I18n of Euskera (Basque)

We have a problem with the internationalization of Euskera (Basque) in Java. It could be possible to have two locales of Basque, eu_ES and eu_FR because in the north of Spain and in the south of France Euskera (Basque) is spoken. The problem is with the name that Java places, in our case, to eu_ES locale (we don't know if there is the same problem with the french locale) the name that Java shows is "vascuence (españa)". This is an old translation in spanish of the correct form "Euskera (Espainia)" in Basque, it should not be "vascuence (españa)" (this is the correct form of the locale es_ES but not for eu_ES); in english it's not shown "Inglés (Estados Unidos)" as it is in spanish but "English (United States)", the correct form in the en_US form.
Anyone knows if there is a solution to this?
Thank you very much

You could try to implement ICU which uses the CLDR data: http://www.unicode.org/cldr/data/charts/summary/eu.html

  • Passing parameter to the i18n text from xml view in fiori app

    Hi,
    Could somebody let me know how to pass parameter to get the i18n text inside xml view of a Fiori app.
    For e.g. inside my i18n properties file i have a entry like:
    PEC_ISSUE={0}issues of total{1}
    inside xml i use it like {i18n>PEC_ISSUE}
    but now how do i pass those 2 parameters to this ??
    i know in javascript it works with , (comma) but does not work in xml. Any help...
    Thanks,
    Ashish

    Hi Michele,
    I found it. Below is the example from my coding.
    <Text      text="{parts: [{path: 'i18n>PEC_to'}, {path: 'promoprocsteps>RetailPromotionSalesFromDate_E'},
                                                           {path:'promoprocsteps>RetailPromotionSalesToDate_E'}],
                                                           formatter: 'retail.promn.promotioncockpit.utils.Formatter.formatDatesString'}"  />
    So you have to create a formatter and pass all the strings to the formatter and then do it inside JS.
    In JS you do it in this way:
    i18n.getText(i18String, [newString, string2]);
    i hope this helps.

  • Got stuck with basic of I18N

    Hi ,
    I am using properties-files approach ie for each language
    one properties-file.
    BUT I am having this problem :
    I have ResourseBundle's base-name as "Message"
    and so 2 properties files:
    1.Message_en_US.properties
    YES=Yes
    NO=No
    2.Message_ja_JP.properties ( for Japanese)
    YES=
    NO=
    Now problem here is putting value for these keys in
    Message_ja_JP.properties
    Few queries:
    1.
    I tried to use one translator (English to Japanese)
    which gives me a String in Japanese and when i copy-paste this value to this file i get like "??" .
    Should I put this value to properties-file or I need to put
    Ascii-value of it ?
    2.
    as somebody was suggesting to encode file , then
    what will happen to KEY ?...probably i got things wrong,
    and i need to have a text-file which contains "Yes"-equivalent in Japanese....and after converting it to ascii
    we got to put in properties-file...Am I RIGHT ?
    I m bit confused...could anyone of you please tell me this in steps ?
    3. some straight sample code will help me a
    lot Please.

    thanx John and Joe for ur reply...
    I really appreciate your attention to even small details.
    Thanx a lot.
    I got native2ascii work .
    I have now one strange problem.I have 3 properties-file .
    Messages_en_US.properties:
    yesMessage=Yes
    noMessage=No
    Messages_fr_FR.properties:
    yesMessage=Oui
    noMessage=Non
    Messages_ja_JP.properties
    yesMessage=\u306f\u3044
    noMessage=\u5426
    It works fine for first two , but for japanese it gives an MissingResourceException .

  • I18n model doesn't work properly

    Evening, experts,
    I have a code that checks a response from a server and shows message box according to the information received. I have these messages in 2 languages (user selects a language during login). Here is example:
    if(sResponse == 'IDfail'){
        sap.m.MessageBox.alert
        ("{i18nResourceModel>idnotnine}",
            {icon: sap.m.MessageBox.Icon.ERROR,
            title: "{i18nResourceModel>error}"}
    Here is i18n model declaration (it is declared before I use the model, of course):
    var oResourceModel = new sap.ui.model.resource.ResourceModel
        ({bundleUrl: "i18n/i18n.properties", bundleLocale: "en"});
    sap.ui.getCore().setModel(oResourceModel, "i18nResourceModel");
    I have 2 .properties files: i18n.properties (english) and i18n_iw.properties (hebrew).
    The strange thing is that the title of the message box is displayed correctly, but instead of the message itself I see text: i18nResourceModel>idnotnine.
    It worked fine before and I can't figure out what happened.
    What may be causing this issue and how do I fix it?
    Thank you.

    In addition, if I put
    "{i18nResourceModel>idnotnine}"
    part instead of
    "{i18nResourceModel>error}"}
    so it looks like
    title: "{i18nResourceModel>idnotnine}"}
    I do see the the text of "idnotnine" from the .properties file in the title.

  • What is the best way to add i18n to an existing custom CMS system (build with C#)?

    I am currently responsible for an existing CMS, built a few years ago with C# .Net and a few clients are requesting to have their website
    in Spanish. The websites are pre-populated with pages from a library and currently the application has no support for i18n. What is the quickest way to allow the client to have his website in Spanish? And what is the best way to allow any language?
    I understand those are two different answers, but I want to plan for future and at the same time provide a quick solution to please the clients.

    I suggest that you move your post to the below asp.net forum for a better assistance on this, this forum is for C# code related issues:

  • KM not capable of i18n ?

    Hello,
    I try to set up some feature in Portal there a superuser may manage some html page for users. The html page is stored in Public Documents (multible versions in different languages) and users will see it through a URL - iView (using language specific URLs). Everything fine so far.
    Know i try to set up the superuser function using Navigation iView. My Superusers should use Online Editing to maintain the htm pages, and they should not be allowed to change the Name of the page, because this will break the Users iView for display. I managed to define a dedicated Explorer LayoutSet, that does only contain menu option "onlne editing".
    1. Problem: If a Superuser opens the html page in Online Editing, it is possible to change the name o f the page in advanced properties.
    2.Problem: It seems not to be possible to maintain i18n pages with HTML online editor, because it does not correctlly save any special characters  like: äöü at all.
    Any tip?
    tnx Johannes

    The answer is it is not.
    One have to develop a lost of custom proxies to get it i18n.

    When we are doing I18N for that Application. Go to Navigator Tab
    Here Select Particular Projects--à src-àPackages-àsap-àvijay
    To internationalize the Web Dynpro application, copy the automatically generated *.xlf files and save them under a new name in the same directory.
    The new name must meet the following convention:

    For example, if you are creating *.xlf files for German,

              </taglib>
         </jsp-config>

    Well, putting all that Java code into a JSP was a bad idea in the first place, just on general design principles. But you've done it in such a way that the result of compiling the JSP is malformed Java code. Frankly I would just throw it away and put the Java code into a servlet or some other Java class, where it belongs.
    But if you're really working in a place where nobody has learned anything since 2003, and you're forced to support that old junk, then I would point out that the error occurs before the place which generates this line:
    import java.util.*;You only need to look at two of the thousand lines of code you posted.

  • Can i18n ever be in-built in Java

    Does anyone see this happening in the standard Java library :
    String toPrint = "Easy access to Yahoo! services like Address Book and Calendar";
    System.out.println(toPrint);
    ==================================
    On a en_us PC it will print the following on the console :
    "Easy access to Yahoo! services like Address Book and Calendar"
    On a fr_FR PC it will print the following on the console :
    "Un accs direct votre carnet d'adresses"
    Coder will write the error message in English only, but based on the System's locale, java's System.out.println will magically translate it correctly to say french and print - will take away a hell of a lot of i18n worries while coding !!! - Just a thought.

    Yeah the idea is not very interesting as you said, but I was just thinking along the following lines :
    1. Some sort of basic framework could be developed within the JDK to allow you to hook in you custom Languate-to-Language translator libraries. The framework could be just a Factory which could get you the appropriate translator if it exists (otherwise use a default do-nothing translator), and use it for printing localised messages.
    2. Like Java is platform independent, so also, it could claim to be "Language independent"...
    3. It might save a lot of Development $$$ for product based companies who need to ship it to various countries across the globe.
    4. The initial crop of translators might be a little crude and not very capable, but it could evolve and ultimately become the "Babel Fish" of the galaxy ;-)

    Vivek.

  • How To Deal With Another Language (related to i18n)

    Please give guidance of writing Java code that searches for say, French language text. For example, I have a file that's a clipping of some news story from a French website. How to write a piece of Java code that opens the file and finds a given word in the file? Are there articles I can read? I need to see a sample of multibyte chatacter seraching with Java. Thanks in advance.

    You're probably going to want to look for a tutorial on internationalization. See the following from the Java tutorial: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/i18n/index.html
    If you're using Forte / Sun One it has an internationalization wizard that's pretty slick. You might want to check that out if you'll be doing a lot of multi-language stuff. I can't think of any other IDE that has this feature, but I could be wrong. I haven't checked out any other IDE for a while because I've been happily using Forte for about a year :)
