power builder.These pages capture the details like search details for each drawing, a common file number
that is mapped between the information in the DB(Oracle) and the scanned copy.
There is a search UI where the user will be able to search through the drawings.When user clicks on search, the information from the oracle DB is searched and based on the common file number the scanned drawing is displayed in the search results.The drawing
is displayed in tif format and each drawings might run into multiple pages.
The search page is provided in clients Intranet portal created using oracle application server.
The entire application is security trimmed.

Problem in Creating data for HCM Talent management System Risk of Loss data

I am trying to enter data for Risk of Loss in HR HCM TMS. Does anybody know in which SAP portal Release this functionality is delivered i have SAP portal 7.00 with JEECOR and JEE and with SP 16. i think all the new functionality delivered in SAP ECC6 EHP4 is supported in SAP portal 7.00 with NW EHP1. there are however a number of basic things that should be looked at under talent management -> basic settings. Particularly for the "assessment landing" page to work it involves integration between the central person and the SAP business partner. This is the first step in spro, under tm -> basic settings.

Suggestions for 'cpanel' type management system for OEL?

I am probably going to get shot to bits on here for asking about this - but I am interested to know if anyone has tested / used any 'panel' type systems on OEL.
For large multi customer hosting operations, where you sometimes want to give the customer partial control of the server (basic tasks such as restarting services, adding websites, etc) it's not always possible to simply give them a shell and tell them to get on with it - that usually causes more problems!
So. Management panel for OEL?

How to setup approval procedure for extended transport management system?

We got dev and QA system in our ECC system landscape.
We got extened transport control activated between dev and qa system.
In cosolidation taget group i got 2 clients from dev and one qa golden client listed in this target group.
Havoing said that, i would like to set up approval process in such a way that before the transports released from dev golden client,they should pass the approval steps.
How would i configute that?.I was trying to search for notes or help links to help me with this task.
But i could not find anything.
