I used to have a free att email account but...

I used to have a personal email address @att.com and then (years ago) stopped being free, and became a paid service. Now, after several increases - it's now over $25 a month for an email that only a few friends use to contact me. How do I get the cost of this account down??? I do not need any bells and whistles or a lot of space - I just want my account to be the absolute most basic, cheapest you have.

You're paying for an email account? What Internet service do you have?

  • I have purchased a GANDI email account but do not see it in the panel to the left as described in the tutorial.

I followed the instructions on creating a new account and purchased an email account from GANDI. I received my account creation email and followed the link to activate the account. That part when as expected. The TB instructions say that the GANDI account will appear in the left panel when I log into TB.
The new account is not there. How do I correct this? I am not a techie, to it is probably something that I am doing wrong. I am not ashamed to admit it. :(
    Thanks for your help.

I have been trying to enter the GANDI account the same way that I did the gmail account. In the first window I enter my name, my Gandi email address and password. when i hit enter, it open up the next window and tells me that the configuration is found in the Mozilla isp database. I hit done and it gives me a message that says configuration could not be varified. Is my username or password wrong? the answer to that question is not. I have now entered this information about 12 times and have done it very slowly to preclude any errors. I am at a loss. :(

  • Can someone access my email through iCloud if they used to have access to my email?

Can someone access my email through iCloud if they used to have access to my email?

Your question is not clear. If it is a Yahoo email account, then where does iCloud come into the picture? Or do you mean you are using the yahoo.com email address as your Apple ID? These are entirely different things. The Yahoo email account is not in any way related to the Apple ID that is using that email address as the Apple ID.

I have deleted all emails from my ICloud email account but my manage storage still shows that the mail is using 9.7GB.  Why isn't the number decreasing if all emails have been deleted?

It might be caused by storage "buffering".  If so, the space will adjust automatically when another iCloud feature uses the space previously allocated to your deleted email.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4873.

a single iTunes can be authorized for up to five iTunes store accounts (Apple IDs). a library thusly set up will sync content purchased with any of the five Apple IDs to any device.

  • Changing my apple ID and getting a new free apple email account

I have an apple ID which was set up using a btinternet account containing my married name.  My marriage has broken down and for a number of reasons I wish to distance myself totally from my former partner, and this includes email addresses.
This would have been relatively easy to do by setting up additional btinternet email address had the account not been in his name (even though payment went from a joint account!):  only he can create additional email addresses in that account so I am snookered until I reach the end of the contract in May and can start one in my name.
I thought I had a solution, i.e. to create a free iCloud email account in my new name and auto-forward all emails from the btinternet accounts until I can re-educate all my contacts, and then close them and the contract down and move to a new provider who is a little more customer friendly!
However, I cannot find out how to create a free iCloud email account:  it seems that the Apple ID has to be an email address which is NOT an apple domain.  Do I really have to set up a free email account with someone like live or gmail in order to change my Apple ID?  I really don't want a messy solution with permanent links / forwards etc between different email accounts.  I need to end up with a single account to & from which personal emails can be sent, and to which I can have forwarded emails from my business domain account.
Any ideas:  preferably in plain English as I am not a techy!  Simple instructions like go to xxxxxxx, hit yyyyyyy, then click zzzzzzz etc work for me!
    Thanks in advance

Thanks to both of you. I have to say that I am no clearer!  My appleID was set up for me using my married surname when I purchased the mac. I have  @me.com &  @icloud.com addresses as well which seemed to happen automatically when the apple id was registered, also using the same surname - effectively the basic apple ID used [email protected] with the yyy being my married surname, and the me.com and iCloud.com addresses were formed with [email protected].
OT:  if I need to create a new Apple ID how do I do it?  it seems to ask for an email address which is not an Apple domain already but the only ones I have are my old [email protected] which I am trying to get rid of!
So, do I have to get an email address from someone like gmail or whatever and then use that to set up a new Apple ID?  If so that seems a bit daft!  And if i do that, you're saying that I lose all the Apps purchased under the old one (so my mac compatible 'office suite' etc?) - but there's no way of changing my existing Apple ID to link to a different email address? No there is no way of changing your existing @me.com or @mac.com email address. You can try contacting Apple support to see if they can help, but if the email address is [email protected], or [email protected], not sure how it is uniquely your Apple ID (as opposed to he who shall not be named's Apple ID).
So, yes - you would need an email address from someone like gmail.
To set it up you would go to: Apple - My Apple ID
To set up iCloud on that Apple ID you would follow the intstuctions in: Creating an iCloud account: Frequently Asked Questions - Apple Support
As far as the purchases go, they will be tied to the Apple ID that they were purchased with. If that Apple ID is an Apple domain ID, then you would need continued access to that Apple ID/email address and its associated password in order to continue to update  or to re-download those purchases.
Only Apple IDs that are email addresses other than an Apple domain can be changed. For someone with an @gmail.com address as the Apple ID, the owner can go in at any time and change that email address to something else.
However, Apple domain email address cannot be changed on the Apple ID they are associated with.
I'm confused and irritated!  It's bad enough having to go through the mill trying to change names with banks, bills etc without this as well!

  • Free POP email accounts

Hi thanks for taking the time to read this, yesterday while setting up a friends new iMac I discovered that his email address required an additional fee to use via .Mail, Can anybody suggest a good reliable free POP email account so he can start using .Mail usually I would have set up a tiscali mail acc but even they now charge £4 a month for mail.
    Many thanks
    Gareth

    Hi Gareth:
I do not know. I have AOL for perhaps 12+ years. A couple of years ago they dropped the monthly charge if you do not use their ISP functionality.
Contact them if you are interested.

You didn't specify whether you are using the "official" Yahoo mail app, or some other email application like K-9.  But either of those allow for the specification of multiple email accounts, and you don't even really need to sign in/out.  Once you set up the accounts within the app, just select the email account that you want to view.  It might be a little more problematic if you want to prevent each other from being able to see the other's email, however.

  • No longer use this email account but how do you backup the email that is...

No longer use this email account but how do you backup the email that is in the "example" folder, So that I can delete the account on my mail app?

Not sure what you mean. Deleting a POP account only deletes the messages stored in the account’s mailboxes, not any messages stored in custom “On My Mac” mailboxes, if that’s what you mean. It’s not that Mail goes after your mail trying to delete as much as it can. It’s just that if a mail account is deleted, then its mailboxes cannot exist anymore...
That said, instead of deleting the account right away, you can just disable it (i.e. turn OFF Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Enable this account), leave it that way for some time, and delete it only after making sure you didn’t miss anything while the account was disabled.
BTW, if you back up your data, and the ~/Library/Mail folder in particular, you won’t have to worry about accidentally losing anything as a result of doing something like that...
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • I have the computer with my itunes library on it but no longer have access to the email account the library was set up with. How can I transfer the library to a new appleid/email?

I have the computer that holds my itunes library. However, I no longer have access to the email account (and therefore apple account) it was set up with so can't sync/update etc. How can I transfer the library to my new apple id? Any help gratefully received as searched the internet but can't find the answer!
Have ipod touch 4th gen, ipod touch 5th gen and ipod nano 7th gen all to sync to library.

    Hi Stillme,
You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another. You need to go into the old Apple ID and change it to the new email address instead of using a new Apple ID altogether.
    Apple - My Apple ID
If you can't remember the password to the old ID, then click on Reset your Password, and answer the Security Questions. If you can't remember the Security Questions, contact iTunes Support and have them reset:
    APPLE ID SECURITY CONTACT NUMBERS
Once you get into your old account, Edit the Apple ID to your new email address. Before you will be able to do that you are going to have to change the email address on the new Apple ID to something else.

  • When I open my free aol email account, I keep getting redirected to a new open tab ad for Verizon Fios. Is there a way to block this in Firefox?

I tried SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes but they didn't solve the problem. AOL email is the only place I'm having this problem and it's constantly happening while I have that email open. It will open up the same new tab time after time. Screen shot jpg will not upload but it shows 3 tabs for "FiOS Custom TV" with the following address - http://campaign.verizon.com/customizetv/?CMP=BAC-CON_2015-Q2_MM-ACQ-MZ2ACQQuizP3a_0576
    Help?

I access my aol email through www.aol.com. When I got to my emails, another tab was automatically opening by itself and I was redirected to that newly opened tab with the page that had the Verizon Fios promotion/ad. This happened automatically and repetitively while I was trying to check my emails. (Note the multiple Verizon tabs in the screenshot attached to this inquiry)
This happened over the last 2 days while in my free aol email account. I did notice a Verizon ad at the top of my email inbox while this was happening. I never did click on or otherwise access the Verizon ad but was constantly redirected to the new page/tab while viewing my emails. I went to my aol email just now to see if this was still occurring; there is a different ad in place of the Verizon ad and I am no longer being automatically redirected to another tab/page. Don't know why it was happening when the Verizon ad was there but it's not happening now since the Verizon ad has been replaced with another ad from a different company.
    Any thoughts on this?
    thank you
