I TRY TO OPEN IPHOTO AND I COULD NOT.  WHEN I CLICK ON THE ICON DID NOT EVEN BOUNCE.  THEN I DRAGED IT ON MY DESKTOP AND NOW I CAN'T EVEN FIND THE ICON ANYWHERE, what can i do???

iOS?  or OSX
OSX = Finder > Applications > iPhoto. Double click the app to open it.
The icon (alias) will then be back on the dock. Right click the Icon > Keep in Dock.
Icons dragged off the dock vanish in a puff of smoke.. they are only aliases (shortcuts)
If you mean iOS I can't really understand what is happening..

I just downloaded more then 2000 photo's from my NIKON camera into iPhoto. Shortly after that my battery life was depleted and so I plugged the computer back into power and after I opened iPhoto later, I could not find those photos anymore!! Help where are they? How can I retrieve them or are they lost???
    Please help me!!!

Do you see more photos, when you enable "Hidden Photos" in the "View" menu?
And that was afetr I took the connection with the NIKON out of my laptop.
Check, if you really imported into your iPhoto library - is the preference setting "Advanced > Importing: Copy items to the iPhoto Library" active?  If not, connect your Nikon again - do you now see more photos?
If you imported into the iPhoto Library, check inside the package:
Select your iPhoto library in the Finder, ctrl-click it, use the command "Show Package Contents".
There will be a folder named "Masters" inside, with subfolders named by year - month - day. Look for the date you did the import and check, if the photos are inside.
If yes, copy this folder to a folder on your desktop to save the photos.
If not, search for a folder "Importing" inside the library. Is it there? Then copy these photos to a folder on the Desktop.
If you found your photos, backup and rebuild your library.

I try to open iphoto and it comes up with You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto. I have downloaded photo manager and it's telling me to update but it wont update...

iPhoto is Apple's included program to manage your photo's and pictures.
It receives updates over time with Software updates and new machine or iLife purchases.
When iPhoto gets updated or a newer version is used, it may alter iPhoto support files, but newer iPhoto versions usually always compatible with older files which it then updates.
If you used a newer iPhoto on your iPhoto support files, then they got altered to the newer format, older iPhoto versions can't read the older format.
Somewhere along the line you somehow got a older version of iPhoto on your computer, you need to fine the newer version of iPhoto (not this photo manager, sounds like another program)
Or somewhere along the line you used a newer iPhoto version (like on another Mac) and it altered the iPhoto support files on your older version of iPhoto.
So the key here is to find the newest version of iPhoto and use that to access your iPhoto support files.
If you didn't access your iPhoto support files from another Mac, then you should have the newer iPhoto version on your computer.
Once you find it, and get it in the Dock, you should remove the older iPhoto version from your computer to prevent this from happening again.
Lastly, if the newer version of iPhoto is somehow gone off your computer, you should be able to get a copy off the latest OS X install disk or iLife using a free program called Pacifist.

Then you need to check for updates for iPhoto in the program itself, the current version is 9.1.2

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Or....
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Or....
Try downloading another app - any free app is fine. See if that resets the other apps.

Do you still have all toolbars visible (View > Toolbars)?
Did you use an extension or the standard zoom buttons that you can find in the toolbar palette in the View > Toolbars > Customize window ?
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.

  • I updated my computer and now I can't play mov files from anywhere

I updated my computer and now I can't play mov files from anywhere - won't play in FCP 7, Quicktime. Not sure what updates they were specifically since i hit the "update All" button without going over each one. Please help!! operating on 10.6.8 with FCP7

Just take a look at the last few days posts here and you'll see many people with the same problem and some possible solutions.
But you should never do any software updates unless you have a bootable backup of your startup drive.  FCP7 is no longer being supported by apple and updating anything is fraught with dangers.

  • I recently updated to the latest version of Yosemite.  My iPhoto icon was not active. I updated to the latest iPhoto and now I can't find my photos or use iPhoto.  What is up?

I need help with updating and using iPhoto.  I have lost all my pictures and can't open iPhoto.

You need to give a full description of your problem. What version do you have? What happens when you try to open iPhoto? What help do you need updating? Remember we can't see your machine.

  • Loaded iLife 06, opened iPhoto and now our iPhoto Library isn't showing up!

So I installed iLife and opened iPhoto and received an error message telling me to go and "apply read write permissions to all enclosed items" - so I did this and now when I open iPhoto nothing comes up in the Library! Where are my photos hiding and how do I get them back to my iPhoto Library? Thanks for any and all help.

It appears that you've been victimized by the corrupt database file issue that's been reported more and more lately. You'll probably have to start over with a new library and import the full sized original files from your old library.
1 - check in your library folder to see if it appears similar to this. If so then it's been converted to the V6 folder system and your full sized photos will be located within the Originals folder inside subfolders representing each roll in the library.
2 - If your at V6 move your iPhoto Library folder to the desktop.
3 - launch iPhoto and create a new library.
4 - drag the single Originals folder from the old library into the open iPhoto window.
This will produce a library with the same rolls as your old library but there will be no keywords, albums, etc.
If you current library is still in the V5 format post back as you have a more difficult task in getting just the full sized files out and into a new library.
As Dave mentioned, if you have a backup copy of your library folder we can start with it and have a much better chance of recovering your library or at least most of it.

  • Started using iphoto and now windows can't see camera

I borrowed my friend's digital camera and now he can't use his camera on his Dell. We had gone back and forth before with the same camera, the problem started when I set my Powerbook to launch iPhoto whenever I plugged the camera in. I don't actually remember doing that, but I hadn't been using iPhoto before.
I also used to be able to see the camera as a mounted volume, but I can't anymore. The only way we can access the camera contents is to import them into my iPhoto.
He is (shockingly!) annoyed with me because he can't use his camera anymore except on my computer. How do I undo this? I can't even see a way to stop iPhoto from launching automatically when I plug the camera in, and I can't get the camera to mount as a volume on my Powerbook.

    Welcome to Discussions.
To get Iphoto to quit opening when you attach the camera:
    IMAGE CAPTURE
Go to the Applications folder and open Image Capture.
The preferences in Image Capture determine what happens when a camera or card reader is attached.
Check the camera menu for how it is setup for a USB connection. This may be the problem.

  • I try to open iPhoto and it asks what library file I want to use. I have Find Any File application that someone once gave me the "magic" file to search for, but I do not remember the file

I had this problem before and someone gave me a "magic" filename to search for using my Find Any File application, but I cannot remember the file name.  Is it iPhoto6-something?

    Hello Joel,
Don't know how to determine my OS
To determine your OS click on the apple in the upper left corner of your screen and click "About this Mac". The "About" panel will tell you all about your Mac.
On my mac (OS 10.7.3) I can search for iPhoto Libraries like this:
Select my Home Folder in the Finder
Type in ⌘-F to activate a search
Set the "Search" to "This Mac"
Set the "Kind" selector to "Other" and enter "iPhoto Library" into the search field.
This should reveal all iPhoto Libraries on your Mac.
With "Find any File" you could search for the ".iPhoto"-extension.

  • My older Ap1 version library did not open in iPhoto and now I can't get out of the "upgrade to v3 syndrome" to get back to my iPhoto library??

I abandonned Aperture with rev1 and now that iphoto claims to open Aperture libraries  went to see my long lost library on a whim and apple says I must upgrade to version 3 of Aperture to convert the library so iPhot can open it. I don't want to. the lib was a backup on a hard drive from my old mac and I merely wanted to see the pics and then switch back to my current library. iPhoto will not let me get past the "upgrade Aperture or Quit" dialog box. How can I get my iphoto back from Apple control and get Apple out of my pockets? Anybody feeling this one?

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

  • How do I override the app store? A previous owner purchased iPhoto and now I can't accept/install on my MacBook Air.

My husband purchased a previously owned MacBook Air for my birthday. The computer had been used a total of ten times (verified by Genius Bar, along with a full diagnostic scan). Everything is okay with the computer. After it was wiped and I created my own account, I no longer had iPhoto or iMovie installed. Went to the App Store to install, clicked "accept" and received this error:
These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the applications.
I understand that the previous owner must have purchased iPhoto and iMovie, but how do I override this? I'm willing to purchase instead of just "accept;" but I can't find where to do that.
