ICal Daily Alert Problem

I recently started having a problem using iCal. All was working well until I synced it with my iphone. What happened is that despite having event alerts off in the preferences and for the calendars as well, suddenly they all were giving me daily alerts. For instance, my holidays calendar notified me that tomorrow is Veteran's Day despite the fact I have that calendar set to ignore alerts. When I checked the calendar, ALL DAY entries now override the alerts off. Kind of ***** and wondering how best to proceed. I took off the calendars, restarted and reloaded the calendars fresh. But they came back with the daily alerts back on and the only way to turn it off is manually, which is a problem if you have daily events in your calendar you do not need to be alerted to! Any help will be appreciated.

Text Alert problem

Since upgrading to IOS 6 last night I only intermittently get alert when a text comes in. Does anyone have similar problem or fix. Also what is 'Lock Sounds' in settings/sounds?

there is nothing you can do to go back to ios 5.1.1....thats why i went and bought another 4s with the old software....we dont know how long this sound alert problem is going to continue...it could be months before they come out with a new update fix....believe me, i spent 4 hours on the phone with apple support and we could not find a fix for this problem......i guess as more and more people call in they will realize that this is a real problem and not just random.....also they have employess who do nothing other than read these forums, so the more people who write about this issue they will recognize there is a problem with the message sound alert....

Does iCal has alert feature like in Mac Calendar?
In the Mac Calendar, you can set a alarm for an event to send an e-mail at 15 minutes before event. Is it possible to do same in iPad iCal?

I know it will pop up an alert message, but is it possible to get it to send out an e-mail message instead? If it is possible, could you tell me how to do it in the iPad? I seem to be only able to make it pop out a message but not able to make it sends out an e-mail. Thanks.

Apps are forever linked to the ID used to download them. The only way to fix this is to delete the apps in question and download them again with the new ID

Revert to prior program after an iCal event alert.

Is there a setting available for the iPod Touch to automatically revert back to the program being used before an interruption from an iCal event alert?

I have a Logitech app that turns my iPod Touch into a mouse for my G5. It is very nice. However if I get an alert from iCal and I need to go into iCal to reschedule I have to exit iCal then re-launch the Logitech app. I have not tried ignoring the alert yet. It would be preferable to enter iChat then get back to the Logitech app without having to re-launch it.

I was able to get iCal email alerts to SEND via Entourage on a previous computer, instead of Mail, but now I want to use Outlook for it's superior Rule tests. And I can't seem to make iCal use anything other than Mail to SEND alerts. Any suggestions?

ICal's Alert feature has gone Ballistic!

Upon start up, the Alert window opens an empty window, then starts re-sending hundreds of old iCal email alerts. the Alert feature re-starts Mail after quitting Mail. It's brought my PB G4 to it's knees. HELP Please!! Is there a way to toss the email alert feature from the iCal program or reinstall just iCal OR is there a virus at work here?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?

ICal Alert Problem

When I setup an event in iCal on my desktop computer with an alert, this same event does show up in iCal on my iphone, however the actual alert only happens on my dekstop computer and not on my iphone. Can I get the alert to happen on both?
Do I have to setup events on my iPhone first to get the alert on my iPhone?

I have this same problem. I am running 10.6.8 and iOS 5.1.1. This used to work. I sync using a USB cable only.
The events are visible in my calendar, and when I look at an event, the alert is set properly to remind me 15 minutes before the event (or whatever it's set to).
I also sync my iPhone with an Exchange calendar. Events created in the Exchange calendar display alerts just fine on the iPhone.

Is it possible to change the default alert in iCal to email with Mac OS X Lion?

I see that with the introduction of Mavericks that they did not introduce the opportunity to set default alerts in their new Calendar upgrade, which I imagine would help a lot of people and would be relatively easy to create.
I like to have an email alert for every Calendar event in my Inbox (the best way for me not to miss any event) and at the moment with Mavericks Calendar it takes 4 clicks every time I set up a new event to achieve this, which os a real pain. It is even more clicks than Mountain Lion.
Does anyone know a workaround to achieve that until they write the software.

ICal default alert always Message with Sound? (10.7.3)

Please, can I have an option to change this setting? If I set the preferences to generate an alert with new events, it always has 2 alerts, one message and one sound (I think it is a recording of one of the mechanical parts of a MBP breaking ). Is that normal behaviour. I see it independent of the backend (local calendar, Exchange, Google, you name it.) Message is fine, but I don't want (any) sound.

I have the same problem, but I'm not using MobileMe. When I create an event in my iPhone4 (IOS4.1) with an alert, I want this event to show up in iCal with an alert of "Message with sound" after syncing with iTunes. Otherwise I have to check every new event that I created on my iPhone again on my Mac to change the alert type. Probably some people want it otherwise and would rather have the "Message" (without sound) type of alert, so the best thing would be to have the choice between sound or no sound on the iPhone when entering a new event with an alert.

ICal event alerts won't stop repeating

After the update to Lion 10.7.3, I get hourly repeating alerts from iCal. I've dismissed them but they keep on coming. And the list of the alerts keeps expanding each day. iCal is also repeating past alerts in the list. In addition, the alerts pop up with the Submarine sound, which I also cannot turn off. Needless to say, these hourly interruptions are very annoying. I've applied the Combo Update to try to fix the problem and looked for a solution in iCal and in the system but there isn't anything showing that tells me how to stop the issue.
Imagine trying to record audio and have one of these alerts pop up, as I have experienced. Not only does it cause a glitch in the recording, it also adds the sound to it. I turned off Alerts in the Sound preferences and that didn't help.
There seems to be no discussions with this problem recently.

While I'm waiting, thought I'd share what the first person had me do.Note that this did NOT fix this or any of what I suspect are Finder issues but it can help with some system wide glitches. In any case, it can't hurt:
Reset PRAM. This is easy.
1. Shut down your computer completely.
2. Turn it back on and immediately, hold down the Control, Option, P and R keys.
3. You will hear the usual chime.
4. Keep holding them down until you hear it chime a second time and then let go.

Ical and alerts

I know about multiple alert on an event, but I wanted to know if there's a way to have multiple alerts on EVERY event I create.What I want is that when I create an event, by default, there would be an alert 1h before the event, 30min before, 15min and 5min.
Can we? And if it's not possible, add that in the next update please!

my problem is that each time I set up manually an alert in Ical, when I press the bottom apply it cancels my alert settings. so it is impossible for me to set any alert for Ical. Someone can help me, please? Thank you,

ICal continually alerts me even when an event is passed

About every hour of so I get iCal popping up and alerting me of the same events even when they're passed.
This is in a standard user account if that changes anything. I have repaired permissions too.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem, Alerts disappear after my invitation is accepted.

IPad 4.3 iCal adds alert automatically

When I add an entry in iCal on my iPad 1st gen 4.3, a 10 minute alert (2 alerts) is added automatically.

you have to make a back-up first. (from itunes) so after the update, you should download the back-up files again from itunes. But I have to say ios 5 has a huge battery life problem in ipads. my battery life droped to %50 after the update.
