- I've recovered from external drive (mountain lion 10.8.1 ) which i prepared by Lion Diskmaker before.
Current issues:
1) I have Recovery HD but when I boot from it - Reinstall Mac OS X option is not working
2) I have EFI password and won't be able to clear it as well as reset PRAM
3) Boot Camp Assistant is not working as well with the error in the subject
Any ideas how to fix all of these? -

Recently got new iMac with Lion.....when I try to load my LogicPro software, I get 'OS does not support power PC'. Is there a download to fix or must I spend another 500 on software?
What version of Logic do you have?
And if you end up upgrading, it's only $199 now. -

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
What's going on? When I type the title of my new Pages document, iwork is substituting a hyphen for the colon I want. This is bizarre! How do I make my computer do my thing vs its thing? I have Pages '09.
Colons are used by the operating system so can't be used in file names.

No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
• I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive? -

Just in case the component being referenced is not part of iTunes but is rather part of one of the other related programs, it might be worth trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related componentry, as per the following troubleshooting document:

Seems like the downloaded file was corrupt that could be because of either network restriction or the anti virus might have blocked it. My suggestion would be to try and download the product either by turning off the Antivirus or try a different network.

I recently downloaded a program ScanFont 5, When I try to open the installer I get the following message: "You can't open the application "(null)" because it may be damaged or incomplete. Is there any way I can get the installer to open anyway?
The message means just what it says. Remove the damaged copy and try downloading it again.
Edit: Looking at FontLab's page, there's two issues going on.
1) It's a PowerPC app and will not run on any version of OS X newer than Snow Leopard, 10.6.x.
2) The "workaround" they offer is to purchase the Windows version and then run it in the the open source Wine, Windows emulator. -

I have never experienced this issue, but if you can't find anything that helps on the site that Philly suggested, I have read that this has worked for that error code.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data or Cache. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -
I am having issues trying to start up with Mountain Lion on my 2010 Mac Mini. Here's the scenario:
1) After starting up, I get the usual gray screen with Apple logo.
2) After a few minutes, a darker gray screen scrolls down and in the middle of this is a black dialogue box with reversed (white) text. This text, in multiple languages, reads: "You need to restart your computer." Then it goes on to instruct on how to shut it down and restart it.
3) I follow this instruction, but get the same dialogue box over and over agin.
Any ideas?

"Pipe Endpoint Error" - Never Saw This Error Before

I'm getting a strange error from within Data Tools whenever I try to test my SSRS report which i'm developing, i've never seen this before -
"The pipe endpoint 'net.pipe://localhost/PreviewProcessingService6268/ReportProcessing' could not be found on your local machine"
Can someone tell me what this means and how to fix it? I'm not finding much about it online.

According to the error message, the issue can be caused by Net.Pipe Listener Adapter Windows service is not started or the SPN for the report server is not registered when Kerberos authentication is enabled. So, to fix this issue, please refer to the following
tips:
Start the Net.Pipe Listener Adapter services.
1. Press WinKey+R , input “services.msc” in the Run box, and press enter.
2. In the local services list, find the “Net.Pipe Listener Adapter”. If it is stopped, start it. If it is started, restart it.
Please run the following command to register a Service Principal Name (SPN) for a Report Server:
Setspn -s http/<computername>.<domainname>:<port> <domain-user-account>
