I would like to replace my home phone wiring

I suspect that there are some intermittent issues with my home wiring. The original wiring included the old round jack plugs and sockets, which was updated to the newr 'Plan 4' wiring system, sometime in the 1970s. I do think that there are some issues with BT but, I need to make sure that I am squeeky clean before involving them. I am quite confident about tackling the home wiring problem and would be up for taking out the 40 odd year old wiring and replacing it with a single properly wired extention, at the same time, remaining legal with BT.
What I propose to do, is to disconnect the house wiring from the master BT box and then just have one cable running about 5 or 6 metres to a second connector box. Pleas could anyone recommend the type of cable to use? I do have some of the old grey BT single strand 3 twisted pair but, I suspect the cable used these days is of a higher spec, with a tighter twist. I would greatly appreciate comment/advice. Best Wishes. Harry H.

The Current front plate is the split plate witb Openreach logo. this was installed some six years ago during a line fault investigation. Tim Smedly mentions a front plate with separate sockets for Phone and Broadband! I presume with this, each device still requires a filter unit. Are these front plates available in the local Maplin store or do you have to get them via BT?
Incidentally, whilst searching our garage for the Krone inserter, I came across a real of cable, made by Duratube & Wire Ltd.
The label says 4 wire (two pair) telephone cable, spec 1308. The pairs are enclosed in a round white sheath. as my mum used to say, "we are short of nothng that we have got" Once again, thank you for your very helpful reply. Harry H.

  • I would like to replace a keyboard in my Pavilion 15-p 199sa ENERGY STAR

Last February I bought my first laptop from Currys Pc world. Once at home I noticed that the touchpad was faulty: lifted up on the upper left corner. I should have brought it back on the following day, but shame on me, I did not. Now I do not mind to pay for a new keyboard, and replace the old one to get the problem sorted out. but I do not know where or how to get it. I tried to open the link: Hp Support, Replacement parts, but this web page is not available. I sent an email to hp support and i have been told: "Based on the information provided you have purchased your unit from the Dixon's Store Group (DSG). The DSG have an agreement with HP, where they support the standard 12 month warranty on your product.
Because of this agreement with the DSG, your product is out of warranty with HP, therefore please contact your point of purchase for any support you may require". Now I do not feel to bring the laptop to Currys, because I tried to fix the touchpad and I have scratched the keyboard a bit.
Therefore, my friends be aware that when you buy an HP laptop from Currys Pc World, your product won't have any Hp warranty.
I went to Merchant Square in London to Hp Total Care Centre: but the shop has disappeared.
I will try over the phone.
(Probably it would have been the case to buy from a laptob brand that is also the laptop manufactorer)

  • Can i use itunes to sync my iphone with another iphone. Both phones are iphone 4, I would like to recreate my old phone in my one. in other words; transfer my pictures, texts, contacts, notes ect onto my newer phone.

hi, I have 2 iPhone 4 and i would like to transfer all of my documents and data, contacts, apps ect ect from my old phone to my new iPhone 4.
Essentialy I would like to recreate my old phone on the new one. (older phone is scratched). I have a different phone number, and different i tunes account associated with each phone but I have no problem with changing the i tunes account on the new phone back to the account I had on the old one.
I have done back ups in the past of my old phone, using i tunes and I would like to apply the backed up information to my new phone. How would I do this?
Can I restore device A onto device B?  Also wondering what sort of information or files might not transfer?
    Thanks!

    Hi
Both screens seems to be designed for the Portg R200 thereofre I dont see any serious reasons why you should not use it.
    > Is it easy to replace?
Its not easy to replace if you have no experience! In such case I would recommend contacting an notebook technician.
    > And most importantly.... Can I get this cheaper anywhere else???
As you know the market makes prices just google for a better offer.
    Cheers dude

Do a media manage of the sequence converting the files to the appropriate HD format making the clips offline.  Then simply reconnect the offline clips to the HD clips.  There may be issues in the file names, but they can usually be worked out either with the naming options in media manager or renaming your hd files.  There are many utilities that allow you to batch rename files.

  • HT1338 I would like to burn a home movie from imovie. How may I do this?

I would like to burn a home movie from imovie. How may I do this? I have imported from a viedo camera  to imovie and cannot burn it to a blank dvd! ***?

    Buy iDVD.
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/idvd.html
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

  • My MACBOOK Pro turned out to be Snow Leopard, and later upgraded to LION. And update the EFI, I would like to replace the Snow Leopard, EFI can not boot, how do? How to use the Snow Leopard install disk to reduce EFI?

My MACBOOK Pro turned out to be Snow Leopard, and later upgraded toLION. And update the EFI, I would like to replace the Snow Leopard, EFIcan not boot, how do? How to use the Snow Leopard install disk to reduce EFI?

Do you mean some of your software does not work in Lion? Do you want to return to using Snow Leopard? If so, then do this:
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.
