Icloud why wont my total storage adjust in icloud even though i have deleted most of my photo files

iCloud would not backup my ipad 2 as I my icloud storage was reading full. I now have reduced my photo files to 3 GB on my ipad, in fact it is 18 GB smaller, backed it up on my computer etc.  I was expecting my icloud manage storage to alter accordingly and then backup my ipad but it did not.  What should I do. Delete the backup and do it again?

Apps are not part of the backup. In app data is, but backing up the apps would be redundant as they can be re-downloaded from the store for free. Media (music, movies, podcasts, etc.) are also not part of the backup for the same reason.
iCloud: iCloud storage and backup overview
What iCloud backs up
You have important information on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iCloud automatically backs up your device over Wi-Fi every day while it’s turned on, locked, and connected to a power source. With your device information backed up in iCloud, you can easily set up a new device or restore information on one you already have.
Here’s what iCloud backs up:
Purchase history for music, movies, TV shows, apps, and booksYour iCloud backup includes information about the content you have purchased, but not the purchased content itself. When you restore from an iCloud backup, your purchased content is automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. Some types of content aren’t downloaded automatically in all countries, and previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the store. For more information, see the Apple Support article iTunes in the Cloud availability by country. Some types of content aren’t available in all countries. For more information, see the Apple Support article What can I buy from the iTunes Store in my country?.
Photos and videos on your iOS devices
Device settings
App data
Home screen and app organization
iMessage, text (SMS), and MMS messages
Ringtones
Visual Voicemail
Your iOS device backup only includes data and settings stored on your device.
It doesn’t include data already stored in iCloud, for example contacts, calendars, bookmarks, mail messages, notes, shared photo albums, iCloud Photo Library beta, My Photo Stream, and documents you save in iCloud using iOS apps and Mac apps.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

I have an iphone 3GS and suddenly am getting a "storage almost full message" even though I have 1.4 GB of free space. Now I cannot text.  How do I trouble shoot this? I recently upgraded to version 6.1.3 if that helps.

When you sync using iTunes on your computer, do you see a lot of "Other" at the bottom of the iTunes Summary Page for your iPhone?  If you do, try a "Restore iPhone ...".  That should help.
Hopefully that would do it for you.  If not, the next (more drastic) step would be to restore again as above, but choose "Restore as New" and then manually sync.  Omit any apps that might be suspcious in their space use (primarily Game Center apps).

    Hi..
Nothing to be concerned about. The download is available if you want to download Lion again to create an install disc or re download Lion on any other authorized Macs you have for free using the same Apple ID.

  • Why is my new music staying on my iPad and not going into my iCloud even though I have it set up to do so?

I have gone through all the tutorials to get iCloud to back up my music for iTunes, but it still shows I have 5.0GB available (even though I have purchased more), and when I go to "backup" it acts like it's going to do it, but doesn't. I now need to update my iOS but can't because there's not enough storage on my iPad, a bit of a Catch 22. Can anyone help me figure out why my music isn't going to the cloud? Thanks!

iCloud doesn't back up your music as part of your iCloud backup.  iCloud only includes music in two ways.  First, it allows you to redownload previously purchased music for free from iTunes (called "iTunes in the cloud").  Second, if you subscribe to iTunes Match on your computer, you iTunes library (up to 25,000 songs) will be available to download and play on your device anywhere you have a connection to the internet ( see http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/).

  • How do I get the iPad to continue to back up using the 5G free iCloud when it tells me it cannot back up anymore even though I have deleted almost everything from my iPad?

The iPad keeps telling me that there is no more room to backup. I have deleted almost everything from my iPad and yet I still get the same message.....cannot back up. I do NOT want to purchase more G's as I regularly download all important photos, videos, notes and such onto my iMac. I would like to keep to the free 5 G's iCloud space. Shall I also delete apps that I don't use much, magazines even though there are not any active issue on my iPad?
Thanks for any help you can give.

No, you did not have to delete anything.
You don't understand how iCloud works
ICloud does NOT backup anything purchased from iTunes (music, apps, movies, podcasts)
ICloud only backs up your personal data.
Camera roll, contacts, documents, app data and personal information and settings
This is how your manage your iCloud account:
    1.    Transfer your pictures and video from camera roll to your computer, Dropbox, or Box for iOS .   These are free apps for iPad and Mac and provide online storage for your photos and documents.
Once your pictures are safely stored.....
    2.   Go to settings
    iCloud
    Storage and backup
    Manage storage
(Choose your device if you have more than one)
    Show all apps
Now go down the list and turn off switch for camera roll and any other app that you do not need to save data for.
Apps are listed with the largest first.
If you have several devices sharing iCloud (as I do) you may want to only backup the important device and important app data.

  • Does anyone know why only one of my two daughters' phone can be located on iCloud even though both have turned on their find my iPhones?

To be tracked the phone has to be turned on and connected to the Internet.

  • Why do I get startup disk full error even though I have 2 gb free?

My startup disk is getting full (I get error message) after 1 day of usage.
In the finder, after a restart, it says I have 2.05 GB available.
Then after working for a while (yes, I keep a few apps open - usually Entourage, Word, Firefox, iTunes -- but c'mon, I have 1 GB of RAM) I get an error that my startup disk is full.
This is my Terminal Log after getting the error:

    Any suggestions?

That isn't much hard drive space open. I have heard 10% should be free, so if you have an 80 GB drive you need 8 GB free; if you have 100, 10 free and so on. Even if the figure is 5% you are still too low.
Your error message said you had 267438 pageouts to the disk which seems huge. That means your physical RAM can't keep up and is sending out data to the hard disk which is virtual memory, not real RAM memory. I don't know enough about it to say for sure but that seems like a recipe for this kind of trouble.

  • I have a Mac PC OSx, version 10.5 and cannot get Icloud even though I have downloaded all new software?     gh I have downloaded all available software.

I have a Mac PC, OS X, 10.5.8  Version but cannot download ICloud and I was led to believe this version supports it.  I have downloaded all available software.  Does anyone have suggestions?  Just realized I need later version - - 10.7.5 or later.  How do I go about upgrading this operatin system?

10.7 is no longer avaiable for immediate download. You need to purchase a download code, which will be delived by email in 1 to 3 business days. Using that code, you can download the software from the Mac App Store, and it will stay available for re-download from that Apple-ID.

To get the Mac App Store, you need to purchase a Snow Leopard 10.6 Installer/Utilities DVD. This physical DVD will be shipped to you by conventional means. The software can be Installed and re-installed from the DVD.

  • TS1398 My iPad won't backup to iCloud even though I have plugged into power, locked it and other devices all are OK on our wi fi.  I can't get rid of the box that tells me to backup the iPad to iCloud to access anything else in the iPad.  Help?

When I try to use my iPad I get a message that says my iPad has not been backed-up for 2 weeks.  I've plugged it in, locked it and wi fi is working with other devices but I can't get passed that message.  I've tried turning the iPad off but even then I can't slide the bar to turn it off.  Any suggestions?

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Why does my Galaxy s4 wifi turn on even though I have unchecked auto connect? (This happened starting with the latest software update).

I also have wifi-matic app which should keep this from happening, but stopped doing so with the upgrade.

Check sleep mode to be sure Wi-fi is off. Shut down your wifi matic app, clear system cache and do a soft reset of your device. power phone on and reset your personal settings. go into Wi-fi and do your setup again.

  • Why am I still unable to open videos even though I have installed the most updated version of Flashplayer?

I have an IMAC using Safari version 5.1.10.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled flashplayer 5 times now.  I am still getting an error message "blocked plug-in" when I try to launch a video.
I never had this issue before when installing an updated version of flashplayer

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

  • Why do I keep getting a storage full message after deleting most of my photo app, on 16gb iPhone6

    Hey,
I just purchased the new iPhone 6 16GB.upgrade jump T-mobile not paid in full $700.Nevertheless, why do I keeping getting a message about storage full? And it says...Go to setting and manage storage with iCloud. I have deleted most of the app, photo, and just about everything else, and still keep getting this message. It's almost as if I will be paying additional 3.99-19.99 a month to manage the icloud for apps that I already had. Perhaps this is the gimmicks to order the 64GB iPhone 6. In fact, the 64GB is offered as an upgrade to new or additional line customers. Come On give us a break for the loyal customers Geezh!!
Plus can't even upgrade software update to iOS8.1.1 because there is not enough storage. What sense does that make to even upgrade to the new iPhone 6???? Hurry up and fix this problem!

Purchasing iCloud storage will not help your issue. Also, if you want to upgrade, do it via iTunes rather than OTA - it doesn't require as much available storage to do it that way.
To check to see what is taking up so much of your storage, go to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage, and you will see a list of the items on your device and the amount of storage they are taking up.
T-mobile's offer of the 64GB iPhone 6 to new or additional line customers has nothing to do with Apple. You need to take that up with T-mobile.
    Cheers,
    GB
