I need to create pdf to certain printer standards - how do I do it?

I am creating an advert and never before have I been asked to do the following:
(They have attached the relevant files in the email for me but I have no idea how to do it. A step by step guide for dummies would be greatly appreciated. I am working on Windows)
Hereby the profiles (in zip files) which are needed to maken a certified pdf to our printer standards
-------------------------------------------------------------------->
Change the profile for images in Photoshop:
ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc
Place in the Library: Application Support  -  Adobe  -  Color  -  Profiles -
-------------------------------------------------------------------->
Make a pdf in InDesign:
WebCmykHiRes_1v4_IND4.joboptions
Place in the Library: Application Support  -  Adobe  -  Adobe PDF  -  Settings  -
This profile is already fully confirm to our printer standards. (you don't have to change anything)
Choose this profile for PDF (Export) this preset WebCmykHiRes_1v4_IND4.
If it does not apear in inDesign, import Document, Presets Adobe PDF
-------------------------------------------------------------------->
Check the pdf in Pitstop:
WebCmykHiRes_1v4.ppp
Browse the profile in Enfocus Pitstop when you want to certifie your pdf.
Mistakes will show and explaned in a status report.
EDIT: It seems like they have given me steps to follow, like place in library, etc. but even this I don't know where to find. Could this be a mac/windows difference? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the instructions seem a little vague. For example, where it says "change the profile" I think it means to choose Edit > Convert to Profile. But you should verify that because there are other possible interpretations of "change the profile."

Yes, you have been given Mac instructions. The [username]/Library/Application Support path does not exist in Windows. In general, where it says to look in [username]/Library/Application Support, in Windows you should instead look in [username]/AppData/Roaming/ . You might find the following document useful as a guide, because it compares Mac and Windows folder paths for the same files: Preference filenames and locations in Photoshop CS6

    I am unable to create pdf using adobe printer to a redirected folder on a server running windows server 2003

    In the app-server-ant.xml file, as indiacted in the error message i am getting, at line 145 it is suppose to get the path to \bin\asadmin.bat from the value of a paramater called 'asadmin'. This value is being set in the beginning of the file.
    The parameter value of 'asadmin' is further referring to value of another parameter called 'javaee.home' which is being set in tut-install/javaeetutorial5/examples/bp-project/build.properties
    I have checked the values of both these parameters and they are set correctly, so since it is still giving me problems, at line 145 i hard coded the path instead of the parameter name:
    I replaced line
    <exec executable="${asadmin}" failonerror="${failonerror}" dir="${javaee.home}">
    with
    <exec executable="c:/sun/appserver/bin/asadmin.bat" failonerror="${failonerror}" dir="${javaee.home}">
    This works.

  • Cannot Create PDF Acrobat 9.4 Standard Windows 7, 64 bit

    Hi,
    Currenlty my colleague and I have the same issue; we cannot create PDF documents using Acrobat 9.4 Standard or the office plug in, and there is no PDF printer available after the acrobat installation either.
    We are both using Windows 7, 64 bit version. I have checked and confirmed Acrobat 9 on Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2007 should be compatible.
    * When using the 'Create PDF from file' feature from Acrobat we get the following error: "Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?"
    I have run the installer in repair mode multiple times, same isssue occurs after this is done.
    * When using the Acrobat plug-in for office, for example in Word (we both use Office Professional 2007) and selecting 'Create PDF' it will prompt for a save location, after select save nothing happens, and there is no PDF file created in the save locaton.
    So far I have tried the following without any success:
    - Un-installing and re-installing acrobat, multiple times
    - running the acrobat application in compatability mode for Windows XP
    - attempted to create PDF files from older word versions i.e. .doc and .docx have the same issue
    - attempted to manually install PDF printer using the acrobat installation files - did not work
    * I am aware that Office 2007 will allow me to save a document as PDF, however we still need acrobat for the publishing quality and editing features.
    Any help or suggestions regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated :-)
    Kind Regards,
    Wade

    I understand what you are suggesting. I have two laptops the same model. AA works on one but not the other.  I do have office 7 and a 64 bit OS.
    Thanks for the help

    If you are running a 64-bit version of OFFICE 2007 (if one exists), that may be the issue. AA X did not work with that version until the most recent release as I understand it. Since you have AA 9.4, I am not sure of the compatibility of it with the 64-bit version. It is strange that the printer does not appear. It seems a few others have had similar problems and as I recall, someone made a suggestion to fix that recently -- though it may have been for AA X. You might search on 64-bit or such.

  • Need help creating pdf contracts: Reader vs. Acrobat

    I am needing some help regarding creating pdf contracts to send to clients. It will basically need to have info input by 2 different parties, the catering company and their client. I am on a Mac and will be originally creating the pdf contract. It will then be used by a catering company, who is using Windows. They will need to input information into this contract, such as dates, client info, prices, menus, etc. Then, they will email it to the client (probably using Windows) for their electronic signatures, ability to print for their files, etc., and then return the signed pdf to the catering company.
    I have been going through Reader and Acrobat to see which application would be better to use. In Acrobat, I exported the pdf to Word to input info, but Word changes the appearance/formatting of things. The catering personnel don't need to have to rearrange the appearance, they need something they can simply fill in info on. Is there a way around this?? I then made a new pdf and the rest of the process seemed to function okay.
    In Reader, I couldn't find a way to export to Word in order to fill in info and create a new pdf...is this correct? So it seems that I would have to create forms for both parties originally, then have the catering company fill out their portions, and then send the pdf onto the client to fill in their portions. But, if the client highlights the fields, all will be highlighted, not just the ones they need to complete. And, would they be able to alter the fields that the catering company filled out?
    Could somebody PLEASE help me out with the logistics of this process???
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    Boy - it's been a year and a half since you asked this question!  So not sure if you're still out there.....
    Looks like no one replied.  Did you ever figure it out?  I need to do the same thing...

  • How to creat pdf documents with printing restrictions in Aperture

    Hi,
    I wondered if it is possible to create a pdf document made up of 9-12 image per page contact sheets, to send to clients that restricts the client to open and view only i.e no printing allowed.
    Photoshop allows this, however i would like to create /correct versions in aperture and then create a pdf [with the above printing restrictions applied, simply to save time.
    the way i work in photoshop is to export approx a 500 to 1000 jpegs [ per client] in aperture to a folder which I then open with Bridge- create the contact sheets and then create the pdf document with printing restrictions applied.
    is there any way for me to make this simpler, especially just using Aperture?

    just been reading about terminal on another thread.... Spinning beach ball,,[page 2 of Aperture discussions].Apparently there is a command line explained there that can help speed up Aperture. I tried it but Had a problem when trying to type in my Password... It would not let me type anything....So I canceled the proceedure. [ knowing my luck I would cause some irrepairable damage to the machine].
    Think I need to do a lot of reading up to get up to scratch with folk using this discussion Board!!!
    With regards to the pdfauxinfo- is it complicated to get running, or does it run straiaght away in automator?

  • Need to create a form for printing

    I need to create a printout of statistics.
    My first thought is to use a JEditorPane or JTextPane to display my data and then shoot it off to ActiveTree's SmartJPrint lib where I can either print it or save it as a pdf file.
    Now I have already played with using html in the JEditorPane but I would like to know what others think?
    i.e. one problem I am already noticing using html is making sure everything fits on the page. Some printouts turn out to be to large for the paper size.
    Thanks for any feedback.

    Well I use JFreeReport from www.jfree.org
    It is easily to configure, if you use a TableModel for displaying your data!
    It provides printing, *.xls, *.csv, *.pdf

    Hi Zara,
    Here is a open source project on this topic,may be of help to you.
    http://spprintlist.codeplex.com/
    and Scott Hillier also has a project on list printing(Sandboxed)
    http://sandbox.codeplex.com/
    These code libraries will print the list, however if you want to convert into PDF, then you should try using some third party tools or write your own (http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/8038/A-PDF-Forms-Parser)

  • Need guidance - Creating PDF navigation: What do I need?

    Hi,
    I could really use some guidance.  I often create single page PDF documents using Illustrator (and have someone in the office combine a few with distiller when multiple page docs are needed).
    I now need to create a 10 page PDF that I would like to include navigation within (title page has logos that jump to specific pages inside the PDF).
    Questions:
    Best way to do this? (I don't believe I can do within Illustrator)
    What software do I need?  $449 for Acrobat X Pro is rough.  Can Adobe X Standard to this, or an older verson?  I can't find a comparison chart between the two.
    Any general suggestions and tips would be GREAT.  I'm on a deadline, and swimming upstream.
    Thanks,
    Lands

    It's not very detailed, though.

  • Creating pdf from batch print i n 11.3

    What changes are needed in genprint, jcl, etc. to print to pdf files?

    If you wish to use a DAL script this sample will return a PDF filename containing the policynumber, a date and time stamp and a counter. This was necessary as the extract file may have contained multiple transactions with the same policy numbers. It would probable be wise to expand the logic to dynamically assign a name where the policynum GVM was not found.
    IF (HAVEGVM("policynum"))
    IF (HAVEGVM("CTR"))
    CT = GVM("CTR")
    ELSE
    CT = 1
    SETGVM("CTR","1",,"S",6)
    END
    PN = GVM("policynum") & "-"
    TD = SUB(DATE(),7,4) & SUB(DATE(),1,2) & SUB(DATE(),4,2)
    TM = SUB(TIME(),1,2) & SUB(TIME(),4,2) & SUB(TIME(),7,2)
    PNAME = "baddebt-" & PN & "baddebt-" & TD & "-" & TM & "-" & CT & ".pdf"
    CT = CT + 1
    SETGVM("CTR",CT,,"S",6)
    RETURN (PNAME)
    ELSE
    RETURN ("NOP1.PDF")
    END

  • Need to create pdf using adobe live cycle designer using function module

    Hi,
    Needed some help regarding creating a pdf at the backend. I will have function module in the backend which contains all my data and also an image represented as a Base64 encoded string.
    What i need to do is pass this data onto adobe live cycle designer fromthe function module and create a pdf at a particular location. Please let me know how can we achieve this. if there is any function module to do the same. how does the function module i have defined call the adobe live cycle designer transaction or module to create a pdf. i am not an abaper so dont have much idea about the details.
    Thanks.
    Regards
    Srikumar V

    Hi,
         I will try to find the standard function module. If there is no such standard function module, then we need to create a custom function module.
    Check this link:
    [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/adobe]
    Points that you can note:
    1) Adobe Interactive forms can be created & connected to SAP database using ABAP Workbench, through WebDynpro.
    2) Also adobe Interactive forms can be created & connected to SAP database using Transaction SFP.
    3) And for both of the above 'Adobe Live cycle Designer' should be installed on the front end.

  • Need to create PDF spreads in Acrobat

    Hello, I have a bunch of single page pdf documents that I would like to resave as PDF spreads. In Acrobat Pro 8 I can set my print options to have 2 up but when I choose the option "Save as PDF" from the print dialogue box the message "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save." pops up.
    Is there a plugin or preference or something that will turn this function back on? Or is there another workaround that does the same thing? I do not want to print spreads, I want to create pdfs of spreads from individual pdfs.
    Thanks for your help!

    If you just want to view the file as a spread, Open the file in Acrobat and from File>Properties>Initial View (second dropdown) choose Two-Up (CoverPage)

  • What do I need to create PDF files on my iPad?

    So, in trying to resolve the frustration I am having in using Adobe Reader for iOS to create PDFs (without having to pay Adobe another 25% of my current Creative Cloud subscription....) I logged a sales eqnuiry via Adobe website.
    I get a call back withint a couple of hours. Not bad.
    He immediately asks how many computers I have enabled for my Creative Cloud account. Only one, I say.
    Well, he says, then you can install Creative Cloud on your iPad.
    No I can't, I said - Creative Cloud for iPad is a very skinny client, only handles Photoshop, and view some file formats. Not a full Acrobat function.
    Oh, he says, let em check. Eventually comes back. Yes, you are right he says. You have to pay us another $15 per month on top of the $50 per month Creative Crowd (even though CC already includes Acrobat Pro) you already pay, just so you can create PDFs on your iPad.
    That's ridiculous, I say - Adobe does not know how customers want to use your products. More people are going to use a desktop plus tablet - or laptop only. But if I have a desktop and a laptop I can have Creative Cloud on both. I accept that they are different OS, but don't make excuses like "Acrobat.com is a different product to Acrobat Pro" - I already pay for the latter in my CC subscription, so why should I be price gouged another 25%? Makes Adobe look plain greedy - and still they don't want to pay tax in Australia....
    If it was no more than $5 per month on top of the CC subscription, maybe I would go for it - but anything more is DAYLIGHT ROBBERY in my opinion.

    Hi GrattanGuru,
    You have creative cloud subscription as you have mentioned. Under Adobe Reader to convert PDF to other formats Adobe offers online service called Acrobat.com services: https://www.acrobat.com/en_us.html
    That would be the reason support person might have told you on call, that you have to pay for that service.
    Under creative cloud you are getting Adobe applications. However under Acrobat.com you are getting online services which are providing Acrobat functions online.

    Ajlan Huda.

  • Color changes when creating PDF in Acrobat X Standard

    I'm printing to PDF from Word 2010 by using Acrobat X Standard.  Here are the two issues:
    I have overlaid two text boxes (different colors) on top of each other.  The overall image should be blue on top and bottom with tan in the middle.  When I print to PDF in Word, the PDF is perfect; however, when I print to the printer, the blue on the bottom changes to purple, while the blue on top is correct.  Again, this is the same blue text box, so I don't know why the color changes.
    Also, the tan is a darker shade than what the PDF shows.
    Is this a printer issue or PDF settings issue?
    I'm new to using Acrobat, so any step-by-step help is very much appreciated!
    Thank you.

    Create Adobe PDF is a (by default) a LOSSLESS operation where Acrobat processes the Word graphics data directly into PDF.   Printing is a LOSSY operation that first has Word convert Word->”printer spool”, then the printer driver (Adobe PDF) converts that “printer spool” into Postscript, and then Distiller converts the Postscript into PDF.   As you might imagine, you get MUCH higher quality and fidelity results from the former.
    Have you verified that you are using the same color management settings in the printer from both Word and Acrobat?  Is the Konica configured for Postscript, PCL, other?  There are SO MANY possible options that could be impacting your configuration…

  • Create pdf  dynamically....how?

    Hi .... first of all sorry for my poor english!
    The problem is this.
    Im developing a script jsp that should produce pdf documents.
    Now im doing that by fop's classes from xml.apache.org and naturally i create a pdf document from a standard html page that send data to a servlet wich generate pdf document by a xsl-fo template.
    My big problem is that now i can create only similar pdf documents that follow the same xml structure and the same xsl-fo that is created.
    Do this in dynamic way is possible? i mean if i want put bold words or whatever i want or change the structure of the page, how i can do it?
    I had think for example to prudce directly the xsl-fo, for example with an editor developed by flash, and then convert it to pdf.
    i hope that someone can help me and maybe understand (with this poor rows)my problem.
