I would like to change my Short Name. But no edit menu in the directory to choose root.

Like the title says, pretty self explanatory. I bought this MacBook from a friend of mine and her name is still on the Home Icon (short name). I get the idea of how to change it but once I get to the Directory Utility to enable the Root User, I find that there is NO edit menu. So now I'm somewhat at an impasse on how to do this so I've decided to come here for some help. Sorry if this has been asked a million times, I've gone through some other topics somewhat similar and nothing remotely came close to this issue. I find it odd that I don't have an Edit Menu in the DU. If there is a different way to this then please let me know, if not then please walk me through this. Thanks!

You have to choose – one settigf or another.
The thing is.your HD clips will look better in an SD project than your SD clips will in an HD project.
WIthout knowing much more about your project and the kind of content, it's really hard to be specific. But generally I'd let my project settings be guided by what fraction of my timeline will be made up of HD clips and how much SD clips. If it's 75% HD, I'd probably do an HD project…and so on,

you can download the mac os x recovery hd and run the setup to a flash drive using another mac computer running os x 10.7,(so that while installation the os x setup can varify your computer's serial no. and provide you the installation setup through internet)
or the time machine backup(if you have)
Now boot through the flash drive and follow the steps to install mac os x

If you mean your Community name here, i'm afraid you cannot. Or at least it would be a very rare event. I have heard of one change recently because the name concerned was an embarrassment, but as I said, it's very, very rare. I will draw the host's attention to your post.

Go to http://appleid.apple.com. Underneath where it says “Already have an Apple ID?," click Manage your Account. You will then need to sign in. If you forgot your Apple ID or password, click on the appropriate "Forgot..." link below either of these fields.
After you sign in, click on "Passwords and Security" on the left.
You will be asked to answer the security questions, but you should also notice a link below the second "Answer" field offering to send reset instructions to your rescue email address that you provided.
Check the Inbox of your rescue email address. The email should appear within a minute or two. If it does not, be sure to check Spam. If it is not there either, you can repeat the above process to resend. Once you get the email, following the link will take you to a page where you must sign in again. For starters, I have a late 2009 Macbook (white) and am running Mountain Lion (10.8.2). Anyway, I purchased this computer off of someone else and I would like to change what I assume is the home directory (little house logo) from "appleuser" to my name. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything online that is helpful to me. I saw one thing that talked about changing the root login or something like that, but I couldn't even find it when following the steps that were given.
Anyway, like I said I bought the computer off of someone else and seeing the "appleuser" drives me insane so I'd like to change it. Anybody know how?

If you are using one of Lightroom's "date-based" folder templates, then the folders are created in accordance with the image capture date, not the date that you happen to import it. If you specifically want to use the import date for your folder names then you probably don't want to use the Lightroom date template, and instead you'll need to setup your folder names manually.
