I use a mac book pro and Iphone. I have syncronize both with the cloud. Now i find douplicate calendar events
What can I do?
On the Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Calendars then reselect, then restart your Mac.
On the iPhone tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Calendars off then back on then reset the iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

You have to add another email address on one of the two devices that you can use as the "You can be reached for FaceTime at" contact address and then remove/uncheck the Apple ID email address as the contact address on that device. The way you are currently setup is like to trying to call yourself on your on phone - from your own phone.
Using the iPad as the example go to Settings>FaceTime>You can be reached for FaceTime at>Add another email address. Then add a working email address in the next window. Apple will verify the email. Go to the inbox of that email account, read and respond to Apple's email in order to complete the verification process.
Go back to Settings>FaceTime>Uncheck the Apple ID email address and make sure that the new email address is checked/selected (you will see it being verified again) and that new email address will be your contact address for the iPad. -

My FaceTime has recently stopped working. I usually talk to my daughter but hadn't used it for a few weeks. I have tried to connect to my daughter in the last couple of days but without success. It rings and tries to connect but fails both on my Mac Book Pro and iPhone 4S. My daughter is able to connect to her friends but she cannot get through to me or I to her. Can anybody help?
Yeah, I don't think that's necessarily all the issues here (re: iOS update). I have 7 devices that have stopped functioning within the last week and all of my devices have the latest iOS on them. I came to the forums to see what's available for help, but I'm guessing I'll need a trip to the local Genius Bar.

Connect the HDD to your MBP. Open Disk Utility>Erase and drag the HDD icon inrt the Name field. The format should be Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Click on the Erase button.
Then try the clone process again. You may use Disk Utility>Restore or a third party cloning application such as Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper.

When I open Safari and try to go to youtube its states the following. Safari can't open the page "http://www.youtube.com/" because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.
This has been going on for two weeks. My son's macbook pro and my iphone get the same message when linked to my wireless connection. Yet, when I disconnect my wi-fi from my phone and use 3g, I'm able to pull up google and youtube fine.
Also, when I try and go to google's home page from my computer, it takes me to a chinese site with 789 at the beginning of the address bar.
I'm able to go to other saved websites with no problems.
I'm wondering if this is a virus or not?
Any sugguestions?
ThanksI'm pretty sure it's your network connection that it's causing that behavior. Possible causes might be:
- from your ISP:
- routing problems;
- proxy servers;
- dns issues;
- on your home network:
- your router(s) might have a messed up config, caused by any of the previous reasons
I don't think that it is the setup on any of your devices, since it would be too much of a coincidence to have 3 devices with the same setup mistakes (unless you previously had to done that in order to work with a previous ISP/Internet connection). Besides, as you stated, they work fine on 3G.
A good test you can perform, would be to check with Network Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Network Utility.app) and check for Lookup (DNS) and Traceroute tests. Check Lookup and Traceroute info for www.youtube.com and www.google.com, something like this (these results are ofc from my connection, yours will be slightly different):

One more thing: you mentioned using the devices through Wi-fi and 3G, but what about ethernet cable? same thing? Because it can be a wi-fi performace issue, although that would not explain why you are being redirected to a chinese server. -

To make an exact "clone" of the i7 hard drive on the MBP hard drive you could:
use Target mode to mount the MBP on the i7 (as if it were an external drive) OS X Mavericks: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
use CarbonCopyCloner to make a clone of the i7 on the MBP drive. Mac Backup Software - Carbon Copy Cloner
It would be easier, however, to just set up file sharing between the two computers, and then they would just have access to each other's files. OS X Mavericks: Share your files
An even better option is to use some cloud based option for sharing the files, like iCloud Apple - iCloud - Your content. On all your devices. or Dropbox. Dropbox Then you could open a file on either Mac, and work on it, and it would sync with the other Mac automatically. You could make changes on a file on one Mac, and then when you open the file on the other Mac the changes would be there. And you could also share files easily with others. -

ThanksThen some things may be hidden, or perhaps you did not use the same Apple_ID in the store as you used on your computer. Or maybe Apple is slow about updating your App Store Account.

Ok go to "Finder" preferences and make sure the "Hard disk" box is checked.
That will make your boot disk show up in the upper right corner. You can tell it's a boot disk because all the files will look like this instead of just being blank files. -

It is safe to say that i need help..................
let me start at the beginning.
I have 1 2008 imac. always a pleasure never been a problem. Attached to it i have an iomega 500gb ext drive. also been ok.
until now!!
The HDD would not mount. Disk utility suggested that it was ok so i tested the imac HD. I got error code 4MOT/2/40000004: HDD- 1502. This doesnt worry me at the moment.
I attached iomega to my Mac book pro and again it would not mount. The disk utility did tell me that the iomega needed repair. it advised that i should wipe it and restore.
So I used the MB Pro disk utility to create a DMG. and saved it to the desk top. I then erased the iomega. did a repair and it all seemed ok. So then i try to do a restore.
After a very long time it said internal error with the dmg. using disk utility i did a convert dmg (compressed) and saved it to the iomega. middle of the night job!!
got up this morning and indeed it had sent the DMG to the iomega. But i could not open it. The iomega itself seemed dandy asking me if i wanted to use it as a time machine etc and it mounted ok and i saved a small jpeg to the iomega as well. I then thought that maybe when i did the convert as a compressed file i made a mistake. i'm guessing it should be a read and write so i started all over again.......... wiped iomega (which was quite quick) then tried the convert tool again.....it trys for a while then says there is not enough disk space...........I'm not sure which disk it is refering to.??
I have purchased a 1tb hard drive today incase the iomega is some how full up.
So really my question to the world is .........Help?well no reply from the community. sniff- do i stink!? - probably a little bit. If i have lost all that data then I'm gonna really really pong.
Any ways i have purchased a 1tb usb HDD and have managed to duplicate the dmg file onto it. however still unable to mount the **** thing. so now i have ordered disk warrior which will be in my possession tomorrow.
