Can't install latest itunes. error msg: "This installer has insufficient priviliges to access this directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\ITunes. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator." I am logged on as administrator and have been since i've owned this laptop. Any suggestions?
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -
My laptop will not let me install the latest version of iTunes, it says 'the installer has insufficient piviledges to access this directory' and tells me to log on as the administrator, even though I am logged on as the administrator. Please help!!

I've had iTunes on my PC forever. Because recent updates have aborted with the message:"The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory... Log on as administrator," I am now attempting to download a fresh copy from the Apple website. Same message! I am logged on as administrator. I can download, then attempt to run by right-clicking on the installer and selecting, "Run as administrator" but that gets me only to the same point (and message) as attempting to install directly from the internet. I've never seen this message with any other download. What gives?
What's the precise name of the directory being mentioned? (Give the full file path, please.)

I am trying to download the newest version of ITunes. When I try the download, it starts and after a bit the following message appears "The installer has insufficient priviledges to access this directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Start\Menu\Programs\ITunes The installation can not continue...."
Can someone please help?
Thanks,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your taking the time to help me with this problem. I'm doing a healing technician training class at my church, and have most of my study material on my ipod. It cashed this weekend which hindered my preparation for my class tomorrow night. I went to the local "Apple Store" late last night and they could get me up and running. They suggested that I call the APL CARD line which I did today, but they gave me a nice run around seccession, and did nothing. Then I was lead to "Google" my question, which eventually lead me to the "Apple" site. Praise the LORD for your help and may you be richly blessed with multiplied blessings in all that you put your hands to do. May you receive a great harvest. As far as I'm concerned you were used by the LORD, and are the real genius!!!
Thanks

I am trying to install iTunes 10.7 and keep getting this error message (I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit):
"The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\common\files\apple\MobileDeviceSupport\Sync Services\....\Windows"
There seem to be other threads that deal with other permission errors, those fixes did not work for this.

I am currently unable to download the latest version of itunes?I am receiving a message- The installer has insufficient privlidges to access this directory. Any suggestions please?
The installer has insufficient privlidges to access this directory.
What's the precise text of the message, emma? (There's a couple of different ones I can think of that you might be getting.) -
The installer has insufficient privilages to access this directory.
I have just downloaded itunes 9, it installs until I get the following error message
the installer has insufficient privilages to access this directory.
C:progrem.files\itunes\itunes.resouces\da.lpro\DevicePrefsPodcasts.nb
installation can't continue, log on as an administrator
I have tried system restore but that doesn't seem to take me back to my old itunes.
thanks for any helpthe installer has insufficient privilages to access this directory. C:progrem.files\itunes\itunes.resouces\da.lpro\DevicePrefsPodcasts.nb
That one could be disk/file damage, b.
Try running a chkdsk over your C drive. There's instructions and a guided help in the following Microsoft document:
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Adobe Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory:
Adobe Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Programs Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0 when trying to update Adobe Reader 10.01 on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine. What I've found is that once I allow Adobe Updater to download updates, the 1.0 folder is created under ARM. As long as I don't start the update, I can access this folder. Once the update starts, if I try to access this folder I get an access denied message and the install fails with the Error 1303 message. I've tried making myself the Owner of the folder, tried running KB947821, have disabled the Firewall and shut off the UAC, none of which works. My guess is that there is a problem with the update itself changing the security.
Anyone have any other ideas beyond waiting for the next update, that will hopefully work better than this one?
thanks!
