I need help resizing my Minimize and Maximize buttons when in Full Screen mode. They are almost too small to see!

When in Full Screen mode on Mozilla Firefox, the Minimize, Maximize, and Close buttons are extremely small. How do I change the size of these buttons?

Java APPLET minimize and maximize button

im using java 1.3 and ie4.0 or ie5.5, i would like to know if there is any way i could remove or at least disable the minimize and maximize button for the APPPLET window for the toolbar..i tried using setResizable(false) but it doesnt work..well if i tried it in the appletviewer , it actually worlks for the maximize button(it disables the maximize button), but if i try it in the browser, it doesnt work at all... please help

At least on Linux, JDialog's don't have a resize functionality. So you could do the thing you want to do with a JDialog (or maybe plain java.awt.Dialog), and everything will be fine!

Missing close, minimize, and maximize buttons

I'm using OS X 10.7.4 Lion-- and have been unable to add back the minimize and other buttons when on webpages via Safari or in Mail.
I've tried rebooting, repair disk permission, but nothing seems to bring it back.
I seem to have a totally white screen, whereas I used to be able to see the background and have multiple windows. I also cannot keep the dock
visable- need to scroll below it to bring it back.
And the toolbar stays hidden until I scroll upwards.
Have googled for solutions, but nothing seems to come out of this that helps. I can only think that my problems are related, since none of
these situations used to occur.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I think you've accidently zoomed the screen. Hold the Control key down and scroll with your mouse or trackpad.

Where is the minimize and maximize buttons?

I'm using Acrobat version 8 and the standard windows XP minimize and maximize buttons are gone from the top right hand corner of the window which means I have to resize the window manually. There IS the "x" button to close the window if I wanted to but that's it. This happened once before in version 7 but then the buttons came back somehow. I'm on Windows XP and all of my other programs work fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

I fixed my own problem...finally. I'm using a third party add in called PDFlyer. In the options window for that program is a checkbox for "hide minimize/maximize box". That was the trick.

You can disable them (removed on some early windows versions), if you make your window non-resizable.
Otherwise you would have to override the Window or JWindow class to make your own frame-like window.

In my experience, the code created by graphics apps is less than satisfactory. And image based menus are very awkward for several reasons.
#1 If you decide to change your menu later, you must go back to your graphics app and re-craft the whole thing. After 2-3 times of this, it gets old in a hurry.
#2 Image based menus cannot be "seen" by search engines, screen readers and language translators.
#3 CSS styled text menus are better for your site's visibility, accessibility and they are a snap to edit in Dreamweaver.
That said, if you're still married to image based menus, use Fireworks to create images only. Use Dreamweaver's Image Rollover Behaviors to create your rollover scripts.

My firefoz opens but opens a transparent window that only has the close,minimize and maximize buttons.

So my firefox has been running well but when i updated my computer, it stopped working. when i double click the icon, it opens a blank transparent window with only the maximize, minimize and close buttons. you cannot even tell its firefox. it does not display any error messages and installing again does not work.

please also do an in-depth scan of your system with the security software already in place and/or a different tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & keep firefox and your plugins up-to-date in order to stay safe on the web.

Aspect ratio wrong and different from QT in full screen mode

Hi all,
I created a video using anamorphic records from my camcorder in Final Cut Express HD. QT displays the final movies (MPEG 4 H.264) just fine in either partial or full screen mode. When played in Front Row, the video height is stretched. Any ideas why or how to fix?
Movies are being played on a Mini connected to a 40" LED TV with 1366x768 resolution.

It is true you can change the properties but it appears that Front Row expects all movies to have square pixels and thus displays all pixels as square. QT did/does understand the anamorphic properties and display movies correctly.
As an aside to all, the previous solution was to generate all movies at 853x480. This results in a green bar on the 853rd column (at least when generating using Final Cut Express HD). I regenerated the movies at 852x480 and the bar went away. No other noticable effects.

Missing Minimize and Maximize buttons

Since I upgraded to 1.1 I have lost the Min and Max buttons that are usually at the top right hand side of the toolbar. Anyone else seen this problem? I am running Win XP.

My Close, Minimize, and Maximize buttons disappear at random, have to restart firefox to get them back. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Don't really think I can clarify any better, my Minimize, Maximize, and Close buttons disappear at random leaving a little blank spot. Can't figure out why.

When you say minimize, are describing something like on a PC or when it minimizes do you see the page in dock?
If you look at the lower right hand corner of an open window, you'll see a tirangular shape, you can click on this triangle and drag the window to a new size. You can fill up your entire screen by positioning your window and then dragging the corner to size it.
I think this is what you meant... Rick
BTW - the red dot closes - the yellow minimizes - the green optimizes the window so no horizontal scrolling is needed

How do I position the back and next buttons in a full screen lightbox

I'm working on a portfolio website, and it has five sections (each section is 1440px wide). I am trying to put in a full screen lightbox for some images. When I adjust the settings for the lightbox, I am just keeping the Back and Next buttons. However, when I put the buttons in one place, they either appear in a different position in the browser, or just don't appear at all. Maybe there's a technique I am missing with regards to putting the buttons in a place most computer browsers will be able to find it. (Pictures of the problem are below, and they use the sample pictures for the slideshow, but it doesn't make a difference what pictures are in there.
Muse document. The arrows are pink and can be seen on the left and right sides.
Web Browser Preview. No arrows, even though they're in the Muse document.

I see that you are using a long page with slideshow in lower section of the page. Navigation arrows are placed around 3200 , so when you will scroll the page down you can view the next and previous buttons.
Try to change navigation arrows and then check.

Need help: my Ibook fell and can't get up! (screen dim, have run tests)

Cross posted from displays, but I have found it is not a "display" issue:

First: I have searched and tried several things...
OK, I took a fall commuting on my bike and my poor Ibook, nestled away it its laptop holder in my backpack, suffered the consequences (not to mention the road rash on my elbow and knee- but that is for a different forum).
When I pulled it out I found that the lid does not close securely. Then when I opened it I found the issue of the text being white and background as very dark. After some searching I found this to be the nocturnal mode and switched it off.
Then the problem was that the display was VERY dim. I can use the machine but it is like using it on the (near) lowest brightness setting. I hooked the machine up to the projector unit in a classroom and it projects the same as the display. So, its not an issue with the display itself (me thinks).
I tried to do a PMU reset (shift, control, option, power) and it seems to have done nothing.
Are there other ideas? Next steps. I can cope with the computer like this as it is generally my writing machine, but a fix would be nice. Also, I am concerned about whether or not it may be a logic board problem flesh wound which is waiting to one day die on me. I am doing backups often just in case...
Any help would be great.
Edit Update:
Everything has worked as normal except the display for the past 2 weeks.
I ran the Hardware Test Diagnostic Disc and NO issues were found, everything passed.
As there are no hardware issues found I am considering backing up and reformatting to see if this may do the trick.
Really any help would help. I am tentative paying for a fix as I bought it four years ago from apple refurb site for $700 and if it needs a pro fix I would consider putting the money into a new machine.

Actually, I don't think it could be the backlight because I can see the contents of the display without a flashlight. In fact indoors I can still see it well enough as long as the room is dim. And I can still back the brightness off a bit with the brightness adjustment button (F1).

Couldn't you just extend JFrame in that case, passing the owner as a c'tor argument and sending messages about the occuring actions to it using that reference in overridden methods, before calling super?
