ICal Crash EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)

Question

I received a message that 10 entries in iCal and Entourage needed to be resolved. When the entries were presented side-by-side on the screen, they were identical. I choose the iCal entry and then clicked "resolve all others in this way" (or something like that.) Then iCal froze, locking up the rest of the computer. 2 minutes later, iCal crashed, and the computer was released. I restarted iCal, unchecked Entourage, leaving only home and work calendars, and iCal froze again. 7 crashes later, I'm writing for help. The error message in part reads:
Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000010
I've looked through the boards and found one other message like this, which was linked to corrupt files in Address Book. I'm not computer saavy, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have a backup of your calendars somewhere? If not try to make a backup (if you need to) by exporting your calendars individually (use the File->Export option for each calendar).
One relatively easy thing to try is to remove your preference files and see if that helps. First quit iCal. Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move the following files to your desktop:
com.apple.iCal.plist
com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
com.apple.iCal.alarmscheduler.plist
Then restart iCal and see if it crashes again.
Another thing that has helped some users is to reset iSync history. Open iSync, go to Preferences and click on the "Reset Sync History" button. Again, quit iCal before doing this and make sure that Entourage is not trying to sync w/ iCal (in the Entourage preferences).
If none of this helps post back and I'll walk you through deleting your calendars and then re-importing them (from the export you do above).
