I've just upgraded to Lion, now I want to use the 'spaces' utility. What happened to it?

I've just upgraded to Lion and now I want to use the 'space's utility.  Seems to have disappeared.  How do I get that back?

hi just upgraded to lion, now i cant use "word" help please

If it's Word 2004 or earlier, it's for real. That is a PPC app and it is no longer supported in Lion. You need an Intel version of Office. You and a lot of others who didn't know are out in the cold.

  • Just upgraded Yosemite and now I can't find the calculator?  Where can i find it?

Just upgraded Yosemite and now I can't find the calculator?  Where can I find it?

The icon for the calculator is especially poor, among the many poorly legible icons developed for Yosemite.
It's a gray box with an orange stripe on the right side.

Gestures is not working like it did before. The side to side, forward back swipe, is very picky. Sometimes it takes four or five tries before it works. And yes I know how to do it. I have had a magic trackpad for about one year. And was greatly pleased by how it worked, BEFORE Mavericks. It has has indeed changed.

    Well, what is your problem?
If you are entering your serial number and being told you have used up your activations, you will need to contact Adobe to have your activation count reset
This is an open forum, not Adobe support... you need Adobe staff to help

  • Just upgraded to lion - now my photos are just exclaimation points

    This is depressing...
I upgraded to lion yesterday and now I find that I cannot see my photos.  If I look at them as events they appear to be there.  If I attempt to view them full (double click on the image in the event) I get a exclaimation point in place of the photo.  If I attempt to view them fullscreen (slideshow display) I see a black panel.
Not at all the behavior I expected from the latest and greatest.
    WHAT GIVES HERE?
    Rick

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Best option: Just restore from your back up. You made one before upgrading, right?
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • I just "upgraded" to Lion - now my version of Microsoft Professional is apparently not supported. Is there a fix?

I just installed Lion on my iMac, tried to open an Office Document and received a message " You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." My version of Office Professional is not that old - is there a fix for this? The $29 upgrade to Lion is not worth having to replace my software.

Your version of Office dates back to 2004 before there were Intel Macs. Lion does not support PPC-only applications such as Office 2004 so you need to upgrade it to Office 2011 which is compatible with Lion.
You will have this same issue with any other older PPC-only applications, so they, too, will need to be updated.

  • Upgraded to Lion, now keychain isn't behaving the same.

I used to start logging into a site, gmail or facebook for instance, then keychain would interrupt and ask for my keychain password and fill in the rest once I entered the keychain password. Now it doesn't even pop up to ask for keychain access. What happened and how do I fix this?

Last Friday I bought my first macbook pro; Lion was already installed. This of course means I had no previous keychain file to migrate and no initial entries in the existing keychain file. A few days after using mail, the keychain message would appear asking to enter password. If I also had Safari open, entering the keychain password and clicking OK resulted in Mail not responding no matter what was done (also the Keychain password box remained on screen). Attempting to force quit from the Apple menu was not possible as it was also froze. In both instances I had to shutdown the Mac by holding the power on/off down button down until it shut off the laptop (attempteing to restart did not work because it kept telling it could not restart because Mail needed to be exited).
After the restart completed, I reset my keychain file (no content of concern there), opened mail, entered the passwords, and so far (fingers crossed) it seems fine.
Apple: in my case nothing I did caused this problem. This is clearly a bug to me. Googling this problem shows users with keychain problems dating back many, many years. Certainly countless users have had serveral types of problems with the keychain. Please investigate and correct these problems. Thank-you

  • Just upgraded to Lion now iMac runs super slow.

Things were running just fine now everything from the internet to iPhoto is running super slow.  It hangs for about 10 seconds then moves on.  Any thoughts on what I can check to clean up performance?
    Thanks,
    Andy

You should look at the Activity Monitor (located in /Applications/Utilities) to see what applications and processes are using up your Mac's resources.
    Best of luck.

  • I just upgraded to Lion, I would like to backup the 3.8GB update file for future reference.  Can I and  where is it located?

I downloaded the Lion upgrade from Snow Leopard, and now would like to backup that large file in case my disk ever crashes and I have to reload.  I don't want to have to re-purchase the upgrade again if I re-install from Leopard and then want to upgrade again.  Where is that large upgrade file and can I back it up?

As it is in your App Store "Purchases", you can d/l at no cost on any Mac you own, and can even re-d/l and re-install at no cost anytime.

  • I already upgrade to lion. Now I want to reformat it using recovery hd.There,I use disk utility to erase disk as usually done. Then,I click install mac osxlion, after validation done,it appear dwnld, but stuck..is that because i erase disk?wht shld i do?

plss, now my mbp running no os, help me is the problem is because i erase disk? what i should do right now?

Wow, thanks.  It did the trick.  So now I am confused, do you think I still need to take in my Mac to see if there are some problems with the hard drive, or do you think I'm in the clear.  I was going to get a new hard drive installed, because I thought that was the issue seeing as I couldn't access it during safe mode.

  • I was using Mavericks Version for iPhoto 9.5.1 now i want to use the same library into my Mountain Lion version of iPhoto 9.4.3. how it;s possible?

i just re installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on my Mac. i was using Maverics 10.9.1 before now my question is my iPhoto library is unable to open on Mountain Lion version of iPhoto because i copy that library from Maverics version of iPhoto 9.5. now i am able to open iPhoto 9.5 library to iPhoto 9.4.1

After you download the upgrader, you will need to go to your Applications folder and find the Utilities folder.
In there will be the iPhoto Library Upgrader (version 1.1). Open the application and follow the instructions. Should get you going.
