Inserting columns from internal table to a database table!

Hi people,
How do I go about to insert columns from an internal table -intab- into an data base table -dbtab-. These tables contain some similar columns, not all.
A code example would be much appriciated!

Effect
Mass insert: All lines of the internal table itab are inserted in one single operation. The lines of itab must fulfill the same conditions as the work area wa in variant 1.
When the command has been executed, the system field SY-DBCNT contains the number of inserted lines.
The Return Code is set as follows:
SY-SUBRC = 0:
All lines successfully inserted. Any other result causes a runtime error.
Note
If the internal table itab is empty, SY-SUBRC and SY-DBCNT are set to 0 after the call.

If a line cannot be inserted, the system does not

Insert the entire table at atime rather than a record so as to increase the performance.
you can use INSERT <dbtabname> CLIENT SPECIFIED FROM TABLE itab.
or
MODIFY ZPRODUCT FROM TABLE GI_AFPO.

I am from Java background and learnt ABAP, I don't usually write much ABAP code.
I am trying to implement the following logic in a RFC now.
I have one z-custom database table, the structure as the following:
It has two columns, with these sample data.
Says datable table is ZEMPMGRTAB.
EmployeeID,ManagerID

user4,user2
user2,user1
The logic is this:
I have a input parameter, userid. I am using this parameter to have a select statement to query the record into export table,EXPTAB 'LIKE' table ZEMPMGRTAB.
SELECT * FROM ZEMPMGRTAB
into table EXPTAB
   WHERE EMPLOYEEID = USERID.
Say, my parameter value, USERID ='USER4'.
Referring to the sample data above, I can get the record of this in my EXPTAB,
EmployeeID,ManagerID
user4,user2
Now, I want to iterately use the EXPTABLE-ManagerID
as the USERID input in SELECT statement, until it has no return result. Then, insert the new records in
EXPTAB.
In above new loop case, we will get this table content in EXPTAB,

[ECC6] Inserting data from internal table (deep structure) into db table

I have a problem when inserting data from IT using deep structure into a database table. Please help:
I have one database table with 2 columns ZTest (col1, col2). Col1 is key.
In my program I have a deep structure t_screen using table type lvc_t_scol:
In 4.6c systems, the INSERT statement works well but it does not work in ECC6 systems.
DATA: BEGIN OF t_screen OCCURS 0,
 rec_count(3) TYPE n,
 col1 LIKE ZTest-col1,
 col2 LIKE ZTest-col2.

Currently I have an idea using a temporary internal table with the same structure as ZTest. Use MOVE-CORRESPONDING statement to move data from t_screen table to temporary table before inserting --> It worked. But do you have any ideas without using temporary table?

There are a large number of stataments couldn't be supported in unicode system and so it doesn't allow to do it in ECC 6.
U need to delete the deep structure from your defination:
DATA: BEGIN OF t_screen OCCURS 0,
 rec_count(3) TYPE n,
 col1 LIKE ZTest-col1,
 col2 LIKE ZTest-col2.
DATA: ct TYPE lvc_t_scol. "<-------- Error is here
DATA: END OF t_screen.
So u need to use a structure like this to update your table:
DATA: BEGIN OF T_ZTEST OCCURS 0,
 rec_count(3) TYPE n,
 col1 LIKE ZTest-col1,
 col2 LIKE ZTest-col2.
DATA: END OFT_ZTEST.

Insert data from internal table to ztable.

Hello Expert,
I have a ztable with a primary key, now i want to pass my data from the internal table to the ztable . I am using modify option to
pass the data to the ztable but the problem is if the primary key value is same then its update the first record rather add one row in the zrable .But i want to push all the data what are available in the internal table though all the data are same. I even tried with Insert statement but its seems it doesnot work.
Can you please advice me the right approach.

It is all about the primary key fields of the database table.
Example:
You have a db table with following fields
MANDT (primary key field)
BUKRS (primary key field)
BELNR (primary key field)
GJAHR
VBELN
and it with same fields.
MANDT BUKRS BELNR GJAHR VBELN
120 0010 160000 2008 450000
120 0010 160000 2007 450003
120 0020 160000 2008 450000
200 0010 160001 2008 450001
200 0010 160001 2007 450001
If you use INSERT statement, only 3 of these will be inserted into the database table, why?
Because: Each database table must include one or a very small group of key fields that uniquely identify each table line by its value. These fields are known as the primary keys of the table.
And as lines 1 and 2 / 4 and 5 have the same MANDT BUKRS and BELNR only one will be inserted into the table.
If the database table is your own one, you will need to modify it so that it would work.

Can not insert or update [TABLE] from internal table in method

I've faced a problem with OO abap. I've tried to insert into [ TABLE ] from internal table, but i've got error msg after i compiled.
"An explicit work area is necessary in the OO context. Use "INSERT wa INTO [TABLE] itab""

I think there is no difference in database insert between OO and non-OO.
The correct syntax according to ECC600 online documentation is

To insert several lines into a database table, use the following:
INSERT target FROM TABLE itab \[ACCEPTING DUPLICATE KEYS].
This writes all lines of the internal table itabto the database table in one single operation. If one or more lines cannot be inserted because the database already contains a line with the same primary key, a runtime error occurs. You can prevent the runtime error occurring by using the addition ACCEPTING DUPLICATE KEYS.
Whenever you want to insert more than one line into a database table, it is more efficient to work with an internal table than to insert the lines one by one.
I think the syntax
INSERT my_dbtable FROM TABLE gi_data.
should work, your suggestion may lead to syntax error.

Modify database table from internal table

Hi All,
I need to update database table from internal table which is having around 30000 records.
I am using MODIFY tabname FROM TABLE int_tabname...
Using this statement, I can modify the databse records very well. But user has some additional requirement.
He wants that the table should be modified from the internal table and after modification we should have the erroneous records to be displayed if any.
e.g. if 1500 records out of 30000 are erroneous then only 28500 records should be updated and 1500 records should be displayed as erroneous records so that the user can correct them and use them again for executing the program.
Is there any FM which imports the database table name and internal table, modifies the database and exports an internal tanle with erroneous records?
Any help will be appriciated,

How to determine most recent date from the date column of internal table

Dear friends
would you like to tell me. how i determine the most recently changed record by looking at date and time from internal table i am not supposed to sort the table by date and time... I must check date and time with other records date and time to determine which record is most recently changed...
here the scenario is.
id idnumber chdate chtime
1 123456 20060606 135312
2 123456 20060606 135900
3 123456 20060606 132300
4 123457 20060606 140000
5 123457 20060606 142500
in the above scenario i must keep in my mind that the most recently changed record is identical to its idnumber i can say that:
the record should be fetched this way
id idnumber chdate chtime
3 123456 20060606 132300
5 123457 20060606 142500
because here the id 3 is the most recently changed in the idnumber 123456
where id 5 is the most recently changed in the idnumber 123457
please help me to determin how i am supposed to carry out this task any suggestion, code will be great help of mine.

After testing my suggestion above, I realized that it doesn't work because the delete adjacent actually will keep the first one and delete the rest. I'm working with Srinivas's code a bit now, I think it is almost what you want. I am under the impression that you dont' want to HIGHest date/time, but just the last record of the sequence, if this is the case, then this code will help. Here we will assign an index to each record per the idnumber, that way we can sort it and get the lastest record.

Update databse from internal table statement not using index

Hi Guys,
We are updating a databse table from a file. The file has a couple of fields which have data different from what the database has (non-primary fields :). We upload the file data into an internal table and then update the database table from internal table. At a time, internal table is supposed to have 10,000 records. I did SQL trace and found that the update statement is not making use of the databse index.
Should not the update statement here be using the table index (for primary key)?

... as often there are recommendations in this forum which makes me wonder, how people overestimate their knowledge!!!
Updates and Deletes do of course use indexes, as can be seen in the SQL Trace (use explain).
Inserts don't use indexes, because in many databases inserts are just done somewhere, But also with the INSERT, the primary key is the constraint for the uniqueness condition, duplicate keys are not allowed.
Coming to the original question, what is you actually coding for the update?
What is the table, which fields are in the internal table and what are the indexes?

Import from internal table

Dear Experts,
I need a solution for importing from an internal table.
Two variables I_EXP01 and I_EXP02 containing an xml stream have been exported to the database using the following syntax
and depending on the size of I_EXP01 and I_EXP02 two or more entries are created in table LTEX.
EXPORT
         L_SAPRL
         I_EXP01
         I_EXP02
TO    DATABASE LTEX(LT)
                       ID LS_LTEXKEY.
But now i have a few entries of table LTEX in an internal table and they need to be imported from the internal table.
What would be the syntax to import from internal table so that after importing I can de-serialise the data from XML to ABAP.
