Icloud outlook, inactive application add-ins?

In Outlook 2013, Microsoft Office Add-Ins, I keep having problems with icloud outlook switching back to an inactive application.  I keep having to go back in and switch it back to an active add-in.  I hadn't had this problem until 3 weeks ago.  I'm not sure what was changed.  Is there a fix to this problem?

  • How do I sign my VB / VS 2010 based shared COM add-in for Excel so it loads when the user has checked "Require application add-ins to be signed by a trusted publisher"?

My COM add-in is developed using VS 2010 and VB. It's a shared COM add-in (not VSTO) and it works with Excel 2007 - 2013. My installer is signed with a code signing certificate but it would appear that my add-in's .dll should also be signed if the user has
checked the "Require application add-ins to be signed by a trusted publisher" option.
The "Sign the assembly" option is checked in my add-in's VB -> My Project -> Signing. I have a .snk file selected which I seem to recall generating 6 or 7 years ago when I ported the COM add-in from VB6 to .NET.
I have an up-to-date Comodo code signing certificate (a pfx file called MyCompanyCodeSigningCertificatePrivateKey.pfx) which I purchased to use with the installer and was wondering if and how I could use this.
I tried selecting my pfx file in the My Project -> Signing -> "Choose a strong name key file" dialog. It made a copy of the pfx file in my project folder but when I tried to build the project, I got the following error:
Error 1 Cannot import the following key file: MyCompanyCodeSigningCertificatePrivateKey.pfx. The key file may be password protected. To correct this, try to import the certificate again or manually install the certificate to the Strong Name CSP with the
    following key container name: VS_KEY_C0B6F251F0FB6016
After a little research, I found out I might be able to use signtool to sign the dll in a post-build step.
I added the following command to the post-build event, before the command I use to regasm the assembly.
    "path to signtool\signtool" sign /f "MyCompanyCodeSigningCertificatePrivateKey.pfx" /p "xxxx" /v "$(TargetPath)"
When I built the project, the dll appeared to get signed (the output window showed a bunch of confirming text as well as "Successfully signed: c:\MyAddIn\bin\Release\MyAddIn.dll") but the next step in the post-build (regasm myaddin.dll /codebase)
issued a warning RA0000 (see below) but reported "Types registered successfully".
Here's the message I get from regasm, even though the output window says the dll was sucessfully signed:
RegAsm : warning RA0000: Registering an unsigned assembly with /codebase can cause your assembly to interfere with other applications that may be installed on the same computer. The /codebase switch is intended to be used only with signed assemblies. Please give your assembly a strong name and re-register it.
    Types registered successfully
I'm not using a shim if that makes a difference.
How do I sign my add-in so it loads when the user has checked "Require application add-ins to be signed by a trusted publisher"?
    Any tips would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Why do you need to use the regasm utility from the post-build action?
There is a difference between signing the assembly with a strong name and digital signature. The
How to: Sign an Assembly with a Strong Name article in MSDN explains how to sign an assembly with a strong name (.snk). See
How to digitally sign a strong named assembly for adding a digital signature.

  • Window Vista Outlook Calendar Sync Add-ins disabled tips

If using Windows Vista and having trouble syncing calendar, follow Apple's instructions for disabling add-ins.... BUT ..... run Outlook as an Administrator. If you can't remove some of the add-ins running as an Admin will solve your problem.

Try this. Forgive me as I am not at my work computer but expericenced exactly the same problems.
Go to edit your email account and assuming you are using outlook 2003 since I don't 2007 you will need to find the dialog box that says something to the effect of send your information to your personal documents. It is a drop down menu within settings. You will then need to close outlook and open it again. Try syncing your iphone and this worked like a charm for me.
To sum it up your mail, contacts, and calendar entries are curetnly being stored on your work server. Iphone doesn't like that. When you tell outlook to store these items on your personal documents they then are stored on your hard drive and Iphone loves that. When I first tried doing this I noticed that I didn't have the option to send these items to my persnal files so if that is the case for you you will need to create it by clicking add and just pointing to personal files.
    I hope this helps.

  • ICloud Outlook add-in enabled but doesn't seem to be working.  Please help!

I know this has been addressed countless times before, but none of the 'fixes' apply to my situation.
I am unable to sync my iPhone 4s's contacts and calendar with Outlook 2010.  I am not getting any error messages explaining why this cannot be done, but rather "iCloud" does not show up in the Contacts and Calendar Navigation Panes in Outlook.  Here's my setup:
+Apple account is my gmail.com account
+In iPhone->Settings->iCloud, contacts, calendars, reminders, and bookmarks are all on
+Entries in contacts and calendar in my iPhone are seen when signed into icloud.com
+On my PC, in the iCloud Control Panel, "Contacts with Outlook" and "Calendars and Tasks with Outlook" are both checked when signed in with my gmail.com apple ID
+In the Mail Control Panel, my mail profile is set up with my gmail.com account as IMAP/SMTP.  This is the profile used when I open Outlook
+In Outlook->Options->Add-Ins, both the "iCloud Outlook Addin" and the "iTunes Outlook Addin" are included in the Active Application Add-ins
My understanding is that at this point, since my iPhone uploads to iCloud just fine, "Contacts with Outlook" and "Calendars and Tasks with Outlook" are checked in the iCloud Control Panel, the Outlook Add-in is active, and my Outlook e-mail profile uses my Apple ID, that I should see a button in the Outlook ribbon that says "Refresh iCloud" and I should see iCloud in the Navigation Pane.
I do not see the button nor do I see iCloud in the Navigation Pane, and I don't not know why.  Can anybody help?
Thank you very much for any help you can offer.

  • Icloud is not installing add in in outlook 2010 on PC

It used to work, then suddenly it disappeared.   I ran icloud control panel again, and it said it set up outlook, but then when I open outlook, the add in is not there.  Help?

OK< I got it.  For some reason, although I can still run the icloud control panel, when I looked in the programs list in control panel, the icloud was not in the list (lost registry?).   But I found a program called 'Apple Software Update'.  I ran that and it first told me there was an updated itune version and more importantly, it said there is a new software "icloud control panel version 2,1,1,'.   It is the same as I was running it but obviously it was not found or the version I have was corrupt.   So I clicked the box to download the 'icloud control panel' and allowed it to update to the new version of itunes as well (although I don't think it was needed).   Then I restarted the icloud control panel (after having to restart the computer), unchecked the 'mail, contacts, calendars & tasks with Outlook', hit Apply button, then checked it again and hit apply again.  Voila!  icloud set up the add ins again in my outlook and all was well after that.

  • My iphone calendar stopped syncing with outlook 7 thru the cloud. I clicked on tools, trust center, add ins. icloud add in had been disabled. I tried to re enable it but was told that this could only be done by administrator. I am the admin. Help????

My iphone calendar stopped syncing with outlook 7 thru the cloud. I clicked on outlook tools, trust center, add ins. I noted that icloud add in had been disabled. I tried to re enable it but got a message that this change could only be done by administrator. I am the administrator. Help???? Any ideas?

I do not believe this. I have been going nuts trying everything as in prior posts, and this has been a problem for users at least since 2010. I had this problem a long time ago and didn't pay too much attention to it because it was my iPad, and I depended on my BB a a base calander to feed Outlook. I became very concerned within the past week when I switched my BB to iPhone 5s, and was carrying both because I still needed to carry the BB for new calander enteries to sync up to Outlook 2007.
I had followed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 and delete the apple s/w and re-installed. But according to the previous post, it appears that the issue was in the data - which was not deleted during all these deinstalls nor overridden with the new installs.
I am a XP user, so my files are in documents and settings/(username) both application data and \local settings\application data, but I also have safari and quicktime installed as well and didn't want to just blow entire high level folders if I didn't have to.
So I followed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 then purged several apple folders in my windows profile and this definitely blew apple computer\preferences away. What I did was a little clumbsy, and desperate, but it worked. I am finally back in business.
However, I would like to see someone fine tune this and determine if it was just the preferences folder that needed to be deleted so that iTunes needed to rebuild it, or if there were other filoes that were apparently corrupted away, just to get this to the minimum number of steps to fix the issue.
BUT THANKS - This has been the most HELPFUL thread to get me syncing agai!!!!

  • Add-ins that are being set to Inactive

This pertains to Outlook 2013 in this particular case, but may apply to other 2013 products.
It's not just one add-in, but we have seen a few add-ins that go from a happy, Active add-in to a sad, unused Inactive add-in.
If I have a user who's add-in is getting disabled and they get prompted in their client with the "Add-in problem:  A problem was detected with an add-in and it has been disabled.  [View disabled add-ins...]" the solution is simple enough,
view those add-ins and if the one you are having trouble with is there, click the option to "Always enable this add-in"
The trouble I'm having is that not every user gets that prompt for some reason.  And we're seeing a few users who are losing their room finder because the Microsoft Exchange Add-in is being disabled.
So.. if I have a "good" user who gets the warning, it's a matter of enabling their add-in and restarting the client, when it disables it again they get the prompt and we just tell it not to disable.  The "bad" users however we enable
and restart and they never see the warning/option to always enable.  We can enable the add-in again, but for these select few, it keeps disabling them without saying a word.
I guess my 2 big questions are:
1- Why doesn't that option show up for everybody?  I'd like to be able to tell our support teams here to cue in on that prompt after enabling, but when it isn't there consistently it is not an effective solution.
2 - Where or how could I manually have that on the list of add-ins we never disable?  I have found a few mentions of the registry settings, but nothing I see in my registry leads me to believe it will be a simple "find the Microsoft Exchange Add-in"
setting and change the value X to Y and you are done.
I'd like to figure out where to point the user / support to toggle it on their own and I have seen mention of a button under File - that lets you see disabled add-ins, but I don't see that in my client (Outlook 2013 and I'm on the latest) and while a registry
fix might work, it's not very end user driven or ideal.. but I'd take that over nothing.

    Hi,
I'm not sure why the option doesn't show up for everybody, however, if you want to specify which add-ins are always enabled, we can use the Outlook Group Policy template (Outlk15.admx) to set the Group Policy option:
    List of managed add-ins.
    The policy is under:
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Outlook 2013\Miscellaneous
You will need to find the programmatic identifier (ProgID) for COM add-ins. To obtain the ProgID for an add-in, use Registry Editor on the client computer where the add-in is installed to locate key names under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
    or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins.

  • Icloud-Outlook-Add-in not loaded automatically

    Dear Support Community,
I've been using my Iphones together with my Win PC / Outlook for several months.
    No problems.
Since a few days, there's always the problem, that the "i-cloud-Outlook-Add-in" is not
loaded automatically, when I start Outlook.
    Manual activiation (via Options -> Add-In --> Com Add-in --> tick in the box at "i-Cloud ...")
    works perfect.
I've checked the registry entry "LoadBehaviour": 3 --> correct value, in my opinion.
Any ideas, how to get outlook to load the icloud add-in automatically at startup?
Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards

I just had a user call in with this exact same problem.  The steps that I took to resolve the issue are as follows:
    1.  Ran a repair on office installation and rebooted computer. (Not sure if this was nesary).
    2.  In Outlook go to File-Options-Add-Ins.  Below for Manage COM Add-ins click the Go button.
    3.  find iCloud add-in and check it off to enable it.  Click on OK until your back at outlook.
    4.  Close and relaunch outlook.  Go back to File-Options-Add-Ins and down at the Manage change the dropdown to "Disabled Items".
    5.  Choose the iCloud.dll checkbox and click on enable.
    6.  Close outlook and reopen.  You should now see the ribbon for iCloud sync.

  • ICloud v4.0.1 Add-in is being deactivated with every start of Outlook 2013 (32bit)

    Hi Everybody,
I have an issue with iCloud (4.0.1) Add-in, which is being deactivated with every start of Outlook. Every time I need to activate it manually. I have tried to re install the add-in few times already.
Is it possible to sync new version of iCloud with Outlook 2013?
    Regards,
    Mati

    Hi Mati,
So the iCloud add-in for Outlook does not load at Outlook startup.
Usually it will give you an alert while an add-in failed to load. Please check for this on
File>Options>Add-Ins or you might want to look in
Event Viewer for any related logs.
If you would like us to help analyze the logs, you can send the log file to this email account:
[email protected] and inform us here (the email subject should be the link of this thread).
I would also recommend signing out of iCloud Control Panel and signing back in, and see if issue persists.
Please have a try and feel free to post back with any findings.

It's recommended to download and install

  • Icloud outlook add-in not working in the last week

in the last week my icloud add-in to outlook 2010 stopped working. It simply wasn't working and I tried logging out of my control panel and back in. The outlook add-in now says that my username is wrong but it isn't. I seem to be able to log-in to the icloud control panel ok but the outlook add-in doesn't seem to be working. I think it might be linked to the introduction of IOS 7 and the update for icloud control pabnel to 3.0. Anyone have any ideas or fixes?

  • Manage Outlook Add-Ins Programatically

We publish Outlook in a Citrix XenApp environment. The installation is shared by users with different needs. One of our departments would like to make use of a vendor supplied Outlook Add-In, but that add-in is only relevant to members of that department,
and in fact will cause grief for non members as they will be prompted to log in to a system to which they have no access. I can enable or disable the add-in in question by manually going in to Outlook "Tools>Trust Center>Add-ins>Manage COM
Add-ins" by simply checking or unchecking a box. What I need to figure out is how to do this programatically by script (or possibly GPO) so that the add-in is enabled for members of the department in question and disabled for everyone else. So far I have had
no luck. I have compared the HKCU registry hive with the Add-In enabled and Disabled. There is one key that changes consistently when I do so, but changing that key programatically does not cause the add-in to become either enabled or disabled. What happens
when I check or uncheck the box? Where is that information stored? How can I manipulate it?

LoadBehavior only has an effect before Outlook is started. Changing it to 2 will set it to load on demand, to 3 is load on startup, 0 is don't show it. There are other settings but those are the important ones.
Outlook.Application.ComAddins.Item(<addinProgId>).Connect can be set to False to disconnect the addin after Outlook startup, where <addinProgId>.is the ProgID for the addin.
You can iterate the ComAddins collection to find the correct ProgId string to use in a script. The ProgId property is exposed in the Office.ComAddins.ComAddin object.

  • Cannot send email from Outlook 2010 without disabling iCloud Outlook Add-in

I have seen a few discussions on this but no answers. I have bought a new PC. Installed Outlook 2010 and iCloud latest version 3. All seems to work fine but emails go into the Outbox and dont get any further. If I remove the iCloud Outlook Add-in then I can send my emails but of course now cannot see my contacts nor my calendar! So it's one or the other and I'm currently going backwards and forwards between each. I have uninstalled and gone back to an earlier version 2 of iCloud with no success, same problem. I have uninstalled that and now reinstalled version 3. The problem remains. Can you advise on how to solve this please?

Then it has nothing to do with iCloud, contact Bell and if they can't help, Microsoft
