I've just migrated "my music" from a PC to the iMac using the migration assistant put i can't find my files on the mac?
i've just migrated "my music" from a windows pc to the imac using the migration utility. it said the job had completed after 3 hours but i can't see a folder or file anywhere and my music isn't in itunes. any ideas?
Migration Assistant creates a new user with the transferred files. Go to > Log Out and log in the new user

You should find a new account on the Mac. Logout of the current account and log into the new account.

I am trying to find at least the trial version so that I can enter the serial number that I have on the back of the case and activate the full version so I can get some work I need to get done finished. Forget your existing disc and serial number. They won't work.
Download the new non-activation version of CS2 (applies to CS owners as well) from

Install then enter the new serial number provided at that link. -
I cant access any of the content that was in my music library that was set up on my old destroyed laptop. so Home Share cant be used. Is there a way to pull all of the music content, not just iTune purchased music, from my 4th Gen Nano back into my new iTunes set up on my new home compter?
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
The music sync is one - way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases. -
Hi, I migrated from PC to Mac, but I can't find some files I had in the PC, this files were invisible because I had them as hidden but just before migrating I switched off the "hidden" option, ¿Does this files migrated as hidden files or they didn't migrated?
If the filename starts with a dot (.thisfile), then it will be hidden on the Mac.
You can use a 3rd party App, such as EasyFind to search for the file on your Mac, and then re-name (remove the dot) -

I just exported some music from Amazon to iTunes but now I can't find my original iTunes music. How can I find them?
I did this by going into the folder where the Amazon MP3's were and copied the link into iTunes under the add file link in the menu. This music was purchased before I had an iTunes account so I wasn't aware that they could've been automatically exported. I still have the iTunes MP3s on my iPhone. Could I sync them over or something to that extent because I can't find the files at all even when doing a system search.

You can have iTunes reference the content where ever it is on your HDD without copying the content to the iTunes library, thus using twice the space.
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.

Additionally if you want the content to then ALSO be located in your iTunes Library folder so everything is all kept together nice and tidy, use this:
Consolidate your files in the iTunes folder
Depending on how you imported items into iTunes, some items in your library might be stored in different locations (in another folder or on another hard disk, for example).
You can consolidate all the files in your library in the iTunes folder—for example, to make it easier to move your library to a new computer.
Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Select “Consolidate files.”Files remain in their original locations, and copies are placed in the iTunes folder.
To create folders (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audiobooks, and so on) inside your iTunes folder, and place all your imported media files in the appropriate folders, select “Reorganize files in the folder ‘iTunes Media.’”

I just recently had to restore my computer to factory settings and when I redownloaded iTunes and tried to transfer my music from my ipod but it said that I had to authorize it, I did then it sais that the computer is authorized but that it was unable to transfer the music. This happens every time except with my ipad where it tells me it can transfer over my apps. What should I do?

Get the Apple USB Superdrive. It is available on the Apple store page of the Apple web site. Just look under storage on the left hand column under accessories for the Mac. $79. I have one since I have a lot of DVD's and CD' s. I burn DVD's made from movies created with iMovie. Works fine. You may be able to find one cheaper at Other World Computing.
BTW, you can expect that future computers will not have optical disk drives. This is definitely true for Apple and I suspect other mfgrs will also as we move more into streaming video and downloading of apps rather than selling CD/DVD versions.

How do I import music from my iPhone to my iMac?
Recently my hard drive on my iMac crashed and I lost all my music that I had on iTunes. I have a new copy of iTunes on my iMac and still have all of my songs on my iPhone. I just need to know how to import the songs from my iPhone to my iMac using iTunes. The first time I hooked my iPhone to my iMac, iTunes came up and asked if I wanted to sync my iPhone to my iMac. When I did that, my iPhone imported all my songs from my iMac. I want to know how to do the reverse. I'm concerned that if I hook my iPhone to my iMac, it might end up erasing all of my songs on my iPhone. I just need to know how to avoid doing that, thank you.
Because of ownership issues, songs are intended to go from the Mac to the iPhone, and not the other way. When your hard drive crashes, the expectation is you will restore from your backup, not your iPhone.
Having said that, the iPhone can send music you purchased from the iTunes Store back to the Mac. The way to do that is plug your iPhone into iTunes and choose File > Device > Transfer Purchases from iTunes' menu. -
I want to bring over music from my iTunes library on iMac to an ipod touch with another apple id. please help. Is this possible. In former versions of itunes this was posible. I can't find the solution is iTunes 11
Perhaps those apps require a newer version of iOS than is compatible with your iPod.

No, you can stop using the account, but you cannot delete it.

I want to play music from my playlist when I am using slideshow of my pictures in Ipad, but I can only choose ONE SINGLE song, and it continuously repeates itself. Is there a way to play the complete playlist while showing my pictures?
You can start the playlist playing in the iPod app and then switch into the Photos app and start your (non-music) slideshow - as you've found out you can currently only select a single track in the Photos app. Whether that will change in iOS 5 I don't know, but you could try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

I just got the new itunes and I can open itunes and see my music but whenI try and go to the itunes store it just loads to a white page. I try and refresh and go to the home page and nothing happens. I can sign into my account and the tabs for the itunes store pop up like they normally would when browsing the itunes store but when I click on one of them, it is a blank page. Is there a setting I need to change? Does it just take an extremely long time to load? Please help!!
