I never ordered a subscription, I feel ripped off

I just wanted to try out skype out on a trial basis to see if it was usable for me.  The next thing I know I was billed for a subscription that I was not aware that I ordered.  Very dissatisfied I feel ripped off.  Your service is not geared to be responsive to customers needs.  It really sucks that you did not advise of an auto charge and only allow cancellation after charges are made.  xxxxxxxx

  • Feeling Ripped Off - Logic Express 9 Upgrade Issue

Hi, I have been using Logic Express 8 for about a year. I just bought the upgrade for Logic Express 9. I started installing it, entered the serial number and then I was prompted to enter the serial number for my Logic Express 8.
I have since misplaced my LE 8 booklet with the serial number on the back (a bunch of stuff didn't make it to my new apartment in a move). I didn't think this would be a big deal. I thought I would be able to find the serial number of my current version of LE 8 by clicking on the "About Logic Express" tab when I have the program running. However, when you click this all you get is who it is registered to (me) and the version number (8.02).
I called technical support and asked them where I can find the serial number and they said sure, "click on About Logic Express when you have the program open and it will be right there (he also called it the splash page)." It wasn't and isn't. The tech support person said "ah yes, only the previous versions of Logic Express show you the serial number of the version you currently are running." I asked if there was anywhere else that I could find this number and he said "no."
Solutions? He suggested I find my receipt and fax it in and get a new serial number. Impossible, I don't have the receipt. Call the store and see if they can dig it up. Let's get real. It was purchased with Xmas money in cash I got from my parents.
Basically, I'm screwed. I have an opened LE 9 upgrade that I can't return. I have a version of LE 8 that I legally purchased and for some dumb reason there isn't a file or page or something in the program that notes my serial number.
Not fair. I guess I have to tattoo all serial numbers for stuff I purchase from Apple to my arms on the chance that I lose a booklet. Why Apple doesn't include a file or store the serial number of the LE version you are running somewhere on the system is beyond me.
So, I feel ripped off. Apple doesn't care. I thought there would be some way we could work this out (like printing the screenshot of the page that says I am the registered owner) but they would rather try to get another $100 out of a loyal Apple customer and force me to buy LE 9 straight up. I've probably spent about $7,000 on Apple stuff in the past 6 years. I am the definition of a loyal customer.
    Not fair.

You didn't buy Logic Express, you merely paid for the right to use it. When you install it, you are presented with the license agreement to which you must agree.
At the top of the agreement it reads "IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THE LICENSE, YOU MAY RETURN THE APPLE SOFTWARE TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU OBTAINED IT FOR A REFUND...."
So, try taking it back to the store and telling them you declined the license agreement and want a refund.
You can find a copy of the Logic Express license agreement here: http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/logicexpress.pdf

  • Recently got an Elite PRO for Free - I feel ripped off

I recently got an X-Fi Elite PRO for FREE. The driver support is that lame I feel ripped off. Would rather have paid the money to get a prelude than have this in my machine. Going to see how much cash I can get for it on Ebay, hopefully enough to get a Prelude

Then it's a good thing you decided to get the best premium-quality Macintosh computer that was available in your price range at the time you bought it. It should meet your needs for years to come.
Everything you need is in the box except an External Backup Drive [recommended about 3x the size of your internal drive (or more)]. If you don't like the Web Browser, Mail or other tools they included, free with your computer, you can switch to different Apps for short money.
Specialty Apps are available to do high-end professional-quality work such as magazine-cover photo editing and professional movie-making, along with hundreds of other tasks.
And Apple has not given up on this product line. They continue to introduce new products. So when you have needs that are not being met by your current computer, there will be new models to choose from.

  • Feeling Ripped Off By VW AGAIN!!!!!

My daughter and I had two horrible Samsung phones with QWRTY boards, the only reason we chose them in the first place. Over the 2 years we had them we replaced both of the original phones and one additional phone in less than 1.5 years. The original phones were replaced by rebuilt phones within 5 months of their activation. Since my daughter's second phone went bad after the 1yr warranty, we wound up borrowing a phone from a friend to get her through the 2 year contract.
When it came time to finally upgrade the pieces of garbage we had we didn't have many choices. The same phone or a basic phones with no features which would have cost about $50. Red flags flying already. I caved and upgraded to 2 smart phones which joined my husband's basic phone. The salesperson said we needed 2 gb of data. The guy said I'd be saving money and that it wasn't going to cost me that much more.
Got my first bill and freaked out. My bill more than doubled!!!!!!!!
I hate Verizon! I hate Verizon! I hate Verizon! Did I mention that I hate Verizon!
Oh, and yeah, here's an interesting tidbit. I tried to pay my Verizon bill at the Verizon store with cash and they told me that there would be a $3.00 service charge for me to make the payment. SERIOUSLY VERIZON???????? Charging to pay cash???????
Maybe it's time for all of us to speak out loudly against the Verizon Rip Off.

    AntonioC
Seriously...... a $3 convenience fee to pay cash for your bill at a Verizon store? Going to the store is not a convenience. It's just another way VW is ripping off the customer.
By the way, another rip off was the $27 case I bought for my daughter's phone at the Verizon store that broke within a week because she had to keep taking the case off the phone in order to get the adapter cord to work properly so her phone would charge. Going to the store is not a "convenience" but now I have to make another trip back there to get this resolved. Nothing is ever easy with VW.
And yeah, my phone still drops calls, a lot.
I don't believe for a minute that Verizon loves its customers. They just love the money they keep squeezing out of us.
Sorry Antonio, nothing against you personally,  I know you are just towing the corporate line.

  • Feeling ripped off by the on-site technician labor fee

First, let me start by saying I am not a person who complain just because I have been charged with a service fee.
I won't complain if the fee is not a huge amount. Sometimes I am charged with hidden fees here and there, but if the amount is a few bucks, I will just pay and avoid the hassel of trying to understand or possibly get a refund.
I won't complain if the fee is caused by my own fault. For example, I overdraft my checking account and I need to pay 35 bucks, that is fine. I am responsible for what I did, no grudge.
I won't complain, if the fee is explained to me in advance. So I get to decide if I am willing to pay or how much I am willing to pay.
That is why I am so angry when I found I was charge for an outrageous $91 dollar fee for a Verizon technician to come to my house to replace a faulty DSL router. Let me start by saying what really bothers me in this incident. I was charged  a large amount of fee by Verizon because of one of their problem (the faulty DSL router). I couldn't use the internet service which I purchased for two days because of the faulty router, and I now need to pay for that. There are no other solutions (I spend endless time trying to work out a solution with Verizon support staff online) but to send a technician so the fee is inevitable. And come on, 91 dollars for replacing a Router? If they told me in advance about the 91 dollar technician service fee,  I will never agree to buy it and might just simply disconnect the service and switch to its competitor. As far as I know, they can charge me $191 dollars, or 291 dollars and told me afterwards, and I have to pay for that as well?
I sincerely hope Verizon will help me make sense of this charge, help me understand why I need to pay for their problem that affect my purchased service, and why the half-hour service fee is $91, more importantly, why this fee is hidden from its customers. Otherwise, I will file a formal complaint to goverment agencies such as  Federal Trade Commission,  and Better Business Bureau.

Normally a modem/router replacement is not done by a technician. They just ship you a new one and you replace it yourself. Was there some special circumstance that made this not the case?

  • Feel ripped off

Comcast is extremely expensive.. My suggestions to anyone who has Comcast is not to get any promotional items they offer..I'm stuck in a 2 year contract that will cost me $600 dollars just to get rid off xfinity home security. My bill is over $200 which is ridiculous for a person that has only one premium channel.. This will be the longest 2 years of my life but when its over I will get rid of Comcast and never come back that is a promise!.. The Evil Empire

It's not like the other companies don't do the same thing. Check out dish or directv. All companies use promo prices to lure you in than jump after the period to make up the margin.

  • I payed 380 dollars to replace my keyboard.. I feel ripped off

200 dollars for the keyboard and 180dollars for some reason that the technican explained that i didnt really get. I searched the internet and found out that most people were able to replace it with just 200 dollars... The reason for replacement is because of liquid spill but I just requested to replace the keyboard because everything was operating good

If its a unibody macbook most shops replace the whole top metal piece because the keyboard is just kinda glued in there (Ive seen this done and it doesnt always hold well and keys will stop working, shop depending). Ive done a couple of these on higher end machines (never 13's) and even the parts to me cost out the nose. Did a 17inch a few years back that was 2 years old, screen, bezel glass and keyboard. Cost me $1200 just in parts.
Also everything bolts down to that unibody keyboard piece. Its not a very quick change if you have someone who is being careful not to break any connectors, etc. $180 for labor IMO from doing laptops for almost 10 years isnt a bad price.

  • Feeling ripped off by VZW?  I understand!

<< Moved from https://community.verizonwireless.com/community/apple/iphone4s for better subject match >>
I just had the wrost experience ever!!!  After receiving an email thanking me for my payment of $533.35 I called customer service!  They charged me for early termination fee of $350.00 even though I cancelled within 14 days!  RIPOFF!!!  I had wanted to switch to another carrier after having what I had thought to be bad customer support and service with another carrier.  Man was I wrong!  We purchased two new phones and signed up for a family plan with verizon.  Our reservation was  the data plan being limited to 2 GB and the anytime minutes being reduced to 700 anytime while raising our monthly bill by $40.00. We decided to only activate one phone of the two to try it out. Over the next 5 business days I watched the usage tracker.  It was scary enought for us to return our phones and cancel our verizon service.  After taking the phone and the service for a test drive for 1 week, I Somehow racked up $323.00 in less than 8 days!!! $140.00 restocking fees, $70.00 for each phone (one was unopened) but the kicker was the fact that for the 8 days with 1 phone in usage, We racked up $183.00 in usage and taxes?!!!  That is ridiculous!!!  That is more than the family plan that we had signed up for both phones for a full months worth of service!!!  The worst part of this story is that only after you receive the billing statement and call customer service to let them know of the mistake in billing do they credit your account back.  What if I hadnt checked my email?  or set up the notification on my previous account?  I have several friends and family that I will gladly send this experience to.  I would be happy to speak with a customer service Mgr that could provide a fix to this major problem!  However until that happens I will continue to post my experience whenever and wherever I can!
When I called they said that there was nothing that could be done about the charges and the Mgr declined to speak or work with me.

verizon customer service is so bad thet they cannot read the notes on the account or they purposely act that they cannot read.  I called them to cancel my jet pack account in oct 2013.  they talked me into moving to a cell phone account. long story short I did agree on the condition they would terminate my jet pack account without the termination fee. the reap over the phone assured me that my account is canceled and we are good. Not so true. 2 months later I received a past due notice for my account and charges for 2 months. I called verizon and no one seems to know what im talking about. finaly one manger sees it and told me he reversed the charges. next day I signed in and the charges are still there and round 2. 3. 4 and still missing around with me. one rep told me that 192 dollars were charges from the last bill while the account was active even though i canceled the account before then.  I went ahead and paid them any way because im tired of the **** there was another balance of 111 dollers thwy said they would credit that ammount which has been over 10 days and still shows I owe verizon the ammount. Verizon customer service is so terrible . I will pay them the termination fee for the new service that they dumped on me and dump this company for ever. I was planning to move my family plan and my company plans to verizon. now I know not to. verizon is so smart. they got greedy over 300 dollers but lost an potential customer that was going to move an account worth millions of dollers. Thank you verizon for giving the heads up

  • MB vs. MBP...Should I feel ripped off?

I can't really find a difference between the Macbook and Macbook Pro, except for the graphics and the price of course. I mean did I pay $2600 just for the ATI 1600? Don't get me wrong I absolutley love my MBP, but it just seems like the same machine. What do you guys think about this?

Can you explain in more detail how the MBP is "more
aggressively tuned"? Are you saying that the 2GHz
(regular) MacBook doesn't really run at 2GHz?
Every piece of hardware in any computer can be tuned and detuned for performance. Memory for example, CAS latencies and other memory timings can be tweaked. PC's have pretty much allowed system builders to customize this, some call it overclocking, others live within the specs of the hardware. Not all silicon is created equally. So the bios settings of a Pc allow you to buy higher end silicon and customize the settings for optimal performance. Rest assured though, if a manufacturer such as Apple, Intel or AMD, when they stamp it as 2 Ghz, that cpu runs with stability @ that setting of clock speed and multiplier, that's the truth in the advertised product you bought. Electronics do get warmer with the ramp up in performance, with better cooling, a cpu might very well be able to overclock 400-700 Mhz, depending upon how good a cpu wafer yeild or design is. Many if not all experts hold, that the cpu you get is the same across the board, only that the manufacturer tests it to see where it runs best at, even stamp it as what it is to have varying speed grades for product line. Some may get a 1.83 Ghz cpu, that is perfectly capable and stable @ 2 or 2.16 Ghz. Manufacturers do lock cpu's for desktops primarily, but since the software (OS) throttles up and down for notebooks, these settings are more than likely unlocked.

  • Why do I feel ripped-off?

Got this on-line number expecting to be able to receive calls and txt msg. Not only is txting not available, the number doesn't work at all. Cannot get it to ring through. Read all the forum posts and tried all the fixes, but nothing works.

You can buy a replacement battery for a few $. The device is not that easy to open up, but it can be done. I've around 10 battery or headphone jack/hold switch assembly replacements on various models from 5th to 7th gen. There are third parties that will fit for somewhere in the region of $25. E.g.

  • ITouch I feel ripped off

I bought an iTouch to play music and read books I can no longer read books I have contacted Apple and no one wants to help why would you remove a feature and selling point of a device ? please send possitive replies as I keep getting comments removed because my comments are negative!

No one here works for Apple; we're just fellow users. If you want to comment to Apple, you can use their feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html
but it won't do any good. The 2nd-generation iPod touch was discontinued almost three years ago now, and while it's unfortunate, time marches on and expecting a manufacturer to continue to support with new OS and app versions such an old device (in terms of that class of product) just isn't realistic (and no it's not simple; continuing to have an app support older operating systems adds a lot of complexiity to the development). Apple's actually much better at continuing to provide support for older devices than most other companies.
Sorry, but if you want to run iBooks, you'll need a newer iPod.
    Regards.

  • I feel ripped off.Why does apple not replace the battery?

Ok so I went to the apple store previously and they guy told me I could get a refurbished ipod for $50.Now I go there today and this other guy tells me apple does not support my model anymore.I paid over $300 dollars for this thing and apple will not replace a battery? Why is this? It's just a battery and I refuse to buy another one.Apple needs to support their product for lifetime.

I am feeling so ripped off right now. I have wanted a Mac for years and believed the hype about it's stability and I have had more trouble with this Imac 2011 than I have ever had with a pc. It locks up with several software products from APP store. I have already had to have a technician to look at it and really couldn't figure out what the deal was.  I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software. This machine is only 4 weeks old and I am using 37 g on a 1 T hard drive. There is no reason for it to be locking up. Also, when I try to use the help program, it always tells me that I am not connected to the internet even though I have used both the mail program and the browser with no problem just before that. I successfully used the help program on my pc lots of times. I did not need a $2000. plus machine to just get email. I just wanted to unload on somebody that might understand my pain and after checking out this site...I think there is a few of you out there.

I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software.
The apps downloaded from the Mac App Store are written by third party developers, not Apple. If you have problems  with those apps you need to visit the support area for their websites. Launch the App Store, locate the app name. You should see a support link.
when I try to use the help program, it always tells me that I am not connected to the internet even though I have used both the mail program and the browser with no problem just before that
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.helpviewer.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash. Restart your Mac, try the Help menu.
If you need help finding that file, hold down the Finder icon in the Dock then click: New Finder Window. From the menu bar top of your screen click: Go > Go to Folder. Type this in exactly as you see it here:   ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist    That will take you right to that file.
(.plist) files stores information about a particular app or in this case, the Help viewer. Often times deleting the .plist file resolves the issue.
It's fine to "unload"... we understand that you expect your iMac to be stable but there are times when things go awry. That's why we have these forums so that you can you get help.

  • Ripped off - Bought Lightroom and Creative Cloud at same time.

I signed up for Creative Cloud when it came out and bought Lightroom around the same time because Creative Cloud didnt include Lightroom. Since that it does, I feel ripped off that I bought Lightroom.
I can't return the software because its about a week and half 30 days. Adobe customer support has said that there is nothing they can do.
    Suggestion?

    Hi jifjif06
Could you please provide me your order number or email address to check your account?

  • REF:- RIPPED OFF

i have read the commets that people feel ripped off because the g5 intel was brought out 4 weeks after the g5 isight, well i did feel fine untill i have now discovered that you can load windows xp onto the new g5 and run it,not the usual crap virtual pc,so now i feel ripped off to,my daughter who is a uni,has to go to her friends to work on windows,i have tried contacting apple direct by email but there does not seem to be a addy for them,i also have a g4 imac 17" with a motherboard failure which will cost 400.00gbp to repair, well to sum up i have spent 2300.00gbp in 3 years on the best computers(and there are bloody good) but feel a little upset that my dauughter still has to travel 10 miles to use a windows system, surely apple should offer some sort of buy back for people who wish to upgrade to intel,to me its only fair, after all we work **** hard to earn our money and pay a lot to buy the best

    Sorry.
    A) There is no "G5 Intel"
    B) There is no email address in the world that will get Windows to run natively on a PPC based Mac.
Contact them by phone. It will get you the same response as an email - nothing - but you will get it faster.
I will say it again, if she requires Windows, then you made a mistake by buying a Mac.
I love Macs. You love Macs. Heck, you did a good job raising yor daughter since she loves Macs, but they are not for everyone in every application. If you must boot into Windows - and that is rather clumsy way of handling things - then sell this G5 and buy an Intel-based Mac.
