I recently did the 10.9.2 update, and I now have missing indesign files.

I had saved my file and a copy before shutting my computer down to complete the restart to update the system, but now when I open inDesign, and go to open recent documents then click on the document name it comes up with an error saying "The files does not exist or you do not have permission or the file is in use wiht another application. I check this and chut everything else down so its not open else where. And the files do not even show up in the filder they were in on my desktop

Does anyone know how I can recover these files? They were weeks and weeks worth of work that I really do not want to replicate.

Hey there tjbliven,
It sounds like you are not able to use the dictation feature of iOS 8, becuase the microphone icon is missing. It seems to me like Siri may be turned off, which would cause the icon to not be there:
Siri settings - iPhone
To set options for Siri, go to Settings > General > Siri. Options include:
Turning Siri on or off
That should get the dictation feature back for you.

My suggestion would be to do the following:
-Press and hold the power button and home button for the time needed until the screen turns black and the apple logo reappears.
If that does not work, call the nearest Apple store and ask for assistance.

I know how to do the updates. What I dont know is what size each update that I have completed was. I am having a data usage disagreement with my Telco and want to prove to them that this computer did not download the amount of data they are claiming it did.

If you can't find it on any of your home screens or via the spotlight search screen then check to see if it's hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari being set 'off'

Just did the Mac App Store update and now MBP won't boot?!

I just did the Mac App Store software update that required a restart and on bootup it just hangs at the spinning wheel and I can't get anywhere. I've tried resetting the SMC and PRAM, but that hasn't helped. Any ideas here? I can't believe that update toasted my MBP!
And I tried unplugging all my drives from it as well.

Were you trying to install Mavericks? What do you see when you restart your Mac with the Option key held down? Does it indicate the boot volumes is Mavericks or your previous system? If it's Mavericks boot into the Revovery volume and try reiinstalling from there.

all my calendar actitivies were deleted except my birthdays. i am hoping a restore will bring them back. anyone else experience this. deleted them on my ipad also

Installing an iTunes update does not remove your media or personal files.
Are the files actually missing off the computer, if so, you have a serious computer issue... not a software update issue.
Regardless, use the backup of your media and other important files to put everything back. You do have a backup, correct?

The 6.1.2 update came out today for the iphone and I updated it thinking it wasn't different than the last updates, well it ended up restoring which deleted all of my contacts, most of my songs, most of my apps and ALL OF MY PICTURES AND VIDEOS from the past year. Can anyone help me out? this affects all my previous work all the old layouts just dont recognize the font that is still installed in the system, however if I rewrite it recognizes the font. Just dont want to rewrite all the text in all my past work which is a lot.

I got ITunes and my IPHone talking to each other again. First off my Iphone was linked with the usb cable to my iphone. Also my PC could conect with my phone and transfer files.
This may be too simplistic, but I restarted my PC with the Iphone still conected and turned on. When the startup was complete I opened ITunes. Iphone was still not recognized. Then I unpluged my Iphone and plugged it back in.
The Iphone then became visible and the auto sync started up. All Good.

i have already tried reseting the phone in every way possible several times as well as toggling different settings that has to do with the use of such things but nothing works. i've even called the support line for my company but they basically had me do everything i had already done over again.

Is your storage too full?
Check Settings > General > Usage and make sure your available space is absolutely no less than 10% of your device's total space.

This sorted it for me:
Backup your iPhone to iCloud (I believe backing up to iTunes will work too). Now go to "Settings --> General --> Reset --> Erase All Content and Settings" to completely restore your iPhone to factory settings. Assuming you've backed up to iCloud, you'll be asked when setting up your iPhone if you want to restore from an iCloud backup. Choose that option and once your iPhone has restored itself from your backup, this annoying problem will finally be gone! (was for me anyway).
To restore from an iTunes backup, connect your iPhone to your computer, load iTunes. Click the File menu and select Devices > Restore from Back up.
