Question for you is why would you want the TE version when they are essentially the same but the TE (2300) version is slower than the T (2500)?
a friend sell this to me with price tag 900NIS* (228USD),
this is a USED cpu

  • MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming and msata speed issue...

    Hi,
So I'm running the MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming with a 128GB SanDisk msata. Now it all works perfectly; no BSOD or crashes, but what I have noticed is that sometimes when the PC boots and I look in Intel Rapid Storage Technology, the msata on port 5 is running at 3Gb/s not 6Gb/s: I verified the speed loss using AS SSD benchmark. Reboot and it's back to 6Gb/s and back to full speed.
Anyone else seen this or have an idea of a solution?
    Thanks

How often can you notice the problem? You mentioned AS SSD Benchmark has speed loss, what's the result of speed test then?
I notice it a couple of times a day minimum

  • Flashing of MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING failed and dual bios not helping, not sure why?

    Hi all
For the first time in 20 years Ive had a firmware flash fail it seems.
I have a MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING and updated the bios with the latest firmware via the "M-FLASH" utility within the systems bios.
All seemed to have gone well, it flashed to 100% rebooted and then just a blank screen and a sequence of keyboard light flashes.
After a minutes panic I thought not to worry, the motherboard has a dual bios.   So I powered down and switched the bios switch to bios B hoping it would assist and the problem is identical.
    Any tips anyone?

I just tried this along with removing power from the main board and it seems one of the two did it!   thanks

  • Slow shutdown Z87-GD65 Gaming

If I allow my Win64 system to go into sleep mode. Wake it up and then try to shutdown I find that it takes ages to shutdown once the black screen appears. It seems like it has shut down but the fans keep spinning for a good 20 seconds and eventually I will hear my speakers pop as the soundcard powers down. A reboot and then power down does not take anywhere as long. Regardless of what apps have been running or are running.
I also get random DPC latency spikes if I do not reboot after going to sleep or even just running on 'balanced' for a while. Setting power management completely off and rebooting resolves this.
Is this more likely to be a USB device causing the above issues?

  • MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming EIST is not working

Hi all, my EIST is not working properly, the CPU clock run between 3.7-3.9 all the time (VID 1.153 - 1.219)
    Here is my setup:
    Motherboard and CPU: MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming + 4770K
OS: Clean installed Win 7 SP1 with most updated driver from MSI site.
Bios version: 1.2 (All default settings)
Actually the EIST works before without installing driver ME and chipset driver from MSI site, any advices?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi and welcome,
      to DougQuaid tip.
Allso if you have OC your system, you need to set Ratio mode to Dynamic and voltage mode to Adaptive.
Like in this picture of my BIOS settings. I marked those with yellow.
Warning: After that you shouldent stress test your CPU anymore with Prime95, Occt, or so on programs. Because they could get the MB give too much power to CPU
I just tested those (ME and Chipset) files from MSI and still get my clock and voltage down normaly.
There seams to be new official relice of BIOS 1.3v there too, so you could try that. if yours cot some bug in it.
Also make sure on task manager that your pc isnt doing anything under. Like live Spybot/virus/... -Scans.
I hope these help Cheers, Mummy

  • MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming BIOS Update

Bought this setup quite a while ago, running a 4670k on the z87 gd65 gaming board and thought about trying a bit of OCing, probably just gonna try out the OC Genie for now, but i was wondering if it would be a good idea to do a BIOS update or is that not necessary? Im still running on bios 1.3 which from what i can see on the msi site is a quite old one.

Quote from: flobelix on 23-September-14, 01:02:53
No, 1.3 is too outdated. If wanting to go for latest generation vga get the latest vga (1.B):
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive (E7845IMS_1B0.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
         F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows:  http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip
Thanks Flobelix, running windows 7 but i guess the procedure is still the same, are the ME drivers the chipset drivers? i downloaded the chipset drivers for my OS from the msi site (intel_chipse_9_mb.zip) or is it the "Intel Management Engine Driver+Microsoft hotfix".

  • MSI Z87 GD65 GAMING Doesn't recognize crossfire. Help Pls.

Hello everyone, I've had several board msi brand, such as B3 P68 GD65, GD65 G3 Z68, Z68 GD80 G3, last week bought a Z87 GD65 gaming, but I can not activate the second video card, installed the  amd 13.9 drivers with just one card ,rebooted and installed the second does not recognize the second card. I tested amd drivers 13.10v2 and does not work, I tested with the older  amd drivers 13.4 official and does not recognize the second card.
Tested one by one each both graphical works fine.
I have the crossfire bridge connected.
I must change something in the bios? To recognize the second card? what ?
Never happened to me on msi boards such things and i haved always crossfire.

    Hi everybody,
I tested one at a time in the pci-e 2 and works.
And do the same on Pci-e nº1. works fine the 2 card.
"Several possibles. If testing a card by itself in the second slot does not work, then either there is a problem with an errant standoff or other item shorting underneath the mainboard. The other most common reason is CPU socket pin(s) bent or damaged or the CPU cooler mouinted incorrectly or unevenly torqued.
I don´t  believe it the pins because if you look at the GPU-Z recognizes the two cards.
And appears on device manager the to cards.
I am using SO w7 ultimate, and the board bios is the last version.
Is something else must be some setting in bios, and i don´t no...

  • Fans and Z87-GD65 new build question

Hi.  I am waiting on all my parts for a new build this week.  I've only done one build before and that was over 4 years ago (i5-750 / MSI P55-GD65).  My question is regarding fans and how to control them on the Z87-GD65 mobo.  My case comes with three 140 mm 3-pin fans and a 3 fan 3-speed manual fan controller.  I've never used a fan controller before and would prefer to use SpeedFan or the BIOS to adjust speed fans based on CPU/GPU temperatures.  Will I be able to set up automatic speed control in BIOS or SpeedFan for all 3 fans with this motherboard?  Or do I need PWM fans to do so?  What if I want to install 2 extra fans?  Any help would be appreciated!
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD 68.5 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
    Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Those connected to the fan controllers are controlled through their buttons (or whatever to adjust the speed). Those connected to motherboard, are connected through a software, such as Command Centre (which in my opinion is great for this).
Not sure how many connectors do you have on the motherboard, but I think there's x2 CPUFan and x3 SysFan. That means you can have x5 fans connected to them. But you can either purchase a Y splitter which will let you connect 2 fans into a single socket (I am using one Y splitter) or just get proper fan controller.

Start upping your voltage, my chip needs [email protected] and for stability at 4.4 it needs 1.38.
Those guys on YouTube definitely got a better chip
Once you get enough voltage to boot into windows without bsod start stability testing. Make sure to set volts to override

  • MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING DISABLED CORE RATIO LIMIT

i am using MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING board with intel core i7-4770K
it should allow me to adjust turbo ratio/core ratio limit in the bios @ cpu features menu. already update to V1.2 bios.
unfortunately that menu is set to read-only "Auto". it makes me looks like using 4770 NON-K CPU!

hahaha. no need to use exclamation mark, bro.
ok done. it is because i am confuse with some value with [Auto] and some with Auto without []
for the information, i only managed to get 44x for the 1-core ratio. if more than that, it will go to bluescreen when booting.
any idea how to solve that problem? like asus motherboard, it has PLL overvoltage to overcome ratio more than 45/46.
how about MSI? its my 1st time using MSI motherboard for the i7 family.

  • Will Z87 GD65 Gaming boot with 4790k in order to update BIOS?

    So, I have a Z87 GD65 Gaming motherboard.
I was planning on buying a 4770k cpu, but changed my mind to 4790k. The motherboards supports 4790k in the last release of BIOS.
Do i have to buy a supported CPU (or send to a local store) to update BIOS or can I boot directy with the 4790k and update?
    Thanks.

board needs to be at least at bios 1.9 to even post with a Haswell refresh cpu. While 4790K is officially supported with the later bios 1.A it should at least post with 1.9. Therefor a boar manufactured before 2014-02-24 will not work out of the box with a 4790K and a supported Haswell cpu to flash or update by a shop will be needed to use the cpu.

  • Will the Z87-GD65 GAMING + bios update support an i7 4790K

    Hi,
I was checking MSI official webpage for the Z87-GD65 GAMING, and seems the last bios 1.9 2/14/14 says,
    Quote
    Support Next Generation Processors.
But no direct info if it supports the i7 4970K, i been very happy with 4770K but my Blue Iris camera server is asking for quad core to increase the framrates, so i could upgrade my main pc and move the 4770K but before committing, would be good to know my motherboard will support the CPU.
    Thanks for your time,

General consensus is the 4790k is a Haswell 4770k rebranded with better TIM and higher clock rate. It should work right out of the box on Z87. Should know for sure around the 25th of this month at the CPU release and people start testing it.

  • OC Genie z87 gd65 gaming

Hi, I have a 4670k CPU and a z87 gd65 gaming mobo with the latest BIOS. I'm using the OC genie to get to 4.2 GHz with 1.23 V, and that works fine. I, clearly, lost the Si lottery. I tried a manual OC to 4.4 GHz but the OC was still unstable at even at 1.29 V, so I said screw it, and just used the OC genie. My problem is that now the CPU doesn't downclock when idle, so my idle temps are in the low to mid 30's. I'm using a Cooler Master Nepton 280L AIO, and I feel like my idle temps should be lower than that. I've never seen a single core go over 78 C when I ran Prime 95 with the CPU at 4.4 GHz. In gaming, they rarely get above 50 C. I mean, the idle temps make sense when one considers that the CPU is always running at 4200 MHz, but I can't figure out why it doesn't downclock. Is this just a feature of the OC genie in gear 2 (that it turns off the CPU power saving features), does the OC genie suspect that switching between power states will cause instability in my system (I have a hard time believing that it can even speculate about that), or is there just something I need to do to fix it? I've just been ignoring it for months, but it's really annoying me I figured I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

My G43 never throttle the clock below turbo settings unless load/power/current rules dictates it should be lowered, so at idle it's at 3.8GHz (or 4.2Ghz when overclocked) but power consumption as reported by HW Monitor Pro or Intel Extreme Tuning goes down and so are temps.
I don't know if this is the normal behavior for these CPUs, I'm new to the 4670k and G3, only put them together yesterday, so I'm still learning.
No OC genie can do what you can't do manually, definitely not as optimized as you can do it, so I I'd say forget about and go back manual.
My CPU is somewhat stable at 4.2GHz with only 1.155vcore set static (though it go up as high as 1.176v under heavy load), temps are as high as 73 with Linx (CNPS10X Performa), a bit lower with Prime95.
Are you overclocking the CPU or memory too? From my past experience (Core2/P4x), it's not all about vcore.
Post some details on your OC, voltages changed, what kind of instability you have, BSOD codes if any
