IChat tutorial or instruction set up?

Hello guys! Is there any good tutorial or step by step iChat set up? Thank you! Igor.

Hi,
In words it can be fairly simple.
1) Register Screen Name or ID depending on Service to be used.
2) Launch iChat and enter Screen Name or ID on the page for Service to be used
OR open iChat and go to Preferences > Accounts and click the Add ( + ) Button and fill in details there.
3) add Buddy.
However there are places you can trip up and have Problems.
If you register for an @mac.com name  for instance the password has to be 16 characters or Less.
This is a valid AIM Screen Name.
As it is also a Apple ID you will need to link it to another Email address.
This has to be one that is NOT already linked to an Apple ID
If you are using a Gmail ID then you have to Enable Talk on your Google Account.
An in iChat the Name you enter MUST be exactly as it appears on the Google Mail Web page
(the Mail app seems to allow you to enter [email protected] or [email protected] but it makes a difference in iChat).
NOTE.
If you have an AIM Valid Name (MobileMe, @Mac.com or AIM ) then you buddy has to as well.  (Any of these would be an "AIM" List)
If you have a GoogleTalk ID or a Jabber one then so does you Buddy.
iChat will not be able to Text chat (Or other chats) to Google/Jabber Buddies entered in a AIM List or vice versa (Adding AIM Buddies to a  Jabber/Google List)
(Video and Audio Only chats are iChat to iChat only for Jabber and Google Buddy Lists)

  • How do I enable SSE2 instruction set in Macbook Pro?

    Hi all,
I am running a virtual Ubuntu in my Macbook Pro, and I have tried to compile some C++ source code in that virtual Ubuntu.
The error messages I got all point to the "SSE2 instruction set is NOT enabled".
I know all Macbooks are equiped with this SSE/SSE2, but now the problem is how to I make sure it is properly activated.
Does anyone have similar experience? Thanks for the help in advance!

Sign into the App Store using your Apple ID and password. Locate the Yosemite upgrade and download it to your computer. The purchase is "free." It's a 5.13 GB file so it will take a while to download. When the download is complete the installer will start automatically. You will see an Install button appear on your screen. Before you click on it I recommend that you copy the installer from your Applications folder to your Downloads folder. The installer will delete itself automatically from the Applications folder when it has completed the installation.
Might I suggest you do this beforehand:
Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
Make a fresh backup of your current system.

  • Is it valuable for processor(CPU)  to use the instruction set of java virtual machine?

I've got an idea that processor(CPU) would use an instruction set like java virtual machine instead of assembly language whose instruction includes MOV ,INC ,ADD AX, ....
Thus this type of processor(CPU)  can support any java program just like Windows with a java virtual mache software package.
Thus the operating system like Android, Windows Phone can be writen in Java. For embeding system with no operating system , programs  can also be writen in Java directly.

Well, this is rather off-topic but… Sun once designed a Java-Core that was running Java natively, but they never went anywhere with it. Java code, when created  well, runs reasonably fast. It seems just that most of todays programmers don't know, what they're doing, when they're writing Java code.

  • OATS CPU does not support the SSE2 instruction set required to run JRockit

    Hello,
I am trying to get the OATS agents to work on some injector machines, however, when I try to start them I get the following error:
"[ERROR] Your CPU does not support the SSE2 instruction set required to run JRockit.
Could not create the Java Virtual Machine."
Is there a way to configure OATs to use the Sun JDK instead? I have the Sun JDK in my path and JAVA_HOME set accordingly, however that doesn't seem to make a difference. Alternatively, is there a workaround to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Michael.

    Hi Tab,
In this case, SQL Server Analysis Services doesn’t support Distributed Transactions by design. Here is a similar thread about this issue for your reference, please see:

One workaround is that use SQLCMD to execute the EXEC AT command and saved the results to a file, then import using SSIS.

  • Compiling AS3 with the SSE2 Instruction Set

Hey everyone. I'm a little out of my depth going down into CPU architectures and instruction sets. I'm attempting to make floating point calculations deterministic across different machines, and I've been told that this can be accomplished by using the SSE2 instruction set. Information on how to do this or if it's even possible in Flash is very scarce!
    https://plus.google.com/108947441732587319485/posts/iwTQWER1vHf
Across Flash/Flex/FlashDevelop is there any way of settings the actionscript compiler to use SSE2? Can anybody help at all?
    Many thanks!

Seems like the answer is yes: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/661338/sse-sse2-and-sse3-for-gnu-c (though this of course assumes you are not targetting AS3/AVM2 which has no SSE2 instructions)

  • Core 2 Duo Instruction set architecture

Hi, just want to clarify something, I got an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running Snow Leopard. Shouldn't that mean the computer should use the x86-64 instruction set architecture, but running arch returns i386, an x86-32 architecture?
I was just wondering if I simply misunderstood which architecture my computer uses as standard or what?

Your iMac is running the 32-bit kernel in Snow Leopard by default, not the 64-bit kernel. If you want to run the 64-bit kernel on a case-by-case basis, reboot and hold down the 6 and 4 key. If you want to boot to the 64-bit kernel every time, there are terminal commands and third-party utilities that can enable this, but be sure you understand the ramifications.

  • How to set up an ichat account, how to set up an ichat account

im trying to set up my iChat and email on my macbook, and i am new to mac computers. can someone plz help me?

    http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/

  • How to re-set ichat if 1st account setting was s=wrong?

Who can give a hand? I think it's simple for many of U but I am still green ...

    Hi,
    Jason has the basics
If I followed these steps then My Google Account would get deleted.
Bonjour is always there (it can only be turned "On" or "Off" by using the "Enable this Account" option on the account Info tab on the right - just visible in this pic).
As both the Jabber type IDs and some Vaild AIM names can use the @ symbol it is easy to set an email address as one account type or the other and then find it can not Login.
If adding a MobileMe (Ends @Me.com) you need to select the MobileMe option in the pane that appears when you press the + Button
Same for @Mac.com names. (select @Mac.com that is)
These are both Valid AIM Screen Names and will login to the AIM Servers (login.oscar.aol.com) and is not a mistake.
However Apple does allow these both to have Passwords longer than 16 characters.
Unfortunately the AIM Servers do not allow Passwords over this length and you get a message that the User Name or the password is "Wrong".
You have to Shorten the password.
You can also add Jabber IDs.
These come in the format or User Name  and Server Name joined by the @ symbol making them look like Email address but they are not.
If you chose Jabber in the Add Account Pane and type in any old Email address the server name will be presumed to be the bit after the @ symbol
You can look in the server setting tab at this.
Lets say you had an Email address that was [email protected] and entered this as a Jabber account in iChat.
Then the Server setting tab would show you the name as NorthPoleEmailsAreUs.com (although it would use lower case - I just hope that is easier to read)
Obviously this is not a Jabber server (As well as being a ficticous Email server).
GoogleTalk is a Jabber server run by Google.
If you have such a Mail account then you can Enable Talk on your Account settings at Google then use your Email Address in iChat (you do have to enter it as it shows on the Google pages).
However it has a separate entry spot in the Add Pane as Google do not stick to the Naming Convention - so iChat does it for you (It uses talk.google.com and not gmail.com or googlemail.com).
If we have not covered your scenario then lets us know more details.

  • TUTORIAL UPDATE : STREAMCLIP SETTING (Somewhat more precise)

For the recommended fast (vs. H264) MPEG-4 recording here are two tips:
    1. Leave the quality slider at 100%
    2. Go to the Limit Bitrate to box set at 256 KB/sec ( NOT MB/sec) which is just a hair under the 2.5 mbps limit.
Then you get as close to the MPEG-4 limit as possible vs. guessing if 40-50% is right or not.
BONUS TIP: you can save as a preset, all the settings - let's recap what those are:
    1. Video - MPEG-4 compressor @100% quality
    1 A. Limit bitrate to 256 KB/sec
    2. Audio - AAC at 128 kbps
    3. Size - 320 X 240 in the little pull down menu under the preset size buttons
    4. Deinterlace if you like
    5. Use the batch list to do a bunch at once, with the preset which you can use again and again.
BONUS TIP: (#2) - If you want to save about 20% of the file size change the frame rate from no setting, to 24 FPS. In the frame rate box. You won't see a difference.

    Hi,
I'm from the United States, I own CS2, I know dangerously close to nothing about what I'm doing, and I have a few stupid questions for you.
First, thanks very much for the tutorial. These kinds of step by step explanations do a world of good.
As it happens I own a PAL dvd I'm passionate about converting to an NTSC dvd. From what I've read, a first step is using Slipstream to create a quicktime movie to import to either FCP or Compressor depending on the technique employed. I did this before reading your tutorial.
First, instead of using file>open files I used file>open dvd Was this a huge mistake?
Since I was dealing with a PAL dvd, I used settings identical to the ones in your screen capture. But now I'm having regrets because I see no evidence of interlacing on the original dvd in freezeframes, which makes me wonder if I should have unchecked "interlaced scaling and reinterlace chroma"? How can I be sure whether my PAL dvd was interlaced or progressive?
Third, the resulting Quicktime movie is squashed into a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of letterboxed. Is this ok at this stage of the process, or should I have a panic attack?
Lastly, and perhaps this is beyond the scope of this discussion, where did all of the subtitles and audiotracks go? Are they in the Quicktime movie somewhere? After I do the NTSC conversion how can I rebuild the dvd as it was in all other respects?
Thanks a lot for your patience.

  • Ichat confusion- Can't set up an account?

I have had my imac for a bit...just had a software update and am running os x 10.6.6. Ichat is version 5.0.3.
My mom keeps harassing me to set up an ichat account. She said hers set up automatically with jabber. I tried setting me up..it takes me to the set up screen. I have tried doing the jabber..but don't have an account name.. From what we understand..the imacs already have jabber? My mom said hers filled in automatically with her name. My didn't. So I cannot get ichat to work..
Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
If you start iChat for the First Time it will read any Info already in the My Card in the Address Book.
There is a section here for Screen Names and the plus button can add more and you can use a drop down to Specify AIM or Jabber and some others.
I must admit to not ever having set the Address Book Up and then started iChat to know if it does actually pick up any AIM or Jabber name but I don't see why it shouldn't.
The more regular method is to Get an Screen Name before running the Start up Screens and entering an AIM one or an Jabber one in the relevant Screen (there are two separate screens for this).
Also NOTE that AIM at this stage is any Name that can login to the AIM Servers and Include @Mac.com Names and MobileMe (@me.com) name as well and Jabber includes Google Talk.
In iChat 5.x it is possible to "Get an iChat Name" in the iChat Preferences.
(If you have clicked through all the start Screens iChat will only list Bonjour whether it is Enabled or not)
    See this section
The First pic is to just show the Preferences are in the iChat Menu (Even though the highlight is for something else)
The Next pic show th Add Button in the Accounts section.
In here the top Drop down will show you five choices.
Choosing AIM will take you to this page on clicking the Get an iChat Account.
Choosing one of the two Apple Options will take you here
This page now does two things.
It takes Any email address you supply and makes that an Apple ID (This can be an issue if you only have one Email Address and have used it already for the ID to Post here or in iTunes).
The main purpose though is that you get an @Mac.com name (It looks like an Email but is not) that you can use with iChat.
    Both these options are free.
You then enter that name you get in to the Add Account screen you started from.
Alternatively you can choose Jabber and enter any Jabber ID you have (Or use the GoogleTalk option and enter your Google ID.)
    NOTE:-
GoogleTalk has to have Talk enabled at your Google Accounts settings
iChat also insists that you enter it as it shows when you go to the Google mail Web Page (the Mail apps does not seem to fussy and @googlemail.com seem interchangeable with @gmail.com in Mail)

    Hi,
"Safe" is a relative term here.
iChat, when you restart it will recreate them.
com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist (or the Jabber one) only hold the Login details and will force a fresh login to the relevant server.
com.apple.ichatAgent.plist This holds surprising little info.  Mainly it holds the info order for the iTunes is Playing script (Artist, Album and Track etc.).  It holds the default Idle time (and then of course if you are Idle)
As iChatAgent actually does the login is hold pointers to the other .plists.
com.apple.ichat.SubNet.plist  Holds the Bonjour info (or rather where to get it in the Address Book).
The Status Messages one does what it says.  It will hold all the Status Messages you have Created and decided to Keep.
com.apple.ichat.plist  This holds everything else.  Everything in the Preferences accept the Account Pane.
SOme of the Menu Items depending which window is Front.
Examples.  The Sort Order of your Buddy listt from the View Menu (when the Buddy List is "front". This can be a 2 pass setting (As in Avaible and Alphabetical). The capabilities shown in the Connection Doctor. (Video Menu).
It does hold a list of all the account you have in the Preferences  and some info is then pulled to Display the Accounts in the iChat Menu and the Buddy List windows in the Window Menu
Most important it holds the default or other Font you chose in Messages in the Preferences, whether that font is Coloured, the colour of the IM Background (Balloons or other style).  (Which Style form the View Menu > Messages). Whether you are saving transcripts of the Text Chats, and in iChat 5 what part of an old chat it displays.
If you were using Incoming Overrides you lose that setting.
All your Alerts settings both Globally set in Preferences > Alerts and those set in a Buddy's Info Card
    I could probably list more.
If you have a problem then it pays to tackle the .plist one at a time so that you know which one "Fixed" it.
Deleting them all in one go is often too heavy handed.
When I have a clear idea as to which one may be causing the issue I will list that one only.

  • Bytecode Instruction Set

    Hi,
I need some help with parsing Java bytecode instructions.
I can't figure out how many bytes each instruction uses.
For example, from reading the VMSpec http://java.sun.com/docs/books/vmspec/2nd-edition/html/Instructions2.doc.html
it seems that the instruction aaload takes no parameters (therefore is 1 byte long), right?
what about aload_<n> then? would that be the same length as aaload?
Any information on this would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ivan

I can't figure out how many bytes each instruction uses. There's a difference between the operands within the bytecode, and the operands the instruction takes off the stack.
The best clue is the "format" section in the VM Spec instruction list, as you have already referenced. Eg.
aload_<n> only lists the op code itself in the format section.
But anewarray lists the opcode and indexbyte1 & indexbyte2.
So there's another 2 bytes after the opcode.
I wrote a disassembler for myself... purely for the challenge.
You may want to create a "BaseInstruction" class, and extend it for every opcode, to allow it to parse its own data from the classfile.
You're also going to have fun with the "wide" instruction, which is a prefix that promotes those indices from 8 bit to 16 bit.....
    regards,
    Owen
