Icon display problem in web form

Hello,
I am running form through browser. i have converted all my ico files to gif. but icon on the button in web form is not rightly positioned and not clearly displayed as it was in client/server(ico file).
please help me out.

Hi,
it may be that Forms requires your buttons to be a bit bigger in size after converting .ico file to .gif. However, the icons are referenced by a URL link and therefore shouldn't be of a lower quality. At least it should have the same display quality as it has when opening teh gif in a Browser.

Weird icon display problem (9iAS Forms 9.0.4)

Let me start out with the fact that I have setup 6 or 7 systems displaying GIF's as icons in web forms (both Forms 6i and Forms 10g/9.0.4). So I know all about setting the registry.dat, virtual directory for the icons etc. I have setup the environment correctly (unless some fat finger typing has gotten in the way).
When I load a form in a web browser and I watch the status bar on the bottom of the broweser ( IE6 or IE7) I can see that it loads the GIF's (fortunately my server is just slow enought that I see the "loading .....xyz.gif" statements for my GIF icons.
What happens is that none of the icons display on the buttons. Of course when I run the form in the IDE the icons display as expected.
Has anyone run into this problem before and if what was the solution?

1. The image files cannot be found or are not accessible. Just because you see something on the client that says "Loading..." does not necessarily mean it was found. Check the HTTP Server error_log. If you see HTTP 404 errors you have an access or virtual path problem.
Answer: No HTTP 404 Errors (no errors at all). FYI, Files are located in D:\icons (W2K server) and the Security is set to "Everyone" with Full Access/Control. The AS has "D:\icons" mapped to /icons and Registry.dat has the path set to /icons.
2. You are using an image format that isn't supported. For example, Forms supports GIF files, but not GIF files with transparent backgrounds. Also, Forms does not support most of the compression formats associated with GIF and JPG. Test with an image that you know will work. For example the OTN Logo on this page. Right click on the image and choose Save Picture As.... or:
http://www.oracle.com/admin/images/otn/otn_logo_small.gif
Actually, you should be able to simply put the entire URL above into the image filename field on the Property Palette for any Iconic button large enough to hold it.
I pretty sure this works in 10.1.2, not so sure about 904
Answer: You'll probably say this is not good enough, but the images work in the IDE, therefore I conclude that they should work on the AS (i.e. size and display type are correct/supported). I did not have a button that was big enough for the Oracle logo, hence I did not try it.
3. The image size is too large for the button.

4. References to images are case sensitive. It is recommended that your image files (in the file system) use all lower case letters, including the extension. The reference in the form should also be lower case.
Answer: all image names in the property pallet are lower case and the actual file names are lower case (as shown in Windows Explorer).
With regard to the other post about icon names ending a list of specific characters, some do and some don't, but ALL my icons are NOT displaying.
Lastly, these exact same icons have worked in the past (who does not reuse icons?).

Problem Transporting Web Forms

Hi Experts,
I have been trying to export the custom web forms from POC server to Dev server. But then i'm not able to find the web form in the target server..
For exporting i followed this method..
Content Administration  KM Content  Export  Pending Exports in the portal... n then i include the xml, xsl and even the whole of wpcconfig folder in the package .
And on importing i fnd the xml and xsl file in the styles and types folder of 'etc'.. but then i do not find the web form .
Can somebody please help me in this matter.

I exported all the config changes that i had made while creating the web forms . But when i import the config changes on the tranget system .. it says.. there are errors..

Font problem in web forms

hi friends,
we have some company specific true type font which display the company logo. this font is displayed properly in client server mode but when the form is run in web environment it gets mapped to some other font.also the same font is displayed properly in the reports running on web.
I have tried changing the registry.dat and font.properties file but it didn't help. can anybody guide me how exactly i should add new fonts to these files.

I also face similar problem when moving from AS9i to AS10g.
Using Report10.1.2.0.2. The paper design and PDF generated from report builder looks fine.

Key mapping problem for web forms !!!

I have implemented forms 6 on the web using OAS 4.0.7 on WinNT SP 3 workstation. I have modified FMRWEB.RES file for activating F9 - LOV. We have a customized toolbar for our application. There are also shortcut keys defined for the same. For example, if the user presses ALT+S, then 'Save' button gets pressed. But when i run the form on the web, if the focus is on any list box, and if the user presses 'S', then 'Save' button gets pressed. I figured that if i deactivate 'ALT+S' key on the web, then it will work. How can i make the changes in FMRWEB.RES file ??

Style display problem in Web Interface Builder (OWC)

Hi,
I wanted to create my own styles for my BPS Planning Layouts and then
use it in the Web Interface Builder on Office Web Components.
Step 1 : I saved a Planning Layout in my hard disk.
Step 2 : I created my styles as explained in the SEM BPS help notes (->
Format, Styles ) and saved it in Excel.
Step 3 : I used UPP_MASTER_CHECKIN in tn se38 and then
UPP_LAYOUTS_UPDATE_WITH_MASTER in order to apply the master template in
all my layouts.
Step 4 : I put my styles in all my layouts in the BPS0 (for Lead
Columns, Head Datas and Data Columns).
Step 5 : Once I generated my layouts in the BPS0, the result was what I
expected : the styles were right and at the good place. I checked
publish for the WEB for all the layouts that needed it.
Step 6 : I created a Web Interface with BPS_WB using my layouts as
Office Web Components (Web Excel : true)
Step 7 : I generate my Web Page
And when I look at my layouts the styles disappeared....
However if I modify the Standard Styles (SEM-BPS-headata or SEM-BPS-
sub1 for example)and put them in my layouts then it works !!!! The
modified styles appear in the Web Interface Builder.
I do not understand why it works with the standard styles and not if I
create and put my own. Did I something wrong or missed a step or is a problem with SEM BPS ????

How to troubleshoot Image display problems in (web) ReportViewer?

I have a simple CR 2008 report being hosted in an ASP.Net application. I am developing that in VS2008. Everything is fine other that me not being able to make images show up in the web report viewer.
Here's the process I used:
- Used "Insert->Picture" in CR 2008 Report designer to place a jpg file. Previewed the report. Everything fine.
- Ran the report in Debug mode in Visual Studio. Everthing in the report shows other than the image. The default red cross box is shown which is an indication that the image could not be found on the server.
- Used Export to PDF from the Report Viewer. The report and the included image show properly in PDF.
Checked the URL for the missing image. It's something like (I had to edit it):

Checked the web.config, versions and everything checks out:

It could be another custom handler you added to your web.config. I've seen someone add a handler for *.aspx ahead of the CrystalImageHandler.aspx which caused issues. You'll also want to see if your temp image files (.png) are being written/read correctly.
Unfortunately you are using the personal web server that comes with Visual Studio .NET 2008 (file based web apps). It isn't easy to troubleshoot because you can see any of the IIS logs. If you convert this to an actual web site hosted in IIS you could at least look at your IIS HTTP logs and see if there are any errors there.
You are on the right track. It is likely something with that image handler, or the temp files are not being written/read correctly. Process Monitor from Microsoft may help here as well.

WEB Forms do not display properly with windows 95 LARGE fonts desktop setting

Hi,
We are using WEB forms 6.0 patch level 6 (We tried 6i but had too many bugs with it, we prefer to wait until at least a couple of patches are out, installation was a VERY painful experience for us)
We still have the following problem with WEB FORMS deployed on win95 desktops with LARGE FONTS destktop settings: The forms are not displayed correctly, sometimes there are no scroll bars, resizing a window gives weird results, part of the forms become inaccesible, some forms are blank, etc...
Can you verify or confirm that you have the same kind of problems ? We use jinitiator 1.1.18.
Is it fixed with 6i ? Is it fixed wit jinit 1.1.27 ?
We develop in smal fonts on win95 and recompile under solaris before deploying.

Thank you all for your fast asnwers. The "Use hardware acceleration when available" was the problem, I disabled it and I will post a message on my site about this.
The site is on-line in the same aspect since 2005, modifiyng the whole site to fit with Firefox11's default setting is not a good option. At that moment, placing a tabel (alligned to the center of the page) and puting in it the thumbnails with links generated by ExpressThumbnailCreator, than manually adding the description in the HTML view of FrontPage was the simplyest way possible to make the site appear properly on my 800*600 px resolution I used then. Of course, I upgraded my hardware and software since then, but the site remained mostly unchanged (except the index and a few files). I know it's time for a new version of the site but... my web-design knowledges are limited to basic HTML.

Ar8iso8859p6 problems on web

I have a problem with ar8iso8859p6 on forms10g, my database is ISOp6 and my client NLS_LANG is also ar8iso8859p6, when i query the data from sqlplus or toad i can see the arabic characters correctly, but when i run my forms on the web the characters is corrupted, aslo its vise versa when i enter the arabic characters from the web it's entered correctly and i can see it on the web correctly, but when i query it from sqllplus or toad i see it corrupted, is there special encoding from the web browser it self , or what is exaclty the problem ??

Use Icons under Oracle_home/forms60/java/oracle/forms/handler/icons/
These icons are good on web forms I didn't face any problems with these icons.
Fonts:
Times New Roman is not that bad .
I don't have any alignment problems but I have another problm here I am giving an example:
Problem : When Iam trying to signon to the system by mistake if I type the wrong passowrd it gives an error message like "Username or Passord not Correct" after that if I enter the correct password also it wont respond .Now Ihave to close the whole application and I have to reopen it.Same thing with all the forms . Iam using "Raise form_trigger_failure" exception along with the error message.
It was working fine in Client Server environment.
Please let me know if you have any ideas

Web forms mouse navigation

Hello all
I'm running forms 6i. I have a problem with web forms not
allowing focus to a text field when using the mouse to click on
the text field.
if i call form individual like this
http://myhost:myport/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?
form=formname.fmx&config=smstest.dat
it will work fine. But if call this form from push button in the
othor form the mouse navigater did not work. All forms work fine
in client server mode.

Problem with the icon "Display query on the web" in Query Designer

Hi Friends,
         I was told by my PM to give them all FI Modules standard business contenet reports, so for that reason i have installed all FI business content & loaded the data in the Dev Server, now i just want to show the reports, but i want excute these reports in Internet Explorer using the Icon "Display Query on the WEB" in query designer, when i click on that it isn't getting displayed in the browser.

Balaji,
first check if you have enabled web reporting on your BW server ( there is a how to paper for the same )
another way to check out the same is to find out if there are existing web templates being published which would make the server web ready.
As for FI content - activate the FI relevant areas in Business content and then activate the respective datasources and then load the data.. or go trough the best practices for BW-FI ( service.sap.com/bestpractices) wnd then activate the best practices for the same.

Router Setup Web form display problem

When I open Internet Explorer 6 to my router setup page (192.168.1.1), the menus and control discriptions are missing. Internet explorer reports an error with processing some of the web scripts. I'm using: WRT54G V8. I have tried reseting the router but it does not fix the problem. I have tried using the Opera Browser but it has the same problem. Unfortunately, I can't attach a screen capture to this post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, mm

I did some playing around and found that in "Save Mode" the setup web form displays properly. So I upgraded the router firmware in Save Mode, rebooted and now the setup form displays fine in regular mode. I should note that I also re-installed ZoneAlarms (firewall application). Thanks, mm

Icons in JAR file did not appear on runing web form

I am testing web application built using Forms6i with path 9. I configured the form server to run as a servlet and I put all the icons used in the application in JAR file I name it ICONS.JAR, I put this file in \FORMS60\JAVA\ directory.
I made the following configurations:
In Apache listner configuration file httpd.conf :
Alias /forms60java/ "D:\orant\forms60\java\/"
In forms confuguration file formsweb.cfg:
imageBase=CodeBase
archive=icons.jar
serverApp=Default
in registry.dat file:
default.icons.iconpath=
default.icons.iconextension=gif
In base HTML file:

The forms are run with nao problem except that the icons do not appear. I see java console on the client machine, and I see that ICONS.JAR was downloaded and saved in jar cache.
In Apache access log file I see that there is an attempt to load the icons from the path <server_name>/forms60java/icon_name.gif but not from the archived JAR file.
What could be goes wrong or missing?

Hi Amin,
Maybe the icons.jar file doesn't contain the files (try opening it with WinZip or some other tool and verify the files are indeed there).
Maybe some case sensitivity issues are at play?
Or the GIF files are the wrong size so maybe you're only seeing the transparent upper left corner of alle the icons displayed on your iconic buttons or whatever.
Just a couple of wild shots (cause it doesn't appear you're having errors - but check all your log files including error_log)

PDF form problem in web dynpro

Hello Everybody,
I have some problem with PDF form in web dynpro application.
I have used T layout view set. On top view i put one image. On left view i have tree element. On right side i have all other elements.
Right side, different views are displayed depending upon the option chosen from tree. But, when I opened view containing Adobe form and then try to choose any other options, Internet browser gives system error and browser closed.

What should be the version of ACF.
I have installed ACF SP11.
My WAS server is SP12.
Acrobat reader version is 7.0.5.
But if i change Acrobat reader version to 6.0.3 then it works. But i want version 7.0.5 for date popup.

How to retain focus in Web forms 6i item when displaying pdf image in a multi-record block?
Hello.
I have a Web Forms 6i program (version Forms 6.0.8.19.2) running in a 3-tier application. The web form program has a multi-record block containing invoices. When navigating to a record, the form should display the PDF invoice image which is stored in an Oracle 8.1.7 database as a BLOB in another window. When user press down-arrow, the next PDF invoice image should be displayed.
I am able to accomplish the functionality above by using web.show_document('URL', target') in the when-new-record-instance. The URL being called is a PL/SQL Web Toolkit stored procedure using wpg_docload.download_file built-in.
The problem is that the focus is lost on the Webform and the focus is shifted to the PDF image window when you navigate to the next record using down-arrow. I want to retain the focus in the form as this is a data-entry form, the operator will use down-arrow to go to the next-record rather than the mouse. I also only want to do this for this Invoice Entry form and NOT to all forms.
Please advise how to resolve this problem. Thank you.

the issue of a SSO protected form showing the logon dialog is a knwon issue for Windows200 and the Oracle9iAS base release. If you applied Forms Patch 1 then this should be solved. Hope that I am right in that you are using Oracle9iAS and not Oracle9iDS. Do you see the Single Sign-On logon screen or the Forms logon dialog directly? Check the forms90.conf file in teh forms90/server directory as this contains the Form sso settings (mod_osso) which by default is commented out and therefore inactive. You need to remove the commenting '#' characters and make sure that each sentence having a '#' in front, after that starts on a new line.
