I think my iPod is well and truly stuffed

Hello all
I need some serious help with my iPod
I have a 20GB iPod photo which was working supremely while I was in Europe and I got home and downloaded some more music and also downloaded the newest version of iTunes which then proceeded to wipe my library from the former iTunes that I had but it meant i had to put everything back into the library which is done
This version of iTunes works well and does everything it is supposed to do besides putting songs onto my iPod
Having said that it does do something terribly strange when I first tried to update the library on my iPod iTunes asked me that question about changing libraries which it normally does on someone elses computer when I have been viewing photos etc. So i clicked yes and proceeded as usual and the next thing i know it wipes all my songs off and then proceeds to tell me i have a disk write problem ie "Attempting to copy to the disk <iPod name> failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
So I took it in to the Apple centre and they looked at it and restored the iPod and reformatted to PC and it appeared to work for them......
I have got it back and plugged the iPod to the computer and started uploading songs and then it started working as it should do and then gradually slows down over time to the point where it stops and says "Attempting to copy to the disk <iPod name> failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
So i try to update again in iTunes get a few songs further and then stops and "Attempting to copy to the disk <iPod name> failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
Just brilliant
Can anyone shed light on my problem as I only have half my library on my iPod!!!!!

  • My question is, when i bought my sons ipod I created the account with my email, the I purchased an ipod as well and used to same account.  I want him to have his own account so he can't access my itunes money.

My question is, when I bought my sons ipod I created the account with my emai, then I purchased an ipod as well, so we share an account.  I want him off of my account.  How do you do that, he has his own computer.

His own password for what? You can only have one password for one account.
He can use your account for items and he can also use his own account. To purchase items with a different account you go to Settings>Store and sign out and sign into the other account.
To update apps you have to sign into the account the purchased them.

  • My husband and I share an itunes account, our child now has an ipod as well and we would like to be able to share SOME music w/her and RESTRICT some as well, is there a way to do this under one account?

Will we have to create a seperate account for her, or can we all have the same one?  I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
    PLEASE HELP!!!

FYI: iTunes account (used to make purchases) is not the same as iTunes library (iTunes on your computer with music, movies, etc.).

You can but you will not be able to limit what she syncs.
I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
I don't recommend using (only) the checkmarks to select what to sync.
Each of you can create your own playlists then sync only those playlists.
Then add/delete from your own playlists to change iPod content.
The only time I uncheck items is if I rarely/never want to sync them to anything, such as Christmas music or old audiobooks.
I suggest you each have your own computer login account. Then everyone has their own contacts, calendars, and everything else.
You and your husband can share an iTunes library and let your daughter have her own.

  • Well and truly fed up with poor customer service a...

I have been logging several issues with bt support and had 4 engineer visits to sort out my broadband.
When we first moved in the broadband connection was good approx 4mb. This declined last year to under 1mb
The bt customer support line were useless on most occasions and did little to help and when they say they willl increase the ip profile they do not.
The engineers are generally very good.
The last time i reported the problem to the support people they sent an engineer that never showed up at our house but was at the exchange and then a very rude indian man phoned me to say there was nothing that could be done to improve our broadband...  Final straw yes even better was we can have a £2 discount if we sign up for another year!!!
If my neighbour who uses another provider can get 12mbs broadband why cant i even get 2mb or 3 mb ?
    -------------------- enough moaning now---------------------------------
Can anyone advise on a solution?
the socket is brand new asdl socket and is the main socket into the house. It has been tested and a speed of 5762 kb's was detected at the socket.
the phone line has been checked and this was ok.
I have replaced the only filter i use on the phone upstairs with a new one.
The home hub is the 2.0 variety.

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.
    $19.99 - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

  • My IPod no longer shuffles songs within playlists that are clearly set to shuffle.  It is about 3/4 full so I thought of maybe compressing the files to get more space.  Do you think that is the problem and if that might help?

My IPod no longer shuffles songs within playlists that are clearly set to shuffle.  It is about 3/4 full so I thought of maybe compressing the files to get more space.  Do you think that is the problem and if that might help?

Storage space on the iPod would not affect shuffled playlists or playlist shuffling, though substantially full iPods may wind up skipping songs on larger playlists after a while, and require a restart.  As for compressing the files themselves, you can automatically re-encode files to a lower bitrate by checking the box on the summary page when your iPod is connected to your PC/Mac.
As for the shuffle problem, after restarting your iPod (hold the center button and Menu for a few seconds, until the Apple logo appears), make sure you're telling the iPod to shuffle the songs in a playlist by repeatedly clicking the center button until the Suffle Menu comes up, then scroll to the right to turn it on.  From that song forward, the playlists' contents should be shuffled every time the playlist ends, or is accessed from a new song.
Shuffle does sometimes turn itself off, I've found, so double-check the setting is still on.  Also, iPods shuffle by randomly assigning a playlist order for your songs, which is different from traditional shuffle (on, say, iTunes or Windows Media Player, where the new song is determined at random upon the current track ending.  The iPod only chooses a random order of songs when you shuffle, to conserve battery life and queue up songs coming up on the playlist in the event of a shock).

    If not under warranty,
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it.  If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

hello, i have lost my ipod (5th generation) and i have tried to use ' find my iphone' but it says my ipod is offline so i think its dead....what should i do?

    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

I've asked identical questions but received no answers.

It shouldn't be.  You can use multiple Apple ID's one one device. But keep in mind that purchases made under one ID are permanently tied to that ID.  So if you need to update an app that was purchased with a certain Apple ID, it will needed to be updated with those Apple ID credentials.
