I want to force a user to use a particular number series

Hi,
I have setup my journal numbers such that under document numbering setup => Journal enteries I have the following document numbers
Name        Start No    Next No
Primary             1
Transact        400001 400016
Jnls               600001
The default is setup to Transact, so all system journals are posted against this number series (so all transactions effectively). I want one of my users to be able to input journals but they must use the Jnls number series. Unfortunately they are not responsible enough to always check the top left corner of the journal entry screen to make sure they are posting into the correct series.
How can restrict them so that they can only post into this series? (Obviously they need to be able to continuing posting AP/AR invoices which will ultimately be posted against the transact series).

Please check in Test if it can help :
Create two Journal Entry series and when you try to SET DEFAULT the series by clicking on Set Default, then you can assign it to specific user or to all the users.
Check if this is what you are looking for.

I am looking for a way which can provide me information regarding when did a user last used a particular Responsibility ( eg CIC User,CRM Administrator etc).
For eg , If I last used CIC User responsibility last on 30th March 2015, then is there anyway I could fetch this information ?
Any help with backend query or front end navigation would be much appreciated.

I'm sorry to disagree, but your comparison is not quite equal. Consider email...no other platforms handle email the way BBs do. BBs prior to the Z10 do not have a full on-device email client...rather, they use the BIS infrastructure that is hosted by the carriers and RIM to accomplish true PUSH email from the end user perspective. This involves additional infrastructure dedicated solely to BB users, not usable by any other customers of that carrier. Along with the other BB proprietary services (which also require dedicated infrastructure), this results in a set of infrastructure that is solely used by BB customers...hence, added cost for the BIS plan so as to enable those services.
Many end users indeed have a full choice...newer BBs can function with a generic data plan, but naturally none of the BB-proprietary services will work. But, some carriers will not allow a BB onto their network without a BIS plan...but that is the decision of the carrier, not BlackBerry.
The future is brighter...reports are that BlackBerry10 devices (e.g., the Z10) will not require a BIS plan and will have all BB proprietary services as part of a generic data plan from the carriers.

Force Cover Flow to use a particular artwork for a tv show?

I had a mix up with Cover Flow before but that turned out to just be me getting confused with the way it displayed artwork for various series of a tv show. But now it really is taking the ****.
The scenario is this, I ripped a tv show from a DVD, several series of it. Put the first series in, gave every episode individual artwork, gave it a programme name, unique Episode ID that was incremental and also a episode number, also incremental.
This seemed to work fine. Every episode was in order, and Cover flow showed the first episode's artwork as the series artwork which is what I thought it was supposed to do.
I've been trying to put in the second series, did it exactly the same way. Except after quitting iTunes and restarting it, Cover Flow has idiotically decided to display the artwork for one of the other episodes, not the first one of which I have special artwork set for and for. There is no error in the Episode ID incremental numbers or the Series Number or the Episode Numbers, they're all correct, I've done my usual multi-check and delete then re-add. It just seems to like using the artwork for the eleventh episode as opposed to the first.
So how can I force Cover flow to display a particular artwork for a show? I probably wouldn't mind so much but its choices are reflected on my Apple TV and it just looks a bit crap on that.

Do not force tablet users to use the Desktop app before it is ready

Windows 10 is set to launch on July 29. Microsoft is discontinuing Modern Skype on July 7 thus creating the following inconveniences for Windows 8.1 tablet users connected with using the Desktop app: The Desktop app is blurry due to the DPI issuesThe app slides off the screen if the app is maximized and the user scrolls to the end of any listUsers need to use the desktop virtual keyboard which is subpar in numerous aspectsUsers who primarily use the Modern part of Windows 8.1 are forced to use the desktop environmentThere is no way to see any Skype notifications without going to the Desktop which, again, the tablet users don't do very often or don't do at all Every single one of the abovementioned issues isn't minor by any means. I can't see a really good way to do that, offhand. There's HttpSessionContext which would do it, but that's deprecated. Maybe a hack using HttpSessionBindingListener would do it (assuming single web server).
The really real way would be to write your own session manager and put in a getAllSessions() method (or find a ready session manager that has it.) If needed, think about multi-server clusters: if the web servers store sessions in a database, you'd need to get the list from there.
Or, in other words: "uh, are you really sure you want to go to all that trouble...?"
How about this: log user ids in the web server log at each page access. To get an approximate head count, take the last half hour of the log and "sed | sort | uniq | wc -l".

Possible to force default UnicastRemoteObject port to a particular number?

Hi! I realise that remote objects can individually choose their own port number by supplying it to the UnicastRemoteObject constructor, and I realise that the first UnicastRemoteObject without a specific port number gets allocated an unpredictable "anonymous" port number, which is then shared by all other objects that don't supply a specific port number.
What I would like to do is to specify, ahead of time, a default port number to be used when no specific port number is supplied (this would be instead of an anonymous port number being allocated) - any ideas on how to do that?
If we can't do that, then is it possible to find out programatically what anonymous port number was assigned to a particular object? (I know it can be logged, but I'm looking for something a little cleaner than turning on logging and then parsing the log!)
I'm trying to avoid requiring all remote objects to specify a known port number if at all possible.

P.S. I tried registering a dummy object on a known port before registering another object on the default port, but the second object gets a new anonymous port rather than sharing the known one.

Need server vm but don't want to force users to download JDK

Hi,
I need the numerical performance of the Windows 1.4.2 server vm for a 3D product I am working on, but don't want to force my users to download the entire JDK to get it. What is the official line regarding whether I can install just the server vm within their existing JRE? And can the vm be set within an applet?
This of course also poses issues such as version control, both dealing with what is currently installed and now also dealing with auto-updates.
I am currently paying a 325% performance penalty when using the client vm for numerical work!

JRE? No. Basically the entire JRE must be installed. There are certain parts that can be left out. You can check the readme for a list of those. I doubt it is going to save much.
I could be mistaken but I also think you will find that getting the VM to run in server mode will also require a configuration change in the browser - and you are not going to be able to do that via a normal applet. And it will impact all java from that point on as well.

Force a user event

Force a user to enter a value for a parameter.

Hi,
I have a report with a bunch of parameters and I want to force the user to enter values for two parameters amongst all of them. Like for example when the user doesn't select values for those 2 parameters he should get a dialog box saying "please enter value for xyz parameter" or something like that, which will force the user to enter a value for the parameters before he can see the report.
Please let me know if BI Publisher can do this.

We have two companies. Already we have restricted end user for using 961 & 962 mvt type in MB1C transaction code in one company code 1000. Now, we want to restrict end user for using 961 & 962 mvt type in MB1C transaction code in other company code 1200.
I have checked configuration using OMJJ transaction. But, it is there so there may be some different way of control.
Can any body help me?

Hi,
To restrict/block the movement type, the steps are:
1. use transaction code OMJJ.
2. Enter the movement type you want to block.[From 961 To 961](do for both961& 962)
3. Select the Second option in the List which appears in the left. (Allowed Transaction).
4. Remove the transaction codes (MB1C)from where you do not want to use that particular movement type& save.
For user specific to block the movement type, pl consult Basis Consultant.
