I updated my mac os x mountain lion to v10.8.5 and my internal speakers and even connected earphones are not working. Please help
i updated my OS on macbook pro 13inch from mountain lion v10.8.4 to mountain lion v10.8.5 and when i played songs on itunes there was no sound from the speakers, when i plugged in my earphones there was still no sound. i restarted my mac a few times but still it did not help. I need to get my speakers started soon. Please help

Open the General tab of the Finder's preferences and set it not to be displayed on the desktop. Alternatively, if it's a disk image or external disk, just drag it to the Trash.

I backed up my Iphone to itunes so i can do the new Update to IOs 7 and so now that i updated it i want to backup and restore and its not working, Please help!
An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it. I would imagine your iPhone was hacked to make it work on your local carrier.
Updating the iOs to 5.xx will lock it back to the original carrier .The carrier holding the lock are the only
entity able to authorise the unlock .You will have to contact them and see if they unlock and the terms the apply -

it's been a while that Im unable to copy music from itunes to my iphone. I updated my device to the latest version of IOS 5.1.1 and made sure no jailbreak is installed but still not working. please assist.
Assuming you are not manually managing your music, verify the following:
You are using the latest version of iTunes
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library you have checked all the songs you want to sync to your phone
There are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
You have authorized your computer for all Apple IDs for purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize this computer)
You have checked "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
When everything looks correct, sync your phone. -

I think you misunderstood the guy. The up-to-date program isn't working for a lot of people. I'm eligible for the free upgrade but it fails to recognise my serial. From what I've read, this is affecting a lot of people who purchased their computers online. Apple seems to be fixing the issue though, so my advice would be to keep trying. Alternatively, click on the manual verificaton link so they can check your order for you and send the redemption code after they do.

From last week when iam syncing my iphone with my laptop and updating songs or apps iam facing some problems.
1) While iam trying to update my iphone with itunes for updating songs.First in library in itunes i will remove old songs and will update new songs,then after syncing with itunes my iphone4 it must show in music only new songs not old songs.but for me both mix it showing for me old and new songs.I tried in manual option also then also it showing same mix songs.please tell me how to over come this problem.I tried my removing update backup also then also it is not showing any advantage in it.
2) Another problem is while iam updating my iphone4 with itunes it automatically sync the apps also but after completing the update when iam trying to use apps in my iphone they are not working.
Please help me how to solve from these problems.No NAS other than an Apple one includes native support for AFP. They all use an open source package called Netatalk that is junk. Many years ago Apple deprecated the old security modules that Netatalk uses.
The easiest solution is to hack up Lion so that it will connect with the old security protocol. Do a search for "lion dhx2" or something like that. Another option is to update your NAS to a version of Netatalk that includes support for DHX2. That is easier said than done. Netatlk isn't as "open" as other open source packages. -
Updated my iphone 3gs, lost my music and apps, they are backed up on my computer but i cannot move them over to my phone, tried to sync but not working, please help
well first make sure that when you click on the name of your iphone on the left hand side of itunes that you go to the app and music tab and check mark the sync apps and sync music. then try clicking apply in the bottom right hand corner. then if not try doing it again after going to prefrences in the top menu and going to devices tab and click reset sync history if that doesnt work with music try and drop and drag to the name of your iphone, lastly if that doesnt work you can try restoring from a backup from before you updated. it will keep the new software but put everything that was on your phone when you created the backup back onto your phone.

Why can't I update my Mac Pro to Mountain Lion?
Here is the system info for my Mac Pro. I'm told I can't update to Mountain Lion because my Mac isn't compatible. I run pro Tools and now I can't even stay current because Pro Tools 11 requires 10.8 or better. *** is going with you Apple? I bought my 2012 Macbook pro June 21 2012. I qualify for the free OS X Mountain lion upgrade. I got my emails, one with the PDF file, one with the password to it. I open up the red PDF file, enter my password and it does NOT work. I took my password to the Mac App store, clicked Quick Link, Redeem, placed my code in and it STILL DOES NOT work. PLEASE HELP!!! I need the new OS, plus Im supposed to get it for free! Its not fair how they sent me a bad code / improper instructions on how to redeem it.

Another 10.4.11 problem, mac not working, please help
I know there are other topics on the 10.4.11 update messing up computers but i've tried their solutions and mine still won't work so any help would be really appreciated. I hadn't backed my recent stuff up aswell so i really don't want to just wipe it unless there is definately no other option.
I originally clicked ok to the update 10.4.11 for my emac thinking it would be a quick simple update... far from it!! I ended up holding the power button to turn my mac off after it froze on the update and since then when i turn it on it gets stuck on the grey screen.
I first tried archive and install and that goes really slow, does a check, starts the procedure then says there is an error and to try again, which i did about 3 times and still no luck. I then tried to hook my emac up to my macbook with a firewire cable, then firewire symbol shows on my emac but my HD doesn't show on my laptop (any ideas here?). So then i tried a disk repair and after about half an hr of spinning beachball it says 'Repairing disk failed with error - could not unmount disk'.

You must repair the HD somehow.
Have you tried booting from the Install CD/DVD then after you choose your language, a Menubar will show up top, find Disk Utility and run it from there.
If DU can't fix it then , your best bets are DiskWarrior from Alsoft...

Maverick update now my login screen does not work please help.
Hello hope you can help. I have a 24 inch Mid 2007 Intel iMac. It has been great until now. I recently did the Maverick update and now my login screen does not work. When I wake the computer up the screen appars with my picture icon. When I click on it nothing happens. If I click on it a second or third time the beach ball appears and nothing happens. I have to shut the unit down with the power button and when the unit powers back up everything works normally. Are there any suggestions out there? I have updated the software without resolution. Is this computer too old? Do I have to buy a new one?

Try a Safe Mode boot. That deletes some system caches that may help.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
See if there's an improvement for the login screen. -
Getting Asus ATI 4870 to work in my Mac Pro. Not working. please help!
I read here on these boards that an ATI 4870 would work in an early model (in my case, 2006) Intel Mac Pro.
I jumped in hastily and bought the Asus branded card: EAH4870
I connected it, and nothing... did not work.
I do not think it is a Mac version of this card, perhaps intended to be used in a windows machine.
Questions:
- Do I need to "flash: this card to make it work in my Mac Pro OSX 10.6.3?
- Are there Mac drivers for this card? I can't find anything anywhere
- Basically, can I get this card to work, or do I need to PAY the extra $$$$ just to have a "Mac" version of this.
Keep in mind, I am not a techie, I need to do Work, not fiddle with this kind of stuff.. unfortunately, a software package crucial for a job is very finicky and works with only a handful of cards.. The 4870 is one of them.
I do not have dual boot, and no windows machines to "flash" or rework this card.
If you can help me to get this card to work, it would be MOST appreciated!!!It is not a Mac version. It does not have the required EFI boot ROM needed to work on the Mac. Video drivers are contained in OS X. Either you have to have the card flashed (this is illegal) or buy a Mac version of the card.
If you aren't a "techie" then you don't have the hardware needed to flash the ROM nor know how. Because this site belongs to Apple we cannot help you with something that is illegal.
