I want to give my ipod to my grandson and have him sync to his computer. What must I do to get him set up
I am giving my old ipod touch to my grandson. He will sync to his fathers computer under his log-in. The Apple account will be changed from my account to his fathers account. What do I do, what does his father do and what is the order of things.

Better yet, connect the iPod to your computer and restore it to factory settings, and then set it up as a new iPod. Give it to your grandson and then download and install iTunes on a computer that he has access to. When you install iTunes you can set him up with his own Apple ID, and you can set it up without using a credit card...

However it downloaded the songs into my son's playlist. How do I set up my own account so when I plug in my ipod it does the same as his plus allow me to download my own music.

Easiest is to just check the media yo want synced vice syncing the entire library. -
Grandson and friend just reset system several times and now neither can remember which email account or password was used to set up the ICloud account. I try to set up the account for him again and receive the message that no more accounts are available. I cannot reset because just like them, I don't know what they used. Surely, there must be some way to wipe out their settings and start fresh again?
Just connect to itunes and restore the ipod, when the restore is complete set it as a new ipod. Your problem must be resolved.

And you are NOT correct. I know this for a fact - I'm actually a Straight Talk "BYOP" user. You must install a configuration profile. Period. There's no way around it - iPhone defaults to the AT&T carrier bundle (based on the ICCID number of the SIM card, which identifies itself as an AT&T SIM), which includes settings that will not work and will lock out the menus that are necessary to make changes to allow data to work.
The only way to make modifications to the APN settings (that Straight Talk includes in their package) is a configuration profile. Doesn't matter if the phone is locked or unlocked. -

I lost my iPhone a few days ago and I put it on the lost mode. I don't want to give up looking for it. If a person stole it, is there a way for them to get into it or is it locked? I don't want to give up!!! But if there is a way that they could get in and take over my phone with a new number without me deactivating the iPhone and activating a different phone with my number.
lost mode don't depend of the sim card. If you take your Iphone on Lost mode... anybody can use it with the original card sim or with an other one.
Did you try to localise it ?
But hope that thief don't make a restore of the Iphone... Call your Mobile Operator to try to block the IMEI Number. -
i just got my ipod from my dad and he has all of his songs on there from his mac, and so now he gave the ipod to me and i want to put all of the songs on MY computer onto my new ipod and take all of the songs of that my dad originally had.
When you connect the iPod to your computer and go to the Music tab to select which music you want to sync, iTunes will pop up a dialogue box that if you sync your music it will replace the music that is already on the iPod.
Since that sounds like what you want to do, just click ok and then sync. -

You need to ask your carrier this question. Many of them are offering some decent trade in deals, but it varies from carrier to carrier.

I have an older Macbook pro with a dvi output and I want to watch movies on my tv. I have a dvi to hdmi cable but the only image I get on my TV is my desktop background. None of my movie players with appear on the TV screen. What am I doing wrong?

Open System Preferences > Displays > select the window for you external monitor > click on the Arrangement tab and check the box next to Mirror Displays. It may be slightly different in Lion, but the idea is the same. -
I am trying to restore an older iPod Touch, but do not have the passcode. I am getting an error message saying that I need to free up some space, but I cannot because I don't have the passcode and have never synced this device to my account. Help..
If it is asking for the screen-lock passcode then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

But I must point out that leaving the iPhoto Library on the external is worth considering. Your internal drive would be better off without having to carry the photos.
When you booted with the external connected and you were asked for the library, did you try navigating to the Library in on the external drive? -
I am installing itunes to a laptop and have not sync device to this lap. It is saying that it must first restore device. The problem is I have over 2000 pictures and don't want to lose them. Now my phone is in restore mode and I don't know what to do. I don't want to proceed and loose these very important photos of family. What do I do to get it out of restore mode? My phone will not allow me to do anything to it at this point. I have the itunes downloaded on the laptop now. When I push the button for the phone it just shows Itunes and plug. I can't even call or open phone up.
