ICal Alarm show event button broken

When an iCal alarm reminder pops up, clicking the button to show the details of the event has no effect. This is a new problem since using the transfer wizard to move to a new computer.
I tried deleting all the iCal preferences and searching the discussions, and to no avail. Any ideas of things to try or similar experiences?

Hi,

  • ICal Alarm - Pass Event data to AppleScript?

Is there a way that a script called by an iCal alarm can be passed event data as parameters?

This is a quick one I knocked up a while back to see if it was possible. The problem is that iCal doesn't tell the script what event triggered it, so you have to go looking ...

  • Upgrading to 10.6.1, iCal not showing events

After having upgraded to Snow Leopard, my iCal data has been corrupted. The calendar now only shows events from the beginning of this year (2009), except for the birthdays. Restoring under 10.6.1 from the backup file (backup under 10.5.9) gives the same result.
I have searched the forum for answers. It seems to be a lot of trouble with SL and iCal, but I so far cannot find any solution to my problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

After careful thinking I found the solution to my problem. The solution might be helpful to others, I therefore post it.
    1. I booted from the Synchronize Pro X disk. Logged on (to the backup disk with OSX 10.5.8) and then opened my MobileMe account from System Preferences.
    2. I set up synchronizing manually the Contacts and Calendars with MobileMe.
    3. I synchronized the Contacts and Calendars.
    4. Quit all and rebooted from my Master disk with 10.6.1
    5. Opened my MobileMe account from System Preferences.
    6. I set up synchronizing as under no 2.
    7. I synchronized Contacts and Calendars (or rather merged them)
    8. Quit my MobileMe account.
    9. Opened my iCal - and - voila, there they all were - my events from 2004 onwards to this day!

  • ICal syncing showing events twice

running ical 1.5.5. looks fine on my computer, but everything i sync it with (iPod, online Published calendar, and konfabulator PIM widget) shows every event twice, sometimes three times. very weird and very annoying. anyone have any ideas about this or how i could fix it?

    Hey Andrew,
this might help for I too have had the misfortune of stumbling onto this problem. I had duplicate and even triplicate events. Basically you can have either your calendars as a group to publish or as individual calendars published. You cannot have both published for example you cannot have the group CALGROUP set to publish and all the other calendars under it set to publish also. So far it has worked for me. Just set all the other calendars "under" the group name to unpublish and just have the group name set to publish. Hope this helps.

  • Ical not showing events from mail

I have upgraded to Lion OS X from my Snow Leopard install.  I have since updated to 10.7.2.  I was going to give Apple's Mail client another try since upgrading to Lion.  It's working fine so far, except that I have a problem with events not being being added to iCal.
In the Mail program I have a time for a webinar that I was added to iCal, when I click on the date link, I'm asked it I want to add to iCal.  I can see a mini view of a calendar in the Mail program with the event added.  (Via Image: SS002.png)
But when I open up iCal to check that it was added.  I don't see anything added for that day.  (Via Image: SS001.png)  Even though the Mail program says that it's there. (Image: SS002.png
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had this exact problem today but worked out that in my case I needed to hit Edit and then change the Calendar from my Gmail calendar to iCloud/iCal. As soon as I did that it appeared in iCal instantly.

  • After I upgraded to Mountain Lion my ICal will show event times in day, month and list format but not week format. I can click get info to find out the event time but that is cumbersome. I checked  the box to show event times in preferences but no go

cannot get times to show on my events in week format since I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I move the event up or down to change times and nothing shows on the event  frame like it did with Lion.
I  checked preferences and cannot seem to remedy this. Does anyone else have any ideas? Is there sometihing I need to set or is this anot

  • Duplicate iCal Alarms On iPhone 3GS

All iCal alarms show up twice. I do not sync using MobileMe. Searching the forum hasn't brought up this particular problem... Any suggestions?

I know why it wasn't working. What you said did help, but there was a problem when I sync one back to another. No matter which one I set the alarm to go off for it is always off by one. If I set an alarm to go off 2 days before the event it changes it to one day before. If I want it to notify me two hours before it change to an hour before. Anyone know why it does this?

  • ICal Alarms are unreliable.  Some show up, some don't.  How to fix?

My iCal alarms are unreliable.  Some work and some never show up.  I've even copied and pasted an event from one place to another, and on the new date, it didn't work.

It depends on the way you told iTunes to sort your music.
It mostly happens with mp3's from friends, as some software does not put the mp3 tags in as iTunes do, cause there are different mp3-tag versions out there.
For example, if you choose in iTiunes to sort by Album Name, all songs without a matching entry in the "Album Name" field where sorted to "unknown album" or "build up a different album" if only some "Album Name" entry's are different.
Also, if no Artist Name is set in the informations, the tracks will get sort to "unknown artist"
As said before, put all songs from the album in question into a playlist and edit the information to be the same on every track.
You may also mark all traks from the album at once, right click, choose information and put the correct Album name in the field.

  • Ical not showing new events and older events as well

    Hi There,
Since (as I recall) last monday, iCal started to work strange. Or, better put in other way: stopped working.
I have three calendars only (personal, work and "no category), all of them syncing with iCloud. There are two other local calendars too (in "my mac"), but I don't use them and they are unchecked.
I only use my macbook white and an iphone 3GS, also syncing with iCloud.
I don't subscribe any external calendar and don't accept any kind of invitation. It is a basic-simple use: I set my appointments (throw the whole year) and want to see / edit them on iphone.
Finally, I use reminders (on iphone) a lot and share the "personal" calendar with my with (she uses iCloud on her iphone and ipad).
The problems are basic two (as I could indentify so far):
    1) I can't set new appointments on iCal. Or better: I may set, but cannot see it. For instance, when a double click the Feb 24th to set a appointment, nothing happens, but a "New event" apperars on iCloud, right way. Looks like that iCal is setting the event up, but it just does not show it. Lately, I've discovered that when I go to the week view in iCal, it shows the event, but it just don't appear on month or year views;
    2) There are a bunch of events that appear correctly on iCloud (and iphone) but just don't show up in my iCal.
I've been trying to find a solution, already followed a couple of step-by-step possible solution (deleted local calendars, took off iClound accoun from iCal, deleted all files on specific folders in my library), but anything work out. It just don't work anymore.
    Scary...
I have just quit iCal and started using iCloud as my main input way for may events.... Wonder if anyone else is facing something like this and if is there any sollution out there.
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for my bad English.

i have a similar problem. i can't add any new events to my ical. i can do it on ical on icloud but not on the ical on my itouch. i can't edit them either. it tells me the event can not be saved because a calendar has not been chosen. it was working just fine yesterday and now it won't work.
i'm new to this on line community stuff. i posted my questions but i don't know how i'm supposed to see any answers. i guess it doesn't matter that i even ask you this or reply to you because i don't plan to be able to see any comments to this. oh well. computer stuff is just crap  sometimes. i guess we have to learn to deal with it.
my paper calendar NEVER gave me any problems. i would just pull out my trusty pen and write down my appointment and wallah! it was done. it wouldn't get erased or deleted or stop working.

  • When I subscribe to a calendar it doesn't show events in my ical even though it is refreshed

When I subscribe to a calendar it doesn't show events in my ical even though it is refreshed & is linked to iCloud - any ideas please?

Is the calendar checked in the list of calendars in the popup menu in the upper left corner?

  • How can I remove default alarm for events in iCal on devices ios?

Whenever I add an event to my iCal calendar in Mounain Lion it will automatically add one default alert only on my iphone and ipad. These default alarms are not displayed on my macbook or icloud.com
Default alarms are disabled in macbook, icloud.com, and my ios devices.
How can I remove default alarm for events in iCal on devices ios?
Thanks and sorry for my english.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X 10.8

OK, so I have had this issue for the past several months. I think it all started when I upgraded to ML from SL and migrated my calendars and contacts to iCloud. That was a couple months ago. But now I am running 10.8.2, and about two weeks ago I upgraded my iOS devices to 6.0.1.
I don't seem to be having any issues with events that I create now, but all those old events that were migrated to iCloud a couple months ago, many of those sound alerts on the iOS devices even though there was no alert defined when the event was originally created. I have always had alerts off by default both in iCal and on the iOS devices.
So here's the question: is there a way to go through and disable all these spurious event alerts? I've been disabling them as the event reminders come up, but it's irritating. It would be nice if there was a way to turn them off all in one shot somehow.

  • Ical appears translucent in dock and will not show events when opened

Has anyone recently experienced iCal appearing translucent in the dock? This is weird and just recently started happening. Once iCal is launched it appears normal in the dock but goes back to translucent when I quit. Our MacBook Pro is brand new just a few weeks old and all the software is up to date. Also, even weirder, suddenly the events are not showing up in the month view when launched. I can go back to December and then move to January and then they appear. I made sure that the preferences are checked to show times and that in View "show the to do list" is selected. Whenever it has been launched the calendar is blank and will only show events after view or preferences have been manipulated. Any help would be appreciated..

    kkovardfd,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Do you have any duplicate fonts? If so, make sure to resolve duplicates with Font Book.
Remove the iCal icon from the Dock, and replace it with the iCal Application located in your Applications folder.
Open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats> and set/re-set your appropriate "Region."
After deleting the iCal plist, also delete the com.apple.Dock.plist, log out/in from your account, or restart the computer. Your Dock will revert to default appearance.

  • How do I "show event times" on iCal Version 7.0?

I need to see event times in my month view on iCal, but there is no box to check in iCal Preferences that allows me to select "Show Event Times" as is suggested online. Can anyone help? I am running iCal Version 7.0 on my Mac OS X (10.9.4) system. Thanks!

    Hi,
You can find duplicates on iTunes 11.0.5.  I believe there was a problem with iTunes 11.0.0 but was fixed.
