I recently downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Since then when I add a cd it does not show in my music library. I have signed out then back in without any change. Suggestions?

You should still be able to manually manage the music on your iPhone within iTunes. Make sure that when your iPhone is plugged in, look in the Summary tab to see if “Manually manage music and videos” is enabled and you can even you turn off Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected. Take a look at the first article below to give more information on that. As far as your other questions about calling someone, I have provided two options for you. I have always been able to create playlists on itunes, then drag them to my ipod when it is plugged into the mac. I recently downloaded the latest version of itunes, and now am unable to do that. I recently downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader for my MacBook Air and now when I try to open a new pdf I get the Adobe logo and text in Japanese and nothing else. The pdf doesn't open. Any suggestions? I never had this problem until my cache was cleared and I had to re-install Adobe Reader. Any help would be appreciated.
Just to say I am having exactly the same issue on my MacBook Air. I can't remember what I did but after this happened a few times, and once I had clicked on the Japanese pop up, I managed to do something that now means I get the pop up in English, saying 'Adobe Reader blocked for this website'. When I click on it it asks me to trust the content and then I get a bar with the text in Japanese. Eventually the pdf does open. However it's very irritating that I have to trust every pdf individually which I never had to do before the latest upgrade, and I don't understand why I get messages in Japanese. I will be interested to see whatever answers other more technical people may provide!

This has been really frustrating me today, I downloaded the new version of itunes today and now it seems that my ipod will no longer connect to itunes. when I plug the usb cable into my laptop it recognizes it is there but itunes doesn't detect that it is there.
it doesn't even open the itunes up when i plug it in, this is really bugging so any help would be great.

I recently downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now I cannot access my original music library
On or around 6/23 I plugged in my iPod for it's weekly sync with iTunes. The usual prompt to download an updated version came up and went throught the usual motions of updating and installing.
Once all was updated/installed I noticed that when I opened iTunes, my library did not open. When I plugged in my iPod my music came up but I could not edit anything. Then, I proceeded to download a couple new songs that did not sync to my device. I thought it was becuase the new software was a little different and I wasn't use to it then realized iTunes wasn't recognizing my device like it used to.
I have had the same iPod and computer since at least 2008. I only have the one iPod synced with iTunes and I'm not super tech savvy, but the only change I made was updating/installing iTunes software, as prompted.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (Although the procedure is for Vista and 7 and you've got XP, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component, such as Apple Application Support, won't install normally.

You need to upgrade the computer's OS. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, it can't sync that device.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and once done, if desired, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.
Some device models require Mac OS X 10.7.5 to sync.
