I ran update to ios 5 but now iphone is empty

I ran the ios5 update last night on my iphone 3gs and kept getting this error: An error occurred while updating this iphone (-1). After a couple tries it started to update and ran overnight. When I checked it this morning it was stuck at the apple icon screen. I held the home and power button for about 20 seconds and now when I puch the home button it opens to an "iPhone" screen with the finger swipe which contuously changes languages that all say (I assume) slide to set up. when I slide it comes to a location services screen. It seems to me that the iphione may be empty. Any idea what I need to do to get it back to normal and get my stuff back?

amm i have a problem with my carrier.
and i already apply fo unlock code before 3 week ago.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Right click on the .exe file and select run as admin. This will allow it to run all the processes it needs and should help it work. If the problem is not fixed you should try waiting till a new update, that often fixes ios issues.
On other problem could be a hardware issue, try a new cable and use it in a different USB socket.

So yesterday I FINALLY updated my iPod fourth generation to iOS 5.1.1 and I love all of the new things I have to play with, but now whenever I sync the iPod, my music won't transfer off of my iTunes into my music player on my iPod! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I had this problem while I had iOS 5.1.1 installed for many months. Fortunately I only have about 150 contacts and only about half of them duplicated. I found that my problem was the way thing were set up in Outlook. I removed all of the duplicates and corrected everything in Outlook contacts (ignoring the address book) and have not had the problem since, Hope this helps.

I'm afraid that unless you are able to contact the previous owner and have him wipe the device, or provide you with his Apple ID password so you can delete the iCloud account, you are out of luck.
With iOS 7, an Activiation Lock was added to deter thieves. This lock prevents anyone but the owner of the device from deleting the iCloud account and restoring the device:

Unless you are able to reach the original owner and get the device wiped or the iCloud account deleted, you are stuck with a brick.
