I need the names of the folders inside a folder

I have this path: '/var/lib/squidguard/db/blacklists/' and inside this folder (blacklists) I have a bunch of other folders, I need their names. How can I get this?

I used listFiles(), it worked! thanks!You might have done better to use
public File[] listFiles(FileFilter filter)
where the filter is defined to just accept folders.
For example
        File[] childDirectories = parent.listFiles(new FileFilter()
            public boolean accept(File file)
                return file.isDirectory();

How does iPhoto v. 8 name the folders inside iPhoto Library?

iPhoto used to name the folders (holding original photos) the same as the event name. Now it seems to use the date of the photo, but does not change the folder name to the event name. Is this the case with the newer version?

Yes. iPhoto 09 no longer has a strict correlation between the Events in the iPhoto Window and the Events in the Originals Folder. However, it doesn't matter as you never access the Orignals folder anyway. If you want to create a folder of your Events simply select and event and export it: File -> Export.

I need the Folders Pane to remember where I left it

As a heavy Thunderbird user at work, the single most frustrating thing about Thunderbird is the Folder Pane resets to the top every time I do anything. This is extremely annoying as I have to stop and find the folder every time I read/copy/move/etc. Outlook is not that way and remembers where you left it. Is there a way I can fix this or an addon or something? Can you please add a feature to remember folder position?

Perhaps you are not seeing the problem because you don't have enough folders to make the folder pane scroll.
If I leave and come back to thunderbird x days later yes the folder pane will still be there. I am not talking about the folder pane leaving or going somewhere else. I am talking about the list of folders inside the folder pane scrolling up and down. If I scroll down I want it to stay where I scrolled it when I am reading and moving emails.

Where guaglanto1 is the title of the favoriteFolder.This code show the CUID,name,kind and children of the favoriteFolder. once you get the SI_ID or SI_CUID of the favorites folder you need to write an additional query to pull all its children using:
select * from ci_infoobjects where si_parentcuid='<si_cuid of favorites folder>'
If the favorites folder contains folders with subfolders, this will be a recursive call. You can use query://{select....} or path://
Look at the BIPlatform documentation in API reference and there is more information on how to use query:// or path://

Need efficient queries to retrieve reports inside a folder

Case 1:
To retrieve reports in a particular folder -
I am currently using 2 queries -
a) retrieving parentid given a folder name
b) retrieving all reports given the above parent id.
Can I combine these into 1 query ?
Case 2:
I also need to retrieve all reports within a given folder and subfolder. Can this be done with 1 query?
or do I need to retrieve all objects in the folder and then iterate in a loop
if folder exists and retrieve the reports.

Select COUNT (SI_ID) From CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_KIND = 'CrystalReport' and SI_PARENT_FOLDER = 22826 and SI_INSTANCE = 0

Just moved to Mac from Windows, so far biggest headache is the way folders are treated. I manage several very large websites and involve a lot of files within folders and I need the folders to show the date the last file inside it was changed?

In my FTP client I can click to sort by date modified which is fine if you are in a folder and then it shows the file dates correctly - but any folders within the root folder don't they seem to display randomly all together at the bottom of the list and it is a nightmare trying to find what folders have files in them that have been changed.
Is there any way to get the folder to register the last date of a file within it that was modified?

I dont know the answer yet, but i have noted what appears to be a bug in 10.9 in how it handles folder dates. Right now i am seeing folder modified dates changing randomly ot "today" - whatever date the parent folder was opened.
In the past my folders "modified" date was always the same as the last modified date of the items within. But this only moved down ONE level - if a subfolder's entries were updated the "gradfather" folder did not update.
But now severa people are reporting random, incorrect folder dates. I hoep this will be corrected soon, but who knows?

Do I need the Application Support: Logic folder for GarageBand?

I use GarageBand 10.0.1, but not Logic. Today, I noticed a Logic folder in Application Support that's almost 800MB. The largest sub-folder is EXS Factory Samples (637MB), which contains "Drum Kit Designer", "01 Acoustic Pianos" and "07 Guitars". Since I don't use Logic do I need these folders? If I delete the Logic folder, will it have any effect on GarageBand?

GarageBand 10.0.1 uses Logic samples (that are kept in the Logic folder you've mentioned). I would not delete those .

I have back up folders which date from 2012. I thought they were old until I opened it up and inside the folders have dates that precede it.

So does this mean if the folders inside don't change names, it would mean the date is kept as is in the main folder?
Why is this the case? It is so hard to see from the dates which are my latest folders to back up to.

I clicked on catalogue settings and clicked 'show' and it pointed to one of the folders inside that backup folder on the 1TB...i thought they were backups?? Where should my catalogue be?
Your catalog can go anywhere on any attached hard drive (not a networked hard drive) but usually you would put it on the fastest drive available, which would be your internal drive.
I tried taking the Folder out of the 1TB that is named Backups but then when i open lightroom it says the current catalogue is missing and asks for me to open a new one. So i put it back in the 1TB folder in the same place and opened lightroom went to recent catalogues and chose it, its back and all is intact.
You are going to have to move the working catalog file out of that folder. Even though you have found what appears to be the working catalog in the Backups folder, that is the working catalog. Move it to somewhere else, outside of the LIghtroom folder, using your operating system, and then double-click on it to open Lightroom.

I have attempted re creating the setup using several blog posts including:

If I turn ADFS authentication off on the Work Folders server I can successfully connect and setup work folders on a domain joined computer, however as soon as ADFS authentication is enabled I get the above error.

I assume it will work by selecting Windows Authentication instead of ADFS in step shows in following picture.
The article also mentioned that the certificate is needed in following computers.
The self-signed AD FS certificate will need to be exported and installed on the following machines in the test environment:

Import media dialog is not showing me folders, instead showing me every singe file that's inside all of the folders on my desktop? What gives?

So i'm trying to import media that's on my desktop, one clip that's inside a folder. when I choose import media and the dialog box opens, I choose desktop to navigate to the folder but there are no folders found. FCP starts loading all of the files individually that are inside all of the folders on my desktop. I can't for the life of me figure out why it's doing this. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

DSounds like you have a folder on the desktop with the name of a camera folder something like DCIM or PRIVATE that makes the application read the containing folder the Desktop as if it were a camera drive.
