I was editing today's photo..Thanksgiving..and iphoto shut down..and I cannot locate today's photos..help?
How can I recover today's photos? I was editing them about 91...i photo had already put photos in catergories..when suddenly..i photo just SHUT DOWN!
When I tried to reopen i photo..they had all disappeared. please help me!
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

IPhoto shuts down on viewing any Photoshop edited pic
This is enough to make me toss this computer. I'm trying to make my christmas album book and everytime I view a picture that was edited in Photoshop elements, the whole application shuts down. I've read the notice about this and tried the color space fix, revert to original etc. All pictures open up fine in preview. The most irritation comes from the statement in the notice that reads "this problem only affects power pc's". Can anyone help as time is running out.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First thing to try is deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that's in your Library/Prefrerences folder. If that doesn't work then the following is your best change.
Photo 6.0.5 has a problem with files edited in PSE if PSE didn't manage color profiles and embed one. So with that in mind try:
1 - download the "Embed sRGB Profile" Automator application from Toad's Cellar.
2 - unzip it and place in the Dock
3 - open you Pictures/iPhoto Library/Originals folder.
4 - open a subfolder, select all of the files inside and drag onto the Embed sRGB Profile application in the Dock.
5 - repeat for each subfolder in the Originals folder.
NOTE: check iPhoto's Advanced preference pane and see if the Embed Color Profile checkbox is selected. If it is not then you'll need to run the embed profile application on the files inside the Modified folder. If it is checked then the edited versions do have a profile embedded.
Now see if iPhoto will open the library.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

After an import of about 20 black & white photos to iPhoto I was editing one when iPhoto shut down. The "unexpected shut down" message was displayed. I clicked reopen, which it did. However, my last import was completely missing. Not only that, everything I had imported, adjusted and filed for the past 2 weeks was also missing. It has still saved all of the albums I created but all show "no photos".
When I try to re-import from my back-up, iPhoto says "can't import, photo is already in the library".
Can anyone help?What version of iPhoto?
Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have a desktop OS X 10.9.5. I once was able to make an album in iPhoto my screensaver, now I cannot. When I go to System Preferences >Screensaver and attempt to choose photos my IPhotos do not come up as they once did.

I took some photos and video at a friends wedding and I cloud backup was on, unfortunately my i phone reset itself and I cannot locate the photos on the i phone or i cloud backup, can you help. Thanks
If the photos and video are not on the phone or in a backup, then there isn't anything you can do.

Ok. so I updated to iOS 5. Downloaded it from iTunes and all. But in the middle of installing the iOS, i fell asleep. not knowing my computer was at a low battery charge my computer shut down. I did a DFU already and it worked but i'm not sure if it the os is complete. Is It??
Restore to factory settings. That will use the latest iOS and then restore from a backup.
Never, never, never attempt an update/upgrade on any portable computer device without plugging it into its AC charger. -
I have 2 Company ipads. They were set up by someone who has left the company. His email address was deleted when he left - so we cannot send a recovery email request. He connected both iPads to 'find my iphone' - and we cant locate his mobile! help!
If you have the original receipts, you can take them to an Apple Store and they may be able to remove the activation lock. A good lesson learned to have an employee clear a device when leaving.

IPhoto shut down / photos disappeared
After transferring 193 photos, while editing iPhoto shut down unexpectely deleting photos. Created Event disappeared! The camera was already erased as All photos were imported to the computer. Any chance of finding photos anywhere or the hard drive? I am Devasted! Does this issue occur often?
Probably the imported photos are still inside the iPhoto library, in the "Masters" folder.

Where have you been importing from? Your camera? A card reader? An iPhone?
This problem has occasionally been reported after the iPhoto 9.4.3 update. It seems to happen, when the card in a camera has become corrupted and needs reformatting in the camera.
Once you have retrieved your photos - hopefully - reformat the card or use a differentcard.
I nevert use the option to delete the photos in the camera, at the same time that I am importing. I wait till the photos have been imported and checked and backed up, before I delete them from the card. Using the camera to delete photos is better for the filesystem on the card than letting the computer do it.

I have the newer version of the macbook pro and I have read the directions on how to authorize your computer to let you download previous song purchases from icloud onto your laptop, but I cannot find where it says "authorize this computer" at all. I have looked for it everywhere and still cannot find it. Please help!

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.

Try booting up to Safe Boot and see if you still have this issue in "safe mode." This will help you determine if the issue is caused by 3rd part sofware, or some other type of OS corruption. -

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore. -
