I suddenly can't receive files or video chat
Hi everyone.
All of a sudden I cannot receive files or other users video on ichat. Can anyone help me please? Any help would be much appreciated.

Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443.
Log back in again.

Can't share files or video chat
Hi, I've been having problems with sharing files with buddies and video chatting.
When I send a file to a friend or when they send one to me, I get this response: "Communications with the AIM proxy timed out. Try again."
When I try to video chat with my friend and vice versa, I get this response: "There was a communication error during your chat. Did not receive a response from ... "
I looked through some topics, but I haven't found a solution yet. I changed my Port settings to 443; audio/video bandwidth at 500kbps; quicktime streaming at 1.5kbps. No luck. I have no idea what's going on, so I would appreciate any help.

How to Access
This page will tell you near the top, but below most of the adverts and the Line that Reads "Do Not Skip This Step", what IP to type in to a Web Browser and then What User name/word to use and what the default password is.
This is of course if you have not altered the IP the Router's set up pages are on and have not changed the Default User Name and Password.
Only use this access info and Don't bother with the Port Forwarding Instructions (I have linked you to the ones for AIMTalk which is not enough ports)
What to do in the Set up Pages
From this Emulator you will see UPnP is in the Advanced tab and then Advanced Network menu item on the left.
Make sure this is Enabled.
Just below that for this device you will see the WAN Ping Blocking setting.
In this case you Tick the Box to Enable response. As iChat sends a Ping you want to Enable this.
Use the "Save Setting" button at the top
Then go to this page in the Advanced Tab across the top and Firewall down the side.
Disable the SPI setting.
This tries to inspect every piece of data that comes to your Network.
Basically with modern internet Speeds the device cannot process Video Stream data enough and will interpret that as an attack and drop the one port that data stream is on (to "protect" the connection as a whole).
Save Settings on this page.
At the bottom of this page is what is called Application Layer Gateway(s) (ALG)
If iChat does not work.
There is one for SIP which is a protocol that iChat uses to Connect A/V chats.
It should be enabled by Default but if you still have issues with iChat Video or Audio Chats then Disable this item.
Looking it up in the support pages held on the device did not say if it forces SIP to port 5060 (iChat in iChat 3 and 5 uses port 16402) and you may need to Disable this item

All of a sudden can't receive email on Mail client. Sessions with service provider (att/yahoo) and Apple have yielded no results! Recently upgraded to Lion, but have received email since. Anyone having the same problem. Apple says service provider problem, service provider say it's the mail client. Anyone had this problem???
No. My frustration with the problem just led me to begin the process convert all my email to a gmail client. However, after some time all my mail with att/yahoo has been coming through as before. Go figure. Still will convert to gmail.

Suddenly can't put files to remote server
Hi there,
In Dreamweaver 5.5 (OS 10.7) I suddenly can't put files to the remote server. I've been using Dreamweaver for just over a year and this has never been a problem before. My site is: www.peawitpress.co.uk
The updated files go through the normal process of being "put" to the server (I don't get an error message or anything when synchronising), but when I check the live site the changes don't appear. I've tried refreshing the page and emptying the cache, but nothing seems to work. I've verified that I can connect to my web server and have verified the root directory and they are both fine.
The only thing that is unusual when synchronising is that (for the past day) the six files in the attached screenshot always want to synchronise (even though they haven't been updated). I deleted them from the site and added them again in case they somehow became corrupted, but they still randomly want to synchronise.
Any suggestions? It seems like there would be an easy solution for this, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Close DW. Reboot your computer. Open DW.
If you still cannot FTP to server, go to Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache.

I can not receive files via bluetooth from other external devices nokia, samsung and other than apple. I can send files to them but not receive. What is the problem?
I sucessfully transfered files from my Nexus4 to MBP via Bluetooth
1. Go to system preference and select Sharing.
2. Check the Bluetooth sharing.
3. Specify directory to which you want to recieve files from Blue tooth device.
4. Turn Blue tooth off and make it on.
Your MBP is now ready to recieve files from Andoriod phone. -
I suddenly can't receive emails from senders at a particular domain. They can receive emails from me. I haven't blocked them. Any suggestions on how to 'reopen the line' will be appreciated, thanks.
Contact iCloud support. Apple's spam filters may have detected spam coming from users on that domain and blocked all email from it.

IChat File Transfer/Video Chat won't work... :(
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to get ichat to allow file transfers/video chatting on my Mac, I have a feeling that the setup through the routers that we have are not allowing it to function as it is constantly giving me errors. My set up is a Cable Modem hooked into a Netgear WGR614 v6 and then an ethernet wire running from that router to a Linksys WRT54G v8. I have the WRT54G set up with the following settings:
IP: 192.168.1.136
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Static DNS 1 and 2: Are my IP's DNS servers
Static DNS 3 is blank
Local IP address is .199 with a subnet of 255.255.255.128
I have DHCP enabled starting at .200 with 30 users
My computer is also set up statically at port .233.
The Netgear WGR614 v6 is set up with the following settings:
Get IP/DNS dynamically from ISP
DHCP Range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.51. Router is on a subnet of 255.255.255.0 the linksys is set up statically to the Netgear
SO, this brings me to my issue, I am trying to get ichat file transfer/video to work, I have followed the instructions for setting up portforwarding from portforward.com for ichat on both the netgear and the linksys. On the linksys, i set the IP address to forward to as my computers (.233)
On the netgear, i set the ip address to forward to as 192.168.1.136 (the static IP of the linksys).
Anyway, I am hoping someone can point out what I am doing wrong as I am still getting this error: An AIM error has occurred. Unable to talk directly to your buddy. I am also getting this error: An AIM service error occurred. The server message was: Serv:RequestTimeout.
My OS X firewall is off.

I am not sure I have understood your Networking here.
You say the Netgear is getting an IP (Via DHCP) from the ISP.
You go onto say it is at 192.168.1.1
It issues IP addresses from 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.51 and the Linksys has an IP outside this range at 192.168.1.136
Your computer is at 192.168.1.233
As both devices are using the 192.168.1.xxx group and doing DHCP (even with restricted groups) how does the computer know which one to connect to ?
You should be able to change the group that each device is using for it's own network (I would suggest the Netgear)
You should also turn Off DHCP (to the LAN) in the Netgear so it's own network (subnet) only goes as far as the Linksys.
Similarly in the Linksys make sure DHCP is Off or change the Mac to use Manually (Static) with DHCP.
Both devices can do UPnP found in the Administration tab in the Linksys and the WAN page of the Netgear.
Turn Off/disable all Port Forwarding in both devices.
It may also pay to copy across the Linksys and Computer the DNS server IPs from the Netgear.

I looked on this site http://portforward.com/routers.htm
It lists many routing devices both modems and routers.
I did not see the Surfboard you listed but that does not mean it does not route (It just means it is not in the list)
Your computer is getting the IP 192.168.1.3 which means a device somewhere between you and the internet is routing.
Most likely in System Preferences > Network for the connection method you are using you can see a "Router IP" (192.168.1.1 is most likely based on the IP you get)
Type this into to your Web Browser like you would Apple.com
You should get a Pop Up.
Hopefully it will tell what device you are now trying to Log in to.
This info may help in looking in the Port Forward list.
If not check all the Motorola devices listed and then iChat in the Next page.
The third page from the Link page I gave you will detail the default access info (IP and User ID and Password) for each device you visit.
You may find that there is a common User ID and password across the various devices and this may work for you.
At Random this one says admin and motorola as the User ID and Password. (others may say different)
Don't worry about the fact it says to set a Static IP at this stage Or the Port Forwarding info further down each page.
You will hopefully be now looking at the web pages stored on the modem.
They work like any other web pages with menu items and links to other pages.
Search all the menu items and link to see if the device has UPnP
It tends to be in different places on different routing devices but try Advanced or Admin as well as anything to to do with opening ports.
A Status page like the first pic on the second link page I listed may well tell you if it has UPnP enable or not (but this is not always the case)
Tell us what you find out or if you have some other routing device in between you and the Motorola Surfboard.

Can't share screen or video chat with AIM
I'm trying to set up screen sharing and video chat with other AIM 'buddies' but the little icons for both remain greyed out when I select the buddy if the buddy is an AIM account. I also have messages configured for my GMail account. When I click on a GMAIL 'buddy' those icons switch from grey to active. So it looks like I can start a screen sharing/video chat session with GMail but not AIM folks. Any thoughts on what could be the problem? I've already deleted all iChat related preferences from my ~/Library/Preferences folder. This system was an upgrade from Lion which had had iMessages beta on it.

Video Chat requires that you have a enough Internet Speed.
A minimum of 128kbps upload (normally the lower) is required.
However this is the Apple declared minimum and a real world figure of 256kbps is best. (it is several times the fastest possible Dial up speed).
As Screen Sharing in iChat is basically an Audio Chat + then you have to be able to Video Chat (Same min speed requirement) first.
Screen Sharing also requires a random internet port that means using UPnP in your router or Modem to Open ports.
If the icons at the Bottom of the Buddy List are greyed out go to the Video Menu.
Check the Video Chat Enabled is ticked and the same for Screen Sharing.
If they are then open the Connection Doctor from the same Menu and check Capabilities. (report these)
Having said that the Internet Speed you have and the Settings would effect both types of Buddy list.
That leaves the type of Applications the Buddy is using.
Jabber (In this case GoogleTalk ) Buddy lists will not video or Audio chat to people logged in via a Browser or the Google Talk App for PCs or other Non iChat/Messages but Jabber able apps on PCs or Macs (it is only iChat or Messages the Buddy has to have).
An AIM Buddy could be logged in via AIM Express (Access via a Browser)
This would tend to have them Not show the Video or Audio iCons (green ones in the Buddy list) rather than "disable" the Buddy List icons.
Having laid it all out with some suggestions I am now confused.
Go to the General Section of the Messages Preferences an untick the item about gathering all Accounts into one list.
This will create at least two Buddy Lists (Jabber/Google and AIM).
The settings in the Video menu should effect both Buddy lists.
If you toggle Off and On again the Video, Audio and Screen Sharing options does anything change ?
The Messages Beta issue will not be a factor.

In Dreamweaver 5.5 (OS 10.7) I suddenly can't FTP to the remote server. I had this problem a couple months ago (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5145574#5145574) and it was fixed by the following suggestion:

This worked for me the last time, but unfortunately it hasn't solved the current problem.
At the moment, the updated files go through the normal process of being "put" to the server, but the changes don't appear when I check the live site. I've tried refreshing the page and emptying the cache. The files seem to be uploading to the correct location (they are not being put into a sub folder or anything). I've verified that I can connect to my web server. I haven't changed anything in my site definition and this problem just appeared out of the blue.
Just like when this happened to me before, there are random files that want to synchronise (even though they haven't been updated), but nothing changes on the remote server. I've also tried to synchronize by 'deleting remote files not on local drive', but that doesn't help.

Let's try one browser at a time. Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder then the Safari folder. Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
If that didn't help, from your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
Now launch Firefox. From the Firefox menu bar click Firefox / Preferences then select the
Advanced tab then the Network tab. Click: Clear Now.
Relaunch Firefox.
If nothing above has helped either browser, login to your Mac to another user account. Try Safari there. If you can't download files from Safari there, then it's a system wide problem. Boot from your install disc. Run Disk Utility to verify and if necessary, repair any errors on the startup disk.

StageWebView suddenly can't load embed YouTube video
Once we developed app for Mobile Device with Adobe Air, we need embed the Youtube video to the app. For easiest way, we use StageWebView of AIR, so we can directly load Youtube Embed video like a frame.
It used to be working. But from today, it suddenly not working. the video just show the blank screen or "An error occurred while performing this operation." message.
I think Youtube may change some setting of its video pages. The youtube homepage or search page are still working in StageWebView.I saw this last week - I have never used StageWebView before for displaying video but decided to give it a go.
Just kept getting a black screen in the simulator when trying to run a video from YouTube - I assumed there was some kind of issue running it with YouTube so I looked for another way to do what I wanted.
