I purchased a song on itunes and when I play it, it says my computer is not authorized. A window pops to authorize my computer so I type in my account info and hit authorize. After that a window pops up saying it is already authorized but still won't play. None of this happens with any other songs on my itunes. I would just purchase the song again but I can't because every time I try to purchase it, the song says "play" next to it instead of "buy." When I hit play no music plays it just goes back to saying my computer is not authorized so I authorize it and it says it is already authorized then I click it again and it says my computer is not authorized. It's a never ending annoying circle. How can I get the song to play?
If you live in a Region that allows re-downloading Music...

When I authorize, it says I already have but still won't let me play purchased music
Over the past few years, I've bought numerous songs through iTunes.
Now, for all of these songs it's telling me that I need to authorize my computer to listen to them.
When I authorize my computer, it says "This computer is already authorized"
When I click on the songs, it continues to tell me I need to authorize my computer.
How do I fix this? I purchased this music, why can't I listen to it?
It was purchased with this itunes account.
Years ago (~6?) someone was using my email address for their iTunes account.
Not exactly sure how they accomplished that but they did.
I contacted iTunes back when this happened and they allowed me to move my purchases from my previous Apple ID (because the other guy had my email address used, I had to create a different one)
Apple Support later helped me move all of my purchases over to my main email which the other individual was using and I've been using this Apple ID for many years. It took Apple Support literally 6 months to complete this and get everything sorted out. (They were confused how he used my email address to create an apple id in the first place)
So, I'm not sure if this problem is a result of this "merge" from years ago?
Any idea how I can go about fixing this, what the problem is or is there a way I can contact apple support.I don't believe the issue is with them being purchased on my previous account because when Apple Support fixed it, they transferred them all to my current apple id. (Which is the ID it refers to when it says I need to authorize my account)
If no one knows the answer, how do I contact Apple Support? I've looked all over the site and can't figure it out. -
I have downloaded songs into ITUNES and when I go to FILE the SYNC IPOD sign is not highlighted.
I believe I have previously used this method to sync to my Ipod! Will the media file play with Quicktime Player? If it will then it's an iTunes issue. If it won't then you need to delete the file and download it a second time.

Moved iTunes library from old computer (PC Windows 7) to new (PC Window 8) using external hard drive. Library listing shows all music but can only play a fraction of it. On the ones it cannot play it asks to locate, then refers to an archived version (an .itl file), and still cannot play them. Do I just need to copy the archived .itl over, or is that not where the actual media are (do the actual media files even exist on the new computer?)? Any advice or information on this would be helpful.
*Also...is there any way I can filter out all the tracks with the ! so I can delete the unplaying copies as they're taking up room in my iTunes? I know how to find duplicates, but then I have to go and delete each one individually...*
*Thank you!* -
My ipad2 will not play my itunes videos that i just purchased; I've deleted and reloaded them twice, but still won't play; plays music only, any suggestions?
You are playing them in the Videos app correct? Music Videos will play the video in the videos app, not in the Music app.

iTunes says that my computer is not authorized.
I recently installed a new computer.
How do I authorize it?If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

I have an older pc with itune songs on it. Trying to burn to disk. Tells me that the computer is not authorized to do this, it is. Have tried de-authorizing it and re-authorizing it and I'm able to do that. Then if I try to authorize it, it says it already is, but still won't allow me to work with my songs, still says not authorized. The songs I'm trying to burn were purchased from the itunes store, but don't show up on my purchased songs on my new iMac, not sure how to find them. Any ideas? Thanks!
Thanks for trying to help!
Tried it without much success though.
Looked good at first. I was able to unauthorize it and after rebooting all I went in under "store" and authorized it again, witch it did without a hassle.
But, when I had restarted everything again and tried to sync with me iPhone I still got "Part of the programs in the iTunes library, for instance 'yadda-yadda-app' was not installed on the iPhone unit 'The name of my iPhone' because you are not authorized for them on this computer. You can authorize this computer for purchases by choosing store - Authorize this computer"
(Translation to english might include minor errors...
So... Any other ideas on how to sync my iPhone with my iTunes?
(Oh, and my iPhone has never been jailbroken or anything like that.) -
My iPhone wont let me download some apps that i have payed for on on my account; it says my iPhone is not authorized for this computer, but it is.
No, iTunes never says an iPhone is not authorized.
This is occurring on a computer, correct?
Is the computer authorized for the account the media or apps were acquired with? -
Help! When I try to purchase a song from iTunes and have agreed to the terms and conditions, it then tells me that my session has timed out... but I've only been trying for a few minutes. I can't buy songs if it keeps doing this! Does anyone know why it's doing this and how to fix it? Thanks!
Hi mterry1723, one solution that might be worth trying is this:
- Close iTunes, if it's open
- Open Safari and got to 'Preferences'
- Select 'Security' on the top
- Untick all the security options in the menu
- Click the 'Show Cookies' button and look for all the 'apple' entries in the left-hand column.
- Highlight them (select them collectively) and press 'Remove'
- Now open iTunes and buy the song as usual.
- You may be asked to do the same security process as before, so do as asked.
- Hopefully, the security check will now have accepted your answers and start downloading the song as normal.
Remember to re-tick all the required security options you had just un-ticked in Safari preferences. You don't need to bother about opening the cookies again.
I hope this has worked for you and my profoundest apologies if it has not. Worth a go, though!
I did see this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18259935#18259935 which may be of more help, mainly the last entry by 'c2boyd'

I purchased a song from iTunes and when I try to play it I get a message that the original file cannot be found and asks if I want to try and locate file. I locate the file and it's empty?!
Delete the file, then download again from the iTunes Store, Purchased section (in the Quick Links sidebar).

Just purchased a new pc with windows 8. Transferred over my itunes. With 2 different albums in my library, when I attempt to play this music I get a message saying my computer is not authorized. I then sign in to authorize the computer, itunes tells me it is indeed authorized, I attempt to play this music again and I get the same "your computer is not authorized" message again, and again....
Any help out there on this one would be appreciated. If my question is not clear enough I will attempt to help.
Thank you,
