I use on a daily basis Lightroom 5,7 (get started withe version 3) and bought today a Sony Alpha 7 Mk2 but it seems impossible to develop .arw photos with that software. Is there a possibility to overcome this very bad surprise without leaving Lightroom?

ManyThanks to you, Nick and Rilk. You are right with the correct solution wich i hoped. What is really rare is that my version 5.7 (I thought it was the most recent one) didn't update to 5.7.1.
With the 5.7.1 version I tested the development of two test photos in arw format and it works very well. I'm starting in the FF world after years working with DX format.(Nikon D7000 and other Nikons before)
The 2 test photos i took where taken with a FE 4 70-200 G OSS (SEL70200G) objective in a room under artificial light and without any flashlight. Let me say the worst conditions...
Well, the result is astonishing not so bad at all after correction of the white balance. It is promising in better conditions outside;
Other objectives are currently ordered : Sony Zeiss Vario Tessar T FE 16-35 mm F/4 ZA OSS and Sony Zeiss FE 55 mm F/1,8.
All what i need for nice shots in the future.

The only way to do what you want is to log into your wife's iTunes Store account on your iPad. Doing this will lock you out of your account for 90 days.

Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
With the back up? Nothing unless things get worse after the fix. If they do, restore from the back up.

If you just had the system repaired for water damage what did they replace? If it was the Logic board then all parts should work and if they don't, like the sound, then they didn't fix it correctly and you should take it back to them for a proper fix.

HP Backup backs up many folders that are useless, most of your personal files should be in a folder with your old user name in the "Users" folder. This Backup app is also known to be a pain.
As for why you got the error, which sounds like all files were not extracted, that could be a faulty DVD, something caused a bad write to DVD,etc.
If you don't see a 'Users' folder, I would probably start by deleting the folder created on Desktop and make a new one either on desktop or in My Documents. Next copy files from each DVD to that new folder. From the folder try running the .EXE file again to see if any better results.
One other suggestion-go into Control Panel, Folder Options and check to be sure 'Hidden files' are shown.
If all else fails, install 7Zip and try it to extract the .WIM files.

To select consecutive images click and drag the cursor over multiple thumbnails to select all at once.
To select multiple images that are randomly located hold down the Command(⌘) key and click on those images you want to select.
Or to select consecutive images from a list of images that are together hold down the Shift key and and click on the first photo you want to select and the on the last photo you want in the list.

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".

is your movie in your backup folder a Quicktime movie? Then probably only have the Quicktime wrapper in your backup folder, but not the referenced media in the file fork of the movie. If you see the full quality movie in iPhoto in QuickTime player, don't drag it from the browser to the Desktop, but use "File > Reveal in Finder > Original File" to show the movie in your iPhoto Library. Select the Movie when it is revealed and ctrl-click it to open it in Quicktime Player.
Export it from Quicktime Player with "Export to" and share it to iTunes. This way it will be converted to a .mp4 movie that embeds the missing resources.
You can drag the converted movie from iTunes to the Desktop or share it using to Media Browser to other applications.

Yes, certainly, but if you're in the US I would just download the trial and use that for now, since there will be plenty of deals on the full version come the start of the holiday shopping season, especially at places like amazon and big box stores. Usually for much less than adobe's upgrade price.

This indicates that there is a problem in the iPhoto database - a possible solution to try is Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library
