IBooks publishing process

Hi,
I just started the submission process to publish on iBooks.  I entered various details, such as:
Book title
Publisher name
US EIN (tax identification)
And then it took me to a screen that suggested my application would be reviewed.  At this stage, I haven't submitted the actual content.  I'm presuming that I've not missed anything, and that this initial stage exists for some reason.
Can anyone shed some light on how long this stage takes?
I have a UK publishing company, with ISBNs in place, and of course, a cracking book.
Thanks,
Venice A Fulton

Hello Patrick,
I can only assume that it's a random glitch, as three months is enough time for you to grow a tree and make a paper copy!  Could you start the entire process again, or is it preventing you somehow?
I would say that there's a possibility that the iBookstore only accepts some books, but regardless, some notification of this would be likely.  Perhaps this was sent, and ended up in a junk email folder.
As a side note, the Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing process is relatively easier, although, with low barriers to entry, comes less quality, and vice versa.
Hope this helps,
Venice A Fulton

Being new to iBook publishing I need to know if stats are available to determine how many times my iBook has been downloaded. Can anyone help please? I need to persuade someone that this really is worthwhile. Mr Ignorant.

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • IWeb keeps quitting during publishing process

I've been using iWeb with my MobileMe account for over 6 months now, there are always some occasional publishing problems, especially since I travelled to Australia where the internet connection doesn't seem to be too fast. But now I've hit a dead end and nothing seems to help any more.
Every time I try to publish my blog it gets stuck on the creating page: "Archive" bar and then quits. This has been going on for days and I have no idea where to even start looking for possible problems with my Archive page... Publishing to a local folder doesn't seem to give any better results either. At first I thought it had something to do with enabling comments, but I've tried either way and the result is still the aggravating "iWeb quit unexpectedly" message.
I have another website built in iWeb that I've only recently started publishing through MobileMe. This one goes through all the 'creating page' process without problems, but it always seems to get stuck on the last 1-5% of publication process, no matter how long i leave the program running. The end result is a "publish error" message, but at least the updates are online...
I've updated iWeb and tried several other things. I really need to publish my blog updates! Please help!

    thanks Roddy & Madison
I have tried several different things such as emptying the cache and deleting the iWeb preferences. I also created a new page and published it to a local folder, it worked perfectly well. Finally I tried publishing my blog to a different folder than I usually do. Same problem persisted: the application froze and quit while the process bar was on 'creating Archive page' (no error message displayed). When I opened the folder that had been created I discovered that Archive files had in fact been created and functioned properly. This means that the files that come next in the publishing process are the ones causing problems: Photos. In fact, I've tried to open the photo album page and every time I click on it the application just quits. Can't even delete the page to get rid of the problematic files...

  • URGENT: BPMN in BPA - Symbols, Lanes and Publishing processes

We are developing IT processes which might later be SOA enabled through BPEL and we are using BPMN model in Oracle BPA to design our processes.
    These are our doubts.
    1. Can symbols for Risk, controls be part of the standard pallette of symbols in BPMN model. It is currently not available, how can we add these symbols to the BPMN model.
    2. Can we generate a report containing the activities of all Lanes that have common name from multiple models. For e.g. the output lane will be present in all the process models, and we need to generate a report with the content of output lane of all process models.
    3. Can we attach templates to the activities in the process model, so that a person viewing THE PUBLISHED PROCESS MODEL can view/use the template.
Any help for these questions is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Binoy.

    Hi Binoy,
Q1 : Can symbols for Risk, controls be part of the standard pallette of symbols in BPMN model. It is currently not available, how can we add these symbols to the BPMN model.
A1 : You should not make Risk etc part of BPMN, The symbol set for BPMN better remain limited to the standard. That said, you have the option of attaching the Risk etc to the activity in the Function Allocation Diagram (FAD), that it he right place.
Rule to follow : Is this piece of info can go / going to BPEL: If yes it belong in BPMN model. If not keep it in FAD.
Q2 : Can we generate a report containing the activities of all Lanes that have common name from multiple models. For e.g. the output lane will be present in all the process models, and we need to generate a report with the content of output lane of all process models
A2 : Yes you can all you need in Java Script knowledge. BTW if you do create custom reports, please post your experience, I am greatly interested in custom reports and have not found any good pointers on custom reports.
Q3 : Can we attach templates to the activities in the process model, so that a person viewing THE PUBLISHED PROCESS MODEL can view/use the template.
A3 : Yes you can. BPA has extensive support for this. You can refer to the 2 book by Rob Davis to help you understand this.

  • Automate the Publish process?

Is there a way to automate the Publish process?  I am referring to, for example, publishing via the Command Prompt on Windows or Console on Mac.  Thanks.

I'm very glad to see this topic which I do want!
I think I have some trouble like this topic.
    I'm use BPM enterprise / studio 6.0
I'm use BPM studio which base on eclipse to clean and compile the BPM project.
trouble: the speed is so slowly and I can't stand it!
question: For convenient, is there ant task for clean and compile BPM project which like we did on normal java project?
For this topic, I found a ant task named "publish" which we can point to a BPM project(unnecessary an *.exp file) and publish to BPM server. Although I failed on doing this, but "user9946127 " can try to do it.
hope helpful and hope someone can help me.
    thanks.

  • IBooks publishing for coauthors and illustrators?

How does publishing to the iBookstore work for coauthors and illustrators? Is there a way to determine the percentage of royalties paid to each individual when you setup your contract with Apple? I understand that Apple keeps 30% and authors 70%, but how is that split up when there are multiple authors? I would assume that Apple has the ability to pay coauthors and illustrators separate royalty checks, but I haven't been able to find any information on this (even after reading two separate manuals for iTunes Connect and iBooks). Please let me know if you've had any experience with this and could tell me how the whole process works. Thanks!

Apple won't do this for you. You are the publisher, hence it is up to you to distribute royalties in the correct proportions to authors.

  • HT5071 iBook Publishing problem

I have been through iBooks producer and published a free iBook. It went through the entire process and all steps validated correctly. It does not show up in iBooks though when searched for. Does it go through a vetting service before going fully public.

Do I need to upload them through ibooks or can I get e-pub or pdf versions up there too? If so, how?
iBooks is an ebook reader, you don't upload anything with it.   If you want to submit books to the iBookstore directly, instead of via Smashwords, you use iTunes Connect and follow the instructions in the FAQ.

  • Changes to the Web Service publishing process (Operationalization)

With the new release of Azure ML features, we are updating the web service publishing workflow. Below are the list of changes:
Web Service Input / Output modules: these replace the input and output ports previously used to create web services. You can now drag and drop them on the experiment from the left pane under Web Services (instead of right-clicking on the module).
Generation of Scoring experiment from Training experiment: We have automated the steps in creating a Scoring experiment by adding the Web service input and output modules, and automated the saving of the Trained model. With this feature, you no longer need
to manually save a trained model and add it to a Scoring Experiment. The "Create Scoring Experiment" button will trigger these events and generate the Scoring Experiment for you. The resulting Scoring experiment can be published as a web service
as is, or user can make modifications to the generated workflow including location of input/output modules.
    To use this feature:
      ○ Create a Training Experiment (includes an algorithm such as Boosted Decision Tree and a Train Module)
      ○ Click Run
      ○ Click Create Scoring Experiment
      ○ Review the resulting Experiment, then Click Run
      ○ Then click Publish Web Service
    A sample Training Experiment:
Publishing a Training experiment as a web service:Similar to the Scoring experiment, we have now automated the steps to create a web service from the Training experiment using the "Prepare web service" command button. This action adds Web service
input and output modules to the training experiment. The experiment can then be published as a web service. This  approach to creating a web service is needed for setting up the Trained model for retraining using the Retraining APIs. But is not the recommended
approach for creating web services - Scoring experiment should be used for that purpose.
Publishing an experiment as a web service: in cases where the experiment does not involve training, such as when processing, transforming and cleaning up data, it can also be published as a web service using the "Prepare web service" button.
We will publish more detailed documentation for this and other features shortly. Please let us know if you have any questions.
    Thanks,
    The Azure ML Team

Hey Freppas, can you give some more information about your first ask? For classifiers, we already output the scored probability along with the scored label. You can limit the output to just the probability using the Project Columns module to exclude unwanted
columns. The web service is not concerned with domain-specific functionality - it will output exactly what you see being output in Studio when you set up the web service ports
The second ask is something we're working on bringing to our product - feature importance. Again, you would have to make it happen in the Studio before you publish the web service for the web service to have that functionality

  • Ibook publishing inquiry

I am currently developing an ibook that I want to publish privately via sdk. Can I publish to ibooks privately or how should I go about doing this? The goal of this is to be able to distribute amongst a circle of gastroenterologists exclusively.

In other words, would we be able to distribute the ibook on the ibooks store, free of charge, but privately?
    Thanks in advance.

    Are there any video tutorials?

Yes there are a large number in Vimeo and YouTube just search on "iBooks Author".
Several universities have created entire courses online.
There is also the free Publishing with iBooks Author which unfortunately only covers v1.0

  • IBook publishing from New Zealand

Has anyone managed to publish an iBook in New Zealand?

I have created an iBook using iBook Author. It successfully uploaded to publish, but when I go to territories and copyrighht it has a list of what countries you book can be available in and New Zealand is not one of them. So I was wondering if that was the case? I have New Zealand ticked as a territory in my personal settings.

I am presently using "Process Execution" option to generate the web service and it has no global activities.
Could somebody let me know how to trigger this process once it is published onto Enterprise ? i am using Oracle Weblogic Server as my J2EE engine.

  • SCUP Update publish process getting fail for DELL Catalog.

I am able to publish Adobe update under SCUP 2011 but Dell updates are getting fail.
from SCUP log file, came to know that issue is due to ftp based URL as it doesn't able to download that binary.

ftp specific entry is also present under registry.
Does any one face similar kind of behavior? any solution?

    Hi Nky85,
    >>Same URL is not working in browser as well, it's getting timeout there.
It seems that some device block the FTP traffic. Please check if any firewall or filter block the ftp traffic from ftp.dell.com.
I tested this URL with the broswer in my lab, it works. Here is the screenshot of my lab:
