I upgraded to 5.0.5 on my iphone4 and now 2 apps won't work - Skype and Pinterest. When I tap them they open and then immediately close. I have tried turning off my phone and deleting the apps then reinstalling them. They still don't work. What do I try next?

I am having the same problem. I am not able to load ESPN or any of its affiliated apps. I also tried craigslist and ebay using safari and no luck. I tried contacting ESPN and they told me to contact AT&T. So I have been chatting with an AT&T rep for about an hour and haven't had any luck. Do you mean that you updated your computer's iTunes or the iPad's iOS ?
If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Is your wife's iPhone using the same version of iOS?
Sounds to me like it is more an issue with the app than something to do with iOS. Have you contacted the developers (via app support page)?

I just updated my iphone to iOS5 and now my apps don't load. The screen blinks but nothing else happens. I tried rebooting but that didn't work.

I'm also having the same problem. Supposedly you need to remove the app from your phone and retrieve it from your computer. I haven't tried it myself. Just started reading posts and finding the best solution. It also might just be a case that the app itself has not been updated to the new iOS. Only time will tell I suppose.

I recommend trying these steps if you are experiencing issues with applications that use the Camera on your iPhone:
Camera is not functioning
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

After updating to ios5 on my iphone4 I cannot open apps, for instance, facebook, twitter, pandora, etc., when I touch them to open they blink once and the screen returns to normal. Safari and the like operate. ???

So i guess what's not working is the notification center. I swiped it and saw it but it's not showing the phone call or email that just came in. just the weather update! On my friend's phone who had upgraded she had a little bar across the top that was always there with current notifications. Mine doesn't do that. Any suggestions?

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

I am assuming the phone was working prior to you installing IOS 6? Did you use itunes to install IOS 6 or just run from the phone?
When I tried to do the Over The Air update to IOS6 on my iPhone 4, it errored out and I had to connect it to iTunes and select "Restore" from the summary screen after iTunes finds the phone is connected. If this works for you, it will go through a couple of reboots that take a few minutes to complete. It should then give you the option to start with a fresh new phone or to use one of your previous backups to load your contacts and other information, provided you have backed up the phone previously.
