Ichat multiple login problems

whenever i start my ichat, it logs in 4 or five times and then a window pops up saying something about how i logged in to many times in one period of time and to try again later. this happens every time i start it. can anybody help me?

Hi
Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
Set the port to 443.
Log back in again.

  • Multiple Logins Problem

    I have developed a site and from our client we have a requirement that
    at any time only one user can be log in to the server with the same
    user name.
    it means
    same user can't log in from different machines.
    if one user is log in from one machine it can't be
    log in from any other machine till first user is logged off.
    if any body have some idea plz share with me .
    thanks

    hi,
    i have an application to build which allows the user to login only once. if the user has logged in from other browser or machine the next logged in user will have access to the site n the previous one will get error message "user with same name has logged in". Now for that i have kept a HashMap object "monitor" at the application level in the jsp. it holds the session object as the value and the userid as the key. now when the user logs in, it first checks the whether the userid exists in the monitor object...if it exists the it first removes the old session n with that session it sets the attributes of "USERLOGON_FLAG" to "FALSE".......the code is somewhat as below.
    if( valid.verifyPortalUser( userName, password ) ){ // checks the username n password from the database
    if( monitor.containsKey( String.valueOf( validBean.getUserId() ) ) ){ // then checks if the userId exists in the monitor object
         HttpSession oldSession = ( HttpSession )monitor.get( String.valueOf( validBean.getUserId() ) );
    // gets the session value from the monitor object n sets the userlogon_flag to false.
    oldSession.putValue("USERLOGON_FLAG","FALSE");
    monitor.remove( String.valueOf( validBean.getUserId() ) );// after that remove it from the monitor object
    session.putValue("USERLOGON_FLAG","TRUE"); // if its not logged in then will set the userlogon flag to false
         monitor.put(String.valueOf( validBean.getUserId() ),session); // n then puts the value n key in the monitor object
    response.sendRedirect("somePage.jsp");
    Now sometimes it gives me NullPointer error while removing from the monitor object...whereas if i print the monitor object before removing it it shows the userId is present.
    i hope the code is right...do i need to keep it in the synchronized block...or is there any other way to remove this error
    thanks in advance

  • My iChat buddies dont show up and also having login problems.

    I am having two problems with my ichat. My buddies dont sign online and I also experience the login problem where it opens and collapses many times and says that I have tried to logon too many times. Please help. I have searched this message board and thus far nothing that I have found has worked

    Try logging on to AIM on port 443 rather than port 5190.
    Go to IChat in the menu bar > Preferences > Accounts.
    Log out of AIM and then use the Server Settings tab
    Set the port to 443(press return/enter(you might have to tick and untick SSL for 443 to stick)).

  • Multiple Logins - Same Browser Cookie Problems??

    Is there any Issues in which a User uses Tabs to Login (LDAP Authentication)?
    I have only a Cookie Name in the Cookie Attributes in Authentication Setup.
    I had multiple browsers opened and signed on an application. A :tx- row lock contention was evident..
    INSERT INTO WWV_FLOW_DATA ( FLOW_INSTANCE, ITEM_ID, ITEM_VALUE ) VALUES ( :B4 , :B3 , :B2 ||':'||:B1 ||':0:0')
    Can someone explain what happened here, and does multiple logins have to be prevented?
    Should I add a Cookie Path and Domain to prevent this?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,
    I need a more detailed scenario to follow. I'm not even sure you are saying that something did not work properly.
    FYI, cookies have no presence in session state.

  • AIM login problem on Macbook Pro

    hi all,
    i can't logon to aim with iChat (or Adium).
    it doesn't seem to come from my network since i can logon to AIM on WinXP (using Trillian).
    also, i tried to connect using my .mac account, and it seems that .mac is using the aim network?? (login.oscar.aol.com server)
    this is really weird.
    any hints?

    Hi vvlinnzz,
    How is your moemd set up to handle two computers ?
    Are you using UPnP or Port Triggering that will allow multiple computers to use the same ports ?
    Port Forwarding will generally point incoming data to one IP address only.
    AS AIM and iChat both log on to AIM on port 5190 you may have problems with Port Forwarding.
    In addition go to iChat > Preferences > Accounts
    Select the account you are trying to Log on with
    Go to the Account Info tab.
    Whilst it is logged out of AIM select the third Check box (Allow Multiple Logins)
    This will allow both computers or two different apps on the Mac to log in to AIM with the same Screen name.
    If the account names are different and the @mac password is over 16 cahracters you will have problems.
    Make the @mac password shorter (AIM only allows 16 .mac allows more)

  • Disable Multiple Logins isn't working quite right?

    In iChat I do not have "Allow multiple logins" checked for my AIM account. However I am having no problems logging in on my computer, and with the AIM app on my iPhone at the same time. Both can send and receive messages. Ideally I would like to have logging in with one log the other out, and I thought that's what unchecking "Allow multiple logins" would do, but apparently not? Is it for something else? Are there any other ways to get the effect I'm after? Thanks

    Hi,
    Have either of you got iChat set to Allow the messages to be sent to a Phone ?

  • Multiple logins on one computer - Different accounts, same picture...?

    Greetings,
    Since the iPhone 3.0 recently released push notifications, I decided to open an account for my wife that she could use on her iPhone. From what I understand, iChat now allows multiple logins on each computer.
    I set everything up accordingly, noted that I am the admin on this computer, my picture pops into my ichat name. If I then enable her account on the same computer, her login also pops up next to my window. This is working according to plan.
    However, if I try to change the picture on her ichat window it also changes on mine. What am I doing wrong here?
    Cheers...

    Hi,
    iChat can not display different Buddy Pics for different Buddy Lists.
    This may change with Snow Leopard.
    Click the iChat Menu and use the Feedback option and post your wish there.
    iChat can use one of 4 Buddy pics.
    You can set a Pic in the iChat Buddy List by clicking on the current one and using the edit features.
    If there is not one in the Address Book for yourself And this tends to be the one selected in System Preferences > Accounts > Your account although you can set them to be different (Three choices so far) it will default to one for the account type (A Running yellow man for AIM, A Blue Globe for @mac.com names and the Cloud for MobileMe names).
    Apple have tended to suppose that if two or more people are going to be using a Mac that there are then Mac User Accounts set up on the computer and therefore there is no issue with Buddy Pics.
    The iChat Buddy List is held on the AIM server (AIM names, @Mac.com [email protected] ones).
    Part of the process is that the local Buddy list compares this to the Address Book and Add the Real names you have entered.
    So only this name in the Address Book on that computer will show Real names if entered.
    You can Export the Address Book on one computer and Import on the other to get them the same. (Or Sync via MobileMe if you have an Account)
    You are getting in to the realms of your wife's Buddies being in your Address Book.
    Did I mention another Mac User Account ?

  • How to prevent multiple logins by using HttpBindingListener

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how do i actually use session to prevent multiple login from different machine? From my understanding, i need to use HttpBindingListener to valueBound and valueUnbound when user tries to login, but i encounter a problem is my session is always overwritten since i use setAttribute() method in servlet.
    For instance i use username(aaa & bbb) to login in two different machine, my login is always overwritten if i use username bbb to login after username aaa. i know it is because setAttribute() method overwrite existing session data, so i would like to know what other method should i use to achieve what i want, tks.

    Hi,
    This is the logic for session :
    Connect to db for verification, once verified, system return a UserBean and this UserBean will be set in ClientSecurityEngine
    When this particular user has been successfully verified, a new session will be created
    if(success)
        session = request.getSession();
        User user;
        synchronized(session)
        user = (User) session.getAttribute("user");
        if(user == null)
           user = new User(ClientSecurityEngine.getInstance().getUserBean().getUsername());
           session.setAttribute("user", user);
    /* User class */
    public class User implements HttpSessionBindingListener {
        private static Map<String, HttpSession> logins = Collections.synchronizedMap(new HashMap<String, HttpSession>());
        private String username;
        public User(String username) {
            this.username = username;
        public String getUsername() {
            return username;
        @Override
        public void valueBound(HttpSessionBindingEvent event) {
            if (logins.containsKey(getUsername())) {
                HttpSession session = logins.remove(getUsername());
                if (session != null) {
                    session.invalidate();
                logins.put(getUsername(), event.getSession());
            } else {
                logins.put(getUsername(), event.getSession());
        @Override
        public void valueUnbound(HttpSessionBindingEvent event) {
            logins.remove(getUsername());

  • Multiple logins from the same site not working with iCloud Keychain

    Hello all,
    I am trying to use the iCloud Keychain with my iPhone and iPad. I use a website that has two different logins, each with its own password. On Mavericks, I am able to select the correct username/password from my iCloud Keychain by pressing the "down" arrow in the username box.
    However, with my iOS devices, I am unable to access multiple logins. It merely Autofills the most recently used combination on whichever device most recently visited the site.
    Is there any way to get multiple login support working for an iOS device?
    Thank you!

    It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Multiple Login in ATG on multiple server instances.

    Hi,
    I'm facing a issue with multiple logins in my web application. The scenario is explained below:
    1. I login from one browser (IE) and add an item to cart. Then I navigate to cart page. I logout.
    2. I login from another browser (Chrome) and add another item to cart. Now I have two items in my cart. I'm still logged in.
    3. I login to IE again and it throws error saying ConcurrentUpadteException.
    This is very obvious.
    1. In first step the profile's order is picked up from repository and updates it version to '2' (suppose). This change is there still in the cache and not persisted in the DB. I logout. The order will get persisted only after 5 minutes, due to cache configuration.
    2. Next in step 2 we get the same order from the repository and makes its version number to '2' also. I'm still logged in.
    3. Now in step 3 when the order is again picked up from repository and updates the order version to '2'. Hence the ConcurrentUpdateException.
    This is happening because I have multiple sever instances and the request can be handled by any of the server instance. Had there been only one server instance it would have only one cache, and order will be picked up from the same cache every time.
    If I can invalidate the sessions across all the server instances I can resolve this issue. The problem is how can I do this. Is this possible by a making changes in the program or by changing any configuration.
    Please give me suggestions on how to take it up from here.

    Not sure what is the real issue you are facing. For resolving the concurrentUpdateException in order, ATG is suggesting some steps to follow while updating the order.
    Check the below solution, you need to have a support id to access this article.
    https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=1362812.1
    Regarding your second question, for invalidating the cache for multiple instances, ATG provides different Caching Modes, you may check the documentation.

  • Guest Wlan multiple login with Cisco Identity Services Engine

    Dear all,
    I have been looking for some details with regards to multiple logins on Guest WLAN.
    Currently my customer is facing the following problem
    When a Guest Wlan user logs in, the same user could login again on the same time frame,
    in other words guest Wlan user can login multiple times.
    is this intentional or a bug on the ISE
    product name : L-ISE-BSE-250=
    any advice or any article related to this would really appreciate it
    thanks in advance
    Lnacellot

    Ok, Ranjane you took me back to 1900BC, had to dig the case up for you.
    to be clear this is what customer wants
    a guest user concurrently login from two devices at the same time
    What  he wants is: any given time Guest user should be only able to login  once (Ex if you login to your PC and leave it logged on, then go to a  another PC with same user you would be able to login – this need to be  limited)
    So under the User login Policy this should be able to limit to one login
    you may want to check  the concurrent session limit on the WLC: It is under  Security > AAA > User Login Policies. There is a global number,  that will limit the concurrent logins from a single user name.
    hope it was useful
    regards,

  • Multiple Logins of single user

    How do we prevent a single user from multiple logins on IDM.
    If the user has already logged-in, IDM should prevent the same user when tries to login again.
    Thanks.

    This is really difficult to implement. The app server takes care of most of this session behaviour and we can have mulitple IDM instances in a setup which makes this really difficult.
    The other thing is how would you detect a second login? Does the second login come from the same IP or different IP? There are possible problems with all these scenarios.
    It is an oustanding enhancement to give you this option but it will not come soon.

  • MULTIPLE LOGIN WITH SAME USER ID

    Hi,
    As per my understanding, multiple login to the portal with the same user id and password is allowed.
    Now,
    1. Is it possible to disbale this in the portal so that user can login to the portal only once?
    2. Is it possible to allow specified no of logins with the same user id?
    Any response is highly appreciated.
    regards,
    Chandra

    What you're trying to do just doesn't work that well with any web application, let alone NW.  There are various problems with trying to restrict the number of sign ons:
    If a user signs into the portal and then walks away, they are unable to sign in again from another workstation.  What if they want to give a demo to a user elsewhere in the company while they're still signed in at their desk?  This is really just a user-issue, but an annoying one that will almost certainly drive certain users nuts.
    What if the user's web browser crashes (an unfortunately common occurence).  They can't sign in again until their session times out.  Either that, or they call the portal admin to clear out their session (how?  I don't know).  The portal admin probably has better things to do than cleaning up orphan sessions.
    If a user can't sign in multiple times, they can always open a related browser session, thereby having multiple entry points into the portal.
    So, in short, you really can't enforce a 'sign in once' rule.  By association, you therefore can't restrict them to a maximum number of sign-ins either...
    Hope that helps you out.  Points are always good
