I was using firefox a lot and then it did not want to open so I download it again and it still does not want to open?

I even check the other desktop we have in the house and it will open but my will not open

The usual cause of a problem such as you describe is this.
1. I download Adobe Acrobat Pro free trial.
2. I install the trial (or not).
3. But then I run Adobe Reader
4. I try to use Export PDF or Create PDF in Adobe Reader.
5. Nothing has changed, these still need a subscription.
If this is the case, make sure you use Acrobat. It does NOT change Reader, it's entirely separate from it.

It turns out that the problem had to do with network accounts, even though it was not clear at first. Redirecting the program to the local machine's cache with a network home redirector script fixed the issue. Thanks anyway.

I upgraded my original system from 10.4.11 to I believe 10.6. something about a year or so ago. I thought about re installing my safari app but when I go to open anything connected to safari my screen goes back to the desktop. I cant open any files that I have on my desktop that I set up through safari, like my banking program. Prior to changing system preference to safari default I was able to open those files and now I can't get into change it back. Can you guide me through this?

Try running the 10.6.8 combo update.

System Preferences or Safari Preferences?
Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

I am a medical transcriptionist. I was using Firefox 4 and without knowing that Firefox 5 does not support Google Toolbar I updated it. Searching in google is a integral part of my job and without the Toolbar I feel handicapped using Firefox 5. You can say that there is no need for toolbar in firefox 5 as the address bar doubles as toolbar, but I find it very difficult using it. I uninstalled Firefox 5 and try installing Firefox 4 version, but I am not able to. So, I have uninstalled Firefox 4 completely. So, pls advise if there is a way for me to get back my Firefox 4. Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

When you click the download link on [http://getfirefox.com GetFirefox.com], you should be asked if you wish to Run or Save the file. Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Right before the coping finished (started with a 40 hour copy time (I know it's estimated), and with about 30 minutes left, a window popped up and said there was a name conflict between the two HD. Then it wrapped things up in a minute or so. We had formatted the new EHD for Mac. What happened?

Oh my! Obviously, I don't know what I'm doing. But I do know that my goal was to do both---backup AND free some space. My iMAc is old (2006) and I upgraded it a year or so ago to Snow Leopard. I didn't think I had the capability of backing up without an external drive, but maybe I do since I upgraded. Do I?
But I bought this My Book mostly for freeing space because I like to make cards in Photoshop and I'm forever running out of space when I get too many layers (don't really know what I'm doing there, either).

Thank you so much for beng so prompt with your reply and patient with mine. I tried for so long to see the dialog box with the library listings. When I launched iPhoto, even with holding down the Option key, it kept immediately launching into the full screen. Finally, after an hour of doing it over and over again, it worked when I held the key down for 5 minutes. Then when I was typing my reply, I kept getting a message to "Request Time Out." Didn't know how to do that, so kept hitting the OK button and kept typing for another half minute. Finally, when ready to send, Safari couldn't do it. "Try again" exasperated me until I realized I would have to begin again and use Firefox. When I got there and ready to type, I got the message that my message had been retrienved and did I want to use it?!!

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.

Next step, if safe mode did not work.
First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously) that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.

If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

Your question may or may not have to do with Firefox. If you create your presentation using Web standards like HTML then you should have no problem opening/displaying it on any computer regardless of the operating system. If you are using software like PowerPoint, your recipient's Mac will need to have suitable software for viewing a PowerPoint presentation. (Note that you can get PowerPoint for Mac.) In this latter situation I would suggest that you may have more success saving your presentation as a PDF as this format is more portable across operating systems.
