ICal is not completing its update when I open it and won't sync
I have been using MobileMe and iCal with my devices but since yesterday something is wrong. It's not synching but I think this is iCal on my Mac that has the problem. I have Snow Leopard. I changed a subscription and I was downloading some calendar events from a website (that converted them from outlook to ical automatically). I started getting a server error which I thought was related to the subscription so I deleted the subscription and added it from scratch. That seemed to get rid of the server errors but it still didn't fix the sync issue. Then I deleted the subscription to eliminate it as an issue but it keeps re-appearing. Why won't it delete for good?
In addition, all the calendar items I added from the other download (into a regular calendar) had floating for the time zone so I changed all those to Eastern Time (my iCal is set to CET right now but the conf is EST so I want to have the appts show up in the time zone I will be in next week).
Ever since the problems started, the spinning wheel next to my calendar never quits, which means it isn't synching to MobileMe or anything else. I'm no longer convinced this has anything to do with the subscribed calendar since the server error went away but why does a deleted calendar re-appear? I've used my iCal in different time zones so I don't see why this would be an issue but I am at a loss. I've been going through all kinds of troubleshooting on the website and I don't see the problem or a fix that makes any difference.
Can anyone help?
Your list of plugins shows that you have Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82 installed. For info, there has recently been an update for Flash, the latest version is now 10.r r85
Version 9.3.4.218 is the Adobe PDF reader/Acrobat version.

Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.

"Could not complete scan" error when using Windows Fax and Scan with a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus All-In-One network printer.
Printing is fine.
When using the HP Scan application, get the error "Scanner communication cannot be established".
When scanning from the printer itself it fails with the same message. In addition the printer panel displays the error:
"The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues:
Connection to the computer is lost
The scanner is in use
OCR application is not installed"
My PC is a HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF 64bit, with ethernet cable to the router and ethernet cable to the printer
Originally ran Windows 8.0; recently upgraded to Windows 8.1.
Older separate Netgear router and modem was replaced with a newer Netgear Router/Modem, but both experienced the same problem.
There was no problem with the original Windows 8.0 configuration and only after upgrading to 8.1 did the problem emerge.
On my home netowrk I have an HP ProBook 6550b running Windows 7 sp1 that uses wireless to get to the Router, and it has no problem with scanning.
I have followed the recommendations of a number of articles relating to this issue (including: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02915410&product=4323659#N94), but there has been no change in behaviour.
The printer has a static IP address;
Power settings have been adjusted to Never for Turn off Hard Disk; Sleep and Hybrid Sleep.
Scanning has been tested with all firewalls and antivirus turned off and in Selective Startup.
The printer has been plugged directly into the power socket.
With all these settings the Windows 8.1 cannot scan while the Windows 7 laptop with wireless to the router has no problems.
Appreciate any insights into this problem.
I can only surmise that the problem is a compatibility problem between the 8600 Printer and Windows 8.1.
Any ideas?

MotorbikeYou can determine if there is compatiblity between the printer and PC by checking the Windows 8.1 hardware compatibility list. I have done that and it is shown to be fully compatible. If the driver you installed before was only the basic driver,it would explain the lack of scan and copy functionality.
Download and install the Windows 8.1 full feature driver and software on the HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF 64bit PC .

The mail on my ipad2 is completely wiped out, totally blank, it won't sync with the computer, nor will it send and receive, everything else is running fine and syncing ok, can anyone help? Since writing this yesterday, I have found that other iPhone owners have had the same problem in my immediate area. AT&T claims there was a problem the same day with the local cell tower. Despite that, AT&T customer service phone reps keep telling me that I need a new phone. I don't believe one rep knows what the other is doing.
So as a word of advice, don't go out and buy a new phone until you are absolutely sure. My iPhone is working fine. -
UI not getting change update when working with LIST and INotifyPropertyChanged
i was trying to know two way data binding. i have simple car class which extend INotifyPropertyChanged for notify the change to update UI. bind List object to few textboxes and notice when one textbox value change then other textbox value not updated. all

I recommend use of ObservableCollection rather than BindingList.
The default on bindings is that changes are propagated from the target ( view ) to source ( vm ) when the control loses focus.
If you want to do the equivalent to a keydown event handler in a viewmodel then onpropertychanged is the way to go.
You want to avoid creating bindings in code unless you really really have to, it's way easier to put them in xaml.
Even if your ui is dynamic, you can build xaml and use that to create the ui objects:

What probably isn't very obvious is that BindingList fires an event - iirc itemchanged when properties on objects in it change.
Maybe you did something wrong in your implementation of inotifypropertychanged. I must admit, I can't see anything there though.
You don't really need those magic strings since .net4.5 and you also don't need to explicitly implement inotifypropertychanged you could use:

Most wpf devs will use observablecollection rather than List or bindinglist.
Observablecollection notifies addition or removal of entries. It can be used to notify an entry has changed, but does not detect change of property. You would have to raise the event in code if you want to tell it an item changed.

ITunes does not register that my iPhone is plugged in and won't sync. Help?
I have recently uninstalled and reinstalled my iTunes because I was having issues with it. I also had to reset all my settings on my iPhone 4s this morning because of some audio issues I had. Both are now resolved. However, I would like to sync my iPhone to my computer now, even though I have some of my iCloud data on my phone. The trouble is that, while my phone is connected to the computer and iTunes is open, neither iTunes nor my phone are registering the connection. Anyone able to help me figure out what is going on?

Why does iphoto stay in the background off screen when I open it and won't stay on screen?
Since yesterday every time I try to open iphoto it stays out of sight. I can bring nto view using mission control but I cannot work with it.
I have downloaded mountain lion and iphoto but I still have the problemTry trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)

What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101. -
before i do updates for my iphone (to 5.0.1) i close my SIM card, i can not complete the update proccess becouse SIM is closed also i can not activate iPhone becouse the SIM must be opened. when i try to open it , the networks does not appear (no service).
Its a serious problem and many people are facing the same issue on both locked and factory unlocked phones.
I wonder when Apple will address to this issue. After all it is losing all its reputation!

Hi. My device won't update iOS in settings. It won't download any new apps for me. (It is connected to the internet). The latest app I tried to download appears stuck! Has not completed its download, won't open and I cannot delete it. What can I do? I purchased the product online a year ago. I'm not sure of the exact date... I think it was late November 2012.

I have completed the OS X Maverick upgrade, restart etc. but when attempting to update 8 other Apps to X Maverick I get this message:

Help!Similar threads solve this problem by either creating a new administrator identity, which allows one to update applications, or changing the keychain prefs to Best attempt. My issue was solved by adding a new admin user, and then updating the apps from the App store using the new identity. Under my orginal user identity the keychain app would crash when I attempted to open Prefs. After creating a new identity and updating the applications (iPhoto, etc) I found I was able to open the keychain Prefs logged into my orginal identity.

My mac hung up while installing an update. It took hours and still did not complete the update. I restarted my mac. Upon turning it back on, a wheel has been spinning on a grey screen. I tried to reinstall OS X from utilities, but encounter an error. What do I do?

First point of call on all grey screen issues is the following:

Given this issue has appeared after a software update, I'd advise you do the following instead though:
1. Get an external hard drive, with enough space to put the entire hard drive of your Mac onto. Make sure you've safely copied any data you have off of it, as the next step will erase it.
2. In the recovery HD of your machine, use Disk Utility to format you EXTERNAL hard drive with the partition table as GUID, and the format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
3. Get out of Disk Utility, and click Reinstall Mac OS X.
4. When asked where, choose to install onto your external hard drive.
5. When the download and installation is complete, your Mac will reboot into a clean fresh setup screen. Make your user account an administrator, and make up a name and password; I use 'Test' and 'test'.
6. Your machine is now running from the external hard drive, not the internal hard drive, so don't be alarmed when you don't see your files.
7. Open the finder, you should see 'Macintosh HD' in the sidebar. This is the internal hard drive of your computer.
8. Open Macintosh HD, and copy out the following folders into a new folder on your desktop:
-Users.
-Applications.
-Library. (This only needs to be done if you use 3rd party software that saves things in the /Library, do a quick google and see if it does e.g. Photoshop, Protools).
9. When these have copied (it'll take quiet a while), you can now use Disk Utility to erase your hard drive. Don't erase Macintosh HD but the ENTIRE hard drive on the inside of your Mac, and as Thomas A Reed mentioned, there was likely an existing issue on your HDD so please go to Security Options and choose 'Zero Out' before clicking erase. This will rebuild the partition table which was a possible cause of the failed update.
10. Reboot the machine holding 'Option', go to recovery HD.
11. Choose 'Reinstall Mac OS X', this time onto your INTERNAL hard drive.
12. When this is complete, make another admin user called test and password test, like you did last time.
13. Run Software Update from the menu of your Mac.
14. In the Finder, you should see your external Hard Drive. open it up, inside that you should see your desktop etc, and on the desktop will be your folder containing Library, Applications and Users.
15. Go to Finder up next to the and choose File -> New Finder Window.
16. In your second finder window, open up Macintosh HD (through the Go -> Computer menu), and go to your Users folder.
17. Open the Users folder in your first finder window, and copy your user folder (has your name on it) into the second user folder (the one inside Macintosh HD).
18. This might take a while.
19. When complete, go to System Preferences -> Users and Groups and unlock the padlock.
20. Click the '+' sign, and make a new administrator user.
21. Now, the fun bit. Note the name of your user folder you copied, e.g. 'Nathan', containing all of your stuff. Note the difference between your user folder (has your name on it) and the Users folder (contains YOUR user folder, guest folder and shared folder).
22. Make the ACCOUNT NAME of your new adminstrator user the EXACT name of your user folder (normally lower case and without spaces), this is case sensitive folks. Your full name can be whatever you want, usually your full name.
23. Then click create. You should be informed that a home folder with that name in it already exists in the Users folder, would you like to make your new account from that folder? say YES!
24. When this is complete, log out of the Test user, log into your new account we've just made, all your stuff should be there.
25. ???????
26. Profit.
There's a few little bits that may need to be cleaned up afterwards, applications folder from your external hard drive should replace the applications folder on your internal hard drive, if the previously mentioned /Library folder contained important goodies then that should replace the /Library folder on your new Mac.
Hopefully that will help you out, straight after that is done make sure your stuff is there, erase your external hard drive and turn on time machine! -
Tried loading the latest version of itunes but the download would not complete. Now when I connect my phone to a usb i get an error stating required files are missing, reinstall itunes. I tried that but the reinstall keeps timing out?
