I think i just broke my Micro Photo

Well, i really don't know if this is the right place to put it, but here it is.
Alright, with out me getting into too much detail lets just say that i came into my room and dropped my Micro Photo about 3 feet from the air onto my wood desk, which it then fell about 4 feet onto my carpeted floor. This has happend a few times before but i don't ever remember it being this bad. Usually i can get my MP3 to start working after about 5 minutes when this happens.
Well, i put in the battery and then i put the slider thing on, i turn on my MP3, it starts up, but sadly it gets to about the second screen where the player lights up and then it just freezes at that screen.
I put my ear next to the MP3 where the hard dri've is and all i hear is this sound playing in the background, kinda sounds like something that would be on one of those old Nintendo systems, like the NES...
Is there anything i can do? or is my Zen just completely **bleep**ed?
Any help would be appreciated.

hey. i cant believe i read this, because the same thing just happened to me! it was several days ago. i didnt even realize until i tried to use it, and like you said, it freezes at the second screen. i was so shocked. and i remember it slipping of out my hand shortly before that, and so i'm guessing that was the cause. but yeah, i'm super upset and want to know if it's relati'vely fixable, or maybe needs a new battery? i just bought the ac charger for it and was all excited, now i'm pissed. hopefully we can both get a response? and maybe we can figure out how to get ours fixed. if you hear anything, let me know!!!

Hi, im a little stuck with something.
I bought a laptop and my music is in iTunes on my home computer and alot more is on my laptop. I don't want to have to upload all that music on my new laptop as there is tons and some of it I don't have the CD to anymore.
ok so i followed itunes suport instructions by making my ipod not automatically upload songs from my home pc...so then i tried to connect it to my dell laptop and it didnt work so then i kinda gave up and then i pluged it back into my home computer and it didnt register that my ipod was pluged in either... its the original 15gb no click wheel and it took me forever to work and save up enough money to buy it... im stuck and i definately cannot afford to buy another one....i feel as if im gonna die...
my ipod is my life and i think i just messed it up

I appear to have just deleted my entire aperture library - I don't even know how I did it
I was looking in dropbox and deleted lots of image files that i thought were just duplicates, but looking back it may have been from the desktop - i really have no idea
But going back into aperture they have all disappeared, and i emptied the trash (sob!)
Anyway I can restore them - I don't think i have naything backed up - would it do that anywhere automatically ?

This is great, but I just last night had a conversstion with someone using Dropbox, and it was called to attention that if with only one drive and volume, a simple drag to Dropbox may transfer things that can then be deleted be the sharing partner. With one drive, Option drag will prevent this, which I am glad to see did not happen to you.

i just got the micro photo and i havnt actually heard this but i've had it implied on me..........does the micro photo come with a charger or anything that can charge it or make it li've.........or am i going to have to buy one.......cause then i would really be pissed............

Nope it dont come with a charger. they make you spend money to buy it separately. I bought mine today at walmart for 24.76

Zen micro photo proble

ok so i've had my zen micro photo since last summer, which means that the creative lab crew wont help me since my purchase is over a year old. lame. well i had a minor 2 ft drop with my buddy, and it wont work. when i turn it on, it freezes on the "creative" screen. then when i get to the option window so i can attempt to clean it out, it wont work, i would like to say that it freezes also on all the options, but i cant really tell. those are i guess minor problems. i dont really know, but it also will occassionally make this odd "skipping" noise when i take the battery out and replace it so it will restart. this kid at Best Buy said that it has a small rotating disk on the inside and that it could of cracked or isnt on properly. but this is a drag. and you would think that i could just plug my baby into the computer with the USB cord,but now it wont even respond to the computer, or the computer wont recognize it. if you have any advice that would be swell.

i asked that same question because my zen micro broke no responded, but i did get a microphoto and have not had any problems yet.

I've had my Zen Micro Photo 8gb for a month & have discovered some interesting quirks: first, I don't believe mine is defecti've, though I've had problems. I have encountered freezing on both the "Zen Microphoto" logo and "rebuilding library" screen; I scoured this forum and the Knowledge Base for answers, trying all that seemed applicable?- I tried disk cleanup and reboot (leading to rebuilding library freezes), reformats & carefully reloading the latest firmware?a couple of times. I've drawn some conclusions:?) Mediasource software is not working for me; when I switched to using only Windows Media , most problems went away.2) For whatever reason, "rebuilding library" can only be accomplished while my Zen is connected to the computer - should this be the case?3) It seems like the times my screen freezes on the "Zen Microphoto" logo I may have held the "on" switch to the side a little longer than necessary; I'm wondering if this is happening because I'm holding the switch on a little too long?Anyway, I love the size, look and sound of this player, so I hope to keep using it. NOTE: can anyone from CREATIVE tell me if there will be future firmware updates? Thanks

I run windows XP pro . sp2, its quite strange.. it should work. ! **bleep** IT SHOULD WORK ! :smileyindifferent: , and the wirld thing is. i also try'ed it on another windows XP machine at work.. and it didient work there either. im beginning to question if this is the product for me. its realy sad though, i love the zen design.. not to mention the price.
It realy realy bugs me that the zen micro photo isset supportet on windows 2000, i had this vision of syncronizing my work calender with the zen ... and now its just not possible ! unless my boss wants to give me a new laptop.. and i dont think that will happen . hehe

Having big problems with Creative Zen Micro Photo!! I need much urgent help!

Hi. I am having a big problem with my MP3 Creative Zen Micro Photo device at the computer.Here is the thing:Before I bought this I had the regular Zen Micro & having fun with it. I had no problems with that when I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs. So I bought the Zen Micro Photo & installed it my computer. As normal I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs & pictures.So I reinstalled Windows XP at my computer, and when I installed the CD that followed to transfer new songs, the Windows said that it's an unknown thing I have connected in the USB.So I installed Service Pack & 2. I have tried to install drivers from the cd but it seems that there are no drivers on the cd! The big problem is that when I connect the MP3 to the computer, it doesn't read it's a Zen Micro, it's just unknown! So the Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer program doesn't work & I can't transfer songs or picture on it! And it just happened after I re-installed Windows on my computer. The same thing happened on my brother's computer after he re-installed windows. And when I connect the MP3 to the USB, it says that it's not a USB 2.0, but .! And I am sure it is 2.0 because it has always been like that before I re-installed windows. Also the MP3 does not re-charge when I put it my computer! The battery is just the same, it tries to do it but it doesn't. So I am using my sisters computer to charge the MP3 & transfer songs. I have tried everything but I can't seem to understand what the problem is? I have never experienced something like this before, and I really hope you can help me with this! To be honest I think what I am missing is the driver. So can someone PLEASE provide me the link for the driver? I have downloaded all those 3 on www.creative.com, but they are none of them! Also that playforsure firmawre thingy does not work because it sais that I have to connect my MP3, and it is connected already!Please reply as quick as possible! Thanks a lot for you kind help!

Bought A Micro Photo Need H

Ok so I bought a micro photo... I read all the topics concerning issues about the player using Vista... So let me get this straight...
1. I have to use a computer with Windows XP to download the firmare so I can be able to use my?Micro Photo?with Vista
2. I need Windows Media Player 0 for the firmare to work on the Micro Photo...
Once I get the firmare updated I can then put Windows Media Player back?up or do I have to keep it at version 0 still?

Zen Micro Photo wont und

Hi guys hope you can help?I am having problems with my Zen Micro Photo. Where as before when leaving explorer my player would undock, now it just stays docked and I am afraid to remove it from the USB. Zen micro photo malfunct

I got a zen micro photo a couple of weeks ago, every thing installed fine, it worked perfect. Then one day I go to plug it in for a charge and get an error message "One of the divices attached to this computer has malfunctiond and windows does not recondnise(spell) it. As soon as i get this error, the zen micro completly freezes. The only way i can turn it off is if i take out the battery. At first i thought this was the player it self, so i went beck and returned it. Got a brand new one and everything. I had all the software installed so i just plugged it in and guess wat... i got the same error! I tried reinstalling everything and starting from scratch, but i keep on getting the same error. I need help guys! I want to get this thing to work and there is no way in heck that im getting an IPOD! Im running win xp sp2 recently i installed a usb 2.0 card (which is plug and play) this was inbetween the time i hadn't charged my zen yet. I tried pluging it back to my old usb ports but i still got the same error. I dont think its the usb card...
i need help plz! I cant charge it because it freezes when i plug it in and my battery is almost dead.

I never encountered this with my MicroPhoto, perhaps one of the devices malfunctioning could be in your computer itself and not the player?

6GB Zen Micro Photo same price as 30GB iPod pho

I do like Creative, but I do not understand why Creative has been suggesting that their new Zen Micro Photo will be priced at US$350. That is a full hundred dollars more than the current 6GB Player, and the same price as the iPod Photo with more than 3x the storage and a larger screen. Also, a color screen Dell MP3 is available for $200.
Maybe Creative is planing another price mark-down: lowing the price of the current micros into the $50 range and putting the Zen Micro Photo in the $250 range.
Anyway, I was just curious on what your opinion was. Would you buy the ZM Photo 6GB for $350 or for the same price, the 30GB iPod Photo Why do you think the ZM Photo is priced so high?

Playing zen micro photo thru usb on warfedale portable cd pla

<font face="Garamond">i just got a warfedale cd player which is supposed to be able to play music from mp3s or usb device but when i plug in my zen micro photo via usb to the front, it just charges and doesn't play. it does work on my brother's archos mp3 but not my mum's smaller archos. hers and mine both charge thru usb, his doesn't, so maybe that's?y?i thought that maybe a lead going from jack plug to usb might work on mine but can't find one anywhere, tho the guy in one shop said he could make one he didn't think it would work and that it should work thru usb anyway. i now wonder whether its just down to settings. can anyone help with this?:angry::robotmad::manmad::womanmad:?

Cheap/free DIY Zen Micro/Photo Case and wall charg

Ahoy! I've been on the Head-Fi forums and figured to check out these and didnt find much.
Its simple to make a hardcase for your Zen Micro or Micro Photo, check out mine!
I used a penguins mint tin, (like Altoids but caffinated)
also, the standard wall charger for USB motorola phones will charge your Zen Micro Photo
its still a 5v usb charger, it works and you can find them cheaper than one from
creative

This was very easy to do.
Take the mint tin, trace it onto the back of a peice of foam (the white plasticy side)
cut slightly inside the line, about /3 a centimeter.
measure the height of the tin and take about /5 to /4 of a cm off of that and cut straight down the long edge of the foam, its an exact fit (if you want it fitted like mine)
you will need TWO of these, its double layered
Check the fit of the peice before you place anything.
i placed the sides first but do whatever you find easiest.
fold the long peices in half to find the center and just start applying from the bottom of the tin.
next, cut a peice big enough to cover your screen but not the buttons.
take the sticky side off and lay the foam, sticky side up, onto the screen. close the tin.
Your MOST of the way done
now take a dremel (what i used) or what ever else. maybe a nail and hammer the corners and scisor the between? (that may be sharp)
and you have yoruself a great case everyone will marvel at and youll be proud of it, post your pics here or atleast email me at [email protected]

I deal with the slight buzzing while the screen is on, i just haev my screen cut off in 0sec of idle and its good to go, thats a known bug.
Also, one time my zen kinda froze booting but that was a fluke adn has been fine since then.
I Love my hard case i made, it has a mysterious ding in it but that just means that i spared my zen from that same ding.
I've been IM'd and asked abotu it overheating in the enclosure and i've used it in the sun for hours on end and the zen itself stays cool, i dont think there is a problem with that at all.
If you rmaking one know that its one layer of foam on the bottom and two on the sides.
the easiest way to apply the screen protector is to peel the sticky off of lay it on the screen, sticky side up and then just close the lid.
I had the idea of putting a hole in the lid where the screen is and glueing the clear plastic from a CD case but scrapped that idea because it would look tacky and get dirty.

ZEN MICRO PHOTO USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNI

help !! i am also having a problem similar to your and just about everyone elses on here. I just purchased a zen microphoto for xmas a month ago and it has been a nightmare . it has worked for about a month perfectly then it ceased to be recognized by? my Alienware area 5 desktop system which previously recognized it fine. I took all of the steps and scanned all of the forums then realized that after uninstalling my windows media player and rolling back to 0 it began to be recognized again. well then surprisingly and maybe not so much so after looking at so many of the post of these forums. Well I have taken so many steps to try to get my ZEN MICRO PHOTO to once again become recognized by my computer? and yet again all efforts have been fruitless. I reformated my ZEN MICROPHOTO?and now when i plug it in a small window pops up at the bottom stating that the USB DEVICE IS NOT RECOGNIZED . I then cannot upload new firmware and can in fact do absolutely nothing but gaze at the player which boots up then fades to black while my pc sees my player as an unknown usb device. I even reformated the pc for the sake of the player , cutting off the nose despite the face in other words and still no dice. I have windows xp service pack 2 , all updates and bios up to date. My pc is only 2 years old and have a lexmark printer? a mouse and a keyboard attched to it , none of which create conflict. Even after reformatting my pc i made sure my player was one of the first peripherial devices connected and all to no avail. I think this is a disgrace that such a compnay as CREATIVE cannot put foward a quality product. Does anyone out there have any solid suggestions on how to fix this proiblem if so they would be gretaly apprecaited. ThanksEdward

vacantmind: You might also want to make sure that you get the latest drivers and software as follows:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2. and 3. (the player must be connected for 2. to verify you have a Creative product).
Also an important test is to install the drivers and software on another PC, say a friend's, and see whether you have the problem. If you don't, then the issue is with your PC, or a compatibility issue with the player. If you do, then there's something wrong with the cable or player.

Micro Photo and Play cou

Hi, I was just wondering if the micro photo 8gb included a play count feature, where it can tell you you listened to this song 3 times and this song 383 times. I know it doesn't seem important but it is for my situation. Thanks a lot.Also, in some reviews they said you can't view pictures and music at the same time, but they said this would probably eventually be fixed. Has it yet?

I would hazard a guess that the charger's identical. The batteries are different, but my understanding is that the Photo battery is simply higher capacity.
I think there were one or two Singapore users here that had a Photo, so perhaps one of them can confirm.
