Here is a post I assembled for another with a similar problem:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta. Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion). While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Workarounds:
1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
2. If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
3. Upgrade to an Intel compatible versions of your software, or find alternatives that will open your data files;
3. Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:

NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must currently be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps.
NOTE 2: Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization.

In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for years. Life is better without Microsoft. -
Have can't open iphot because power pc apps are no longer supported
I recently burned up an 8 year old Mac (all in one machine) for lack of better terminology.
It was replaced with a MacMini so I could connect to an existing monitor.
Upon launching, I have an error, when I open iPhoto or iDVD, etc that says: Can't open Iphoto because power pc apps are no longer supported.
What do I need to do now?
I'm assuming the software I had originally on my old machine is outdated? But I also thought it was pre loaded with all the basic stuff.
AS you can tell I'm not the biggest user............ but I would like to be!Sounds like someone restored your programs from you old PowerPC-based system to your new system, probably running OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. Apple dropped the capability to run PowerPC-based code in these systems. You can go to Launch pad and access the App Store to buy updated versions of the iLife programs. However, iDvd is no longer available from Apple. You can buy iLife in a box from sources like Amazon.com that will have iDvd included, and possibly even by calling the Apple online store at, in the US, 800-MY-APPLE. Ask for the latest version of iLIfe with iDvd off the legacy products list.
You probably should click on the apple on the left of the menu bar, click about this mac, more info, systems report, and applications (which will take a few moments to display). Click kind to sort the list. Any programs that say PowerPC won't run under 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. -
? Why does my Photoshop PS2 open on my Mac Book Pro OS 10.6.8 Intel Core 2 Processor but not on my just purchased Mac Book Pro OS 10.7.3? On my new machine I get a message saying "You can't open Photoshop CS2 because Power PC applications are no longer supported". This is not new. The fact that Mac OS no longer supports PowerPC applications starting with OS X Lion has been known for over a year now. You'll need to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop

That's what it means. The program cannot be run on your Mac. It is old PowerPC code. You need to get a version that will run on an Intel-based Mac.

Installed a new router. Installed Lion. Have an Epson Workforce 600 multi function printer. Two problems.
1. I cannot get Lion to recognize that the Epson is a multi function printer. There is no scan option on the "print/Scan" popup window.
2. When I try and use the epson scan utility I get: POWER PC APPLICATIONS ARE NOT LONGER SUPPORTED.
I have tried EPSON support with no real luck as they say it is Apple upgrades that are the problem.
Apple support was quite rude..said it was not their problem and that I should call epson. Told the I did but it made no difference just got the same reply.
Have no idea what to do.....seems I cannot find out which multi-function printers Lion supports.daolbuzzard1 wrote:

Not to give you another run around, but you need new printer drivers from Epson for your printer so it works in Lion.
Now it could be that they are working on it, or that they could have decided not to provide new drivers in order for you to force upgrade.
The only thing a user can do is decide very carefully BEFORE upgrading to a newer Apple operating system, make sure that all their current hardware and software works and make a decision for themselves.
Since you upgraded to Lion, you can go back to Snow Leopard and your PPC software will work.

You're saying that you do not want the browser background image to display on any page but your first page, right?
If that's what you want then go into the Inspector/Page/Layout pane for each of those pages and set the Browser background to a color. It must either be a color or an image selected by you.

I have the original iPad and when I sync it with my macbook pro in iPhoto the faces key photo aren't the same on both devices, how can I get them to be the same as on the computer

HP recovery/tools partition gone, but files are archived on C:\, how do I retrieve them?
I deleted the hp tools drive but I made a copy of all the files on the drive on C:\. My computer is in deserate need of a factory state OS. Is there any way to get all these files back onto another partition?

While you may have made an archive of the HP Recovery patition, it is unlikely that it will be useful or functional even after restoring it to a partition. It is likely that pointer and links required by the HP Recovery Manager and "F11" key are no longer correct. If you didn't create your HP Recovery Media when you first setup your computer, you will need to order / purchase this Media to return your computer to a factory like state.
If in the USA, please contact or visit HP's support page for your model to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your model. If elsewhere in the world, please contact official HP Customer Support, via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP recovery Media is available for your model.

Many of my recently uploaded photos are horizontal when they should be vertical, and vice versa. I've corrected all these on my laptop but in my iPad and i Phone photo streams they are still mixed. How can I fix this? Thanks.
Add the corrected ones to your PS - PS contains only what was added to it - changes made are not applied to the PS - you have to re add the updated photos

Don't know if it's sync or icloud but I have started getting thousands of ithmb files in my pictures library each day. I can't open them and I have to continually delete them. Anyone else have this problem?
