Iconify..do i dare?

I made a splash screen..how can i make that splash screen go to the task bar?
i know this can be done..there is always an answer for everything >:)
thanks guys have a good night

What are you using right now, my guess is JWindow, right? Anyway, in 1.4 I know that you can use JFrame and call setUndecorated(true); to remove the titlebar. Then all you do is call setState(Frame.ICONIFIED), or now setExtendedState(Frame.ICONIFIED).

    How do I enter music from MacBook to 2 GB memory card in my LG Dare? I formatted the SanDisk memory card to the phone and connected phone to MacBook. How do I get music from iTunes on my MacBook to disk on my Dare?

    Look in the Finder's sidebar or on the desktop. If the manufacturer only allows its own software to connect to the card, consult its documentation.

    Tanya --
    Next time you have a question, don't start off with a dare.  It's very off-putting.  And tends to make people mad.
    That said --
    Your App Store app should be in your main Applications folder, i.e.,
    Hard Drive > Applications folder > App Store.
    Yours is here:
    Hard Drive >Users > YourName > Applications Folder > App Store.
    It automatically installs in the HD>Apps folder, so I think somebody moved it.
    Fix that, and then we'll see if you still have problems, OK?

  • Any hope for syncing a "LG Dare" (Verizon)

    Well as i'm sure many of you have seen the new "3G iPhone Competitor" will be released on verizon this week. any hope for syncing with iCal and or Contacts?
    Please don't rip on me for this I just cannot afford a plan on ATT.

    This is great... I got my music on my dare even under the "My Music" Folder on the phone using the method above (Bluetooth Exchange)....
    one problem...
    theres no way to get it off after you do that.... if you try to delete songs off your phone via Bluetooth Exchange it says "Last Operation Failed Bad Request..."
    and of course theres no way to delete them from the phone... that would be too simple (thanks LG)
    and since I have a mac....
    i cant use the verizon sync program to get them off...
    so for now i only have 4 songs on my Dare... but they are on my internal memory... perhaps... eternally.
    Please reply if you have any advice...
    maybe i missed something ...

  • Graphics render bug in FCP 6 and 7 - Dare to prove me wrong?

    I have an issue with an HD video that contains red and purple text and graphics in the edit. I've looked for an answer tirelessly online, with friends, and through trial and error for a good 7 hours before giving up. Here's the deal,
    Sequence settings: HD 1440x1080 16:9, 23.98, HDV 1080p24 for editing the canon7d footage that came in - this however doesn't matter because i tested with every setting imaginable including animation raw and ended up with the same results for the graphics problem I'm having (kind of unrelated to the actual footage).
    I need to output this 9 minute edit I have to an HD file 1280x720 for youtube upload. So, it has to be under 2gb (youtube's limit) but for client purposes, it needs to be crisp and great looking as you would imagine.
    I have a bunch of PSDs, each show a different line drawing of a brush. For each one, the line is a different color. For any of the colors that aren't red or purple, they render crisp and wonderful in final cut pro over top the video. However, the graphics that have the lines that are red or purple, come out pixelated and blurry no matter how i try to render them. The only solution that worked was to render and output them with the animation codec. ProRes HQ worked too but not as well. However, this makes a file way too big. Whenever I went from animation to h264 or from FCP to h264, or any other web friendly format, graphics come out way pixelated. It makes me frustrated as to why all the graphics that were exactly the same except not red or purple came out perfectly crisp. Also, why is animation codec the only codec out there (besides uncompressed obviously) that will create clean edges in these red/purple graphics?
    Conclusion: Found that reds and purples are the only colors that seem to be effected when rendering the graphics. Everything else comes out nicely. Animation and pro res codecs aside, any codec making the video small enough for the web (less than 2gb) resulted in the problem of pixelation with the red and purple graphics. Based on extensive research I did online, I was surprised not to find many people posting about the exact same problem. For the issues I did find that seemed related, people concurred that HD nor regular DV video do a good job rendering bright reds or variations of red. Because I found no solutions online or from all the things I tried in the list below
    -re-rendered the PSD's in Final cut pro with variation of sequence setting to see if that would make any difference - it didn't. Tried all kinds of different settings in export for h264, keyframes, max quality, etc. no luck.
    -tried rendering to "Animation/uncompressed" as far through the process as possible. For instance, I outputted a perfectly crisp "Animation" file that was perfect looking. As soon as I re-exported to h264, mpeg4, or sorenson, or any other codec dropping the file size down, all results returned pixelated results for the reds and purple graphics.
    -made sure photoshop settings were all good, even copied and pasted psd into new 1920x1080 project, played with DPI up to 300 to see if it did anything, saved as different formats TIFF, png, eps, layers, flattened, 8-bit, 24-bit, 36-bit, etc., none of the formats worked correctly.
    -outputted my own purple and red graphics and text and rendered in final cut to see if the file had anything to do with it. same problem with my red and purple graphics and text.
    -Tried adding slight moving grain to the graphic in Final cut to try and trick FCP to thinking it was a video instead of a graphic and therefore render it smoothly.
    -consulted with 2 other video editors/media experts, ended up frustrating them as well (and hurting their ego a little since they were sure they could figure it out)
    -Ran the shot and graphic through after effects and premiere pro separately (different video programs) to see if final cut pro was causing the problem, same problem with those programs.
    -tried rendering on a different mac, still the same.
    -Actually upgraded my final cut pro version to the new version (now Final cut studio 3). Ran tests on new version of final cut pro, same exact problem.
    -added black edge to purple graphics to see if that did anything different to the rendering. Didn't help
    -Changed the hue of the graphic to anything other than red or purple. Wouldn't you know...That fixed it.
    Here is a link to the Animation Output of a half second of the edit with a sample red graphic crisp as can be for you to test (12.7mb) -
    http://www.robinsonhope.com/downloads/makeup_animationtest.zip
    Here is a link to view screenshots before and after to show you what rendering does to the graphics.
    http://www.robinsonhope.com/downloads/makeup_ss.jpg
    In case you'd like to try and find a solution, please download the link to the HD animation half-second clip and output to h264 or any other web friendly codec that would show these red graphics clean and not blurry and pixelated. Other rule is after doing the math, a 9 minute video with the compression you choose would need to be under 2gb. This shouldn't be too much of a problem because even a 1280x720 h264 at max quality for a 9min video is still under 2gb.
    The first person to show me that you are truly a FCP guru and can solve this, post a link of your successful solution, I will praise you as genius all over this forum. I will also be eternally grateful. Live in LA? I'll also buy you dinner, Haha. But seriously...

    Welcome to this forum,
    Sorry to hear you so struggling with this issue.
    And I doubt whether I can solve this for you, but I can say a few things.
    The title of this thread is:
    Graphics render bug in FCP 6 and 7 - Dare to prove me wrong?
    I'll prove you are wrong. Or actually you've already proved yourself wrong in your post:
    -Ran the shot and graphic through after effects and premiere pro separately (different video programs) to see if final cut pro was causing the problem, same problem with those programs.
    Seams that I try to annoy you, but I'm not. It's not a joke. The fact that other applications can't handle it as well AND the fact that Animation Codec (Which is pretty lostless) does not have this problem, tells you that the problem is likely the low compression you want OR the footage itself. And I dare say it's BOTH.
    I downloaded your testfile and have opened it in FCP and I can see in the Vectorscope that your color Red is too hot.
    [Click here|http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz356/rienkL/Screenshot2010-04-02at1324 20.png] to see the vectorscope of your picture?
    You also see the small boxes (clockwise)
    Red, Magenta, Blue, Cyan, Green, Yellow. The signal of your picture should stay somewhere between those boxes. You should read [this article|http://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/lj_scopes.html] (two third on the page) about the vectorscope. Also has a picture with the range to be broadcast safe.
    So back to your picture and your vectorscope. You'll see that just along the right side of the R in the vectorscope there's a peak which goes way out of the range. And that's exactly the color of your graphic.
    I tried isolating that color, reducing the saturation, and then do an export, but that failed. You should adjust that within the PSD's first and then see how exporting goes.
    So now you are thinking: My client wants his own colors! Sure he does. But those colors were probably designed for print, which does have another colorrange. Simple technical story. You're bound to specific saturation. Going over that means troubles....
    And I'm not claiming that your problem will be solved when you adjust this. It is still possible that h264 just doesn't like red too much. Maybe that's on purpose. Our eyes are most less sensitive to red, so that gives the compressor some extra room to compress in the reds (Don't know if this is what compression developers do; just thinking out loud, just an idea...)
    Hope this helps at least a little.
    Rienk

    If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
    If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
    As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.

    Verizon is using the Elipsis tablets to steal data from their customers.  The only way to stop data from registering as cellular data is to pull the SIM card.  This occurs with wifi enabled and cellular,dara disabled.  If,you take your tablet to a Verizonstore they will upgrade your data plan to cover the overage and credit the upgrade.  You will then have to remember to downgrade your plan or continue to pay for more data.  Verizon, how would you feel if I walked into one of your stores and started filling my pockets with merchandise?  If cought can I just give the product back and say "oops, sorry"

    Today, my FCC complaint hit the same person working on the BBB complaint.  Jimmie has been very nice and seems willing to work with this problem.  We have been able to come to an agreement.  I paid the purchase price for the phone and he returned my upgrade and unlimited data plan.  This is what would have occurred if Verizon had given me correct information to begin with.  I am happy with this result.  He also brought quite a few instances concerning the handling of my transfer and upgrade that did not follow proper procedure.  I am also confident that I would not have resolved this without complaining to BBB and or FCC.  Verizon had no interest in solving the problem nor did they show any propensity to keeping a 20 year client.  Even though this last CSR was very polite and helpful, his sole job is to respond to formal Federal and State complaints.  He is required by law to address every complaint and report the reporting agency the agreed upon results - good or bad.  Again, I suggest - If you are not getting the proper customer service, complain to someone outside of Verizon.  Jimmie had not received any complaints registered with Verizon directly and I still have not had any contact with any other management representative that I was told would call.

    Hello everybody,
    I have a problem with a strange behaviour of a JFrame.

    1. I initialize a JFrame with a JSplitPane
    2. The left component is a JPanel containing 64 JLabels, each with an Icon in it.
    When the frame is coming up, everything is displayed proper. But when I iconify the frame and deiconify later nothing is to see, but a blank frame. The labels will be redisplayed after clicking on the position, where the splitpane-divider should be.
    I'm using jdk1.4
    Can anybody helpme?
    Thanks

    hi,
    hope you've used the frame's getContentPane() method for adding the splitpane, if yes, then that might be some kind of a bug, anyways, add a window listener overriding the windowDeiconified(WindowEvent) method & call the frame's repaint() method,
    hope this helps you,
    reagrds,
    Afroze.

  • How do I transfer my pics and videos to my I-tunes account from my LG Dare?

    How do I transfer my pics and videos to my I-tunes account from my LG Dare?

    Downloading previously purchsed music from iCloud is based on your iTunes ID, not your iCloud ID.  (It uses "iTunes in the Cloud", which has nothing to do with your iCloud account, just your iTunes ID.)
    If you are using a different iTunes ID on your iOS devices than the one you used to purchase the music, you'll have to sync the music to your devices using iTunes.  If they are using the same iTunes ID, you can download the music to your devices as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.

  • Dare to update a running 5.0 to 5.0.1?

    Hi Everybody,
    I finally made it to have a running iTunes 5.0 even though it occupies about 100 MB RAM and burning is very, very slow! Also I have changed language settings (now back to english). Would you dare to update to 5.0.1 or would I be better off, waiting? Had some issues in installing 5.0 which differed from everything I have read so far: conflicts with a HP printer software I had to uninstall prior to iTunes 5.0 installation.
    Many thanks and best regards

    hi Roman!

  • JFrame (extended) state, iconified/maximized/normal question

    Greetings and salutations,
    I've been removing some rough edges from my last application and I noticed the
    following: before an application quits every location/size of the top level components
    is written to a file. When the application starts again everything is read back in
    again and the application shows itself just as it was before it closed the last time.
    There's one little quirck though:
    A JFrame can be in one of three states when an application quits:
    1) iconified; nothing is wrong here, i.e. the application comes back on in the same
    iconified state and after de-iconification the JFrame shows up the same as
    before the previous quiting.
    2) 'normal': same as above: the JFrame shows up identical as before quiting
    the application the previous time.
    3) maximized: the new incarnation shows up as a maximized JFrame, but after
    'demaximalization' (sorry) the JFrame keeps its maximum size, i.e. if still fills up
    the entire screen.
    Before quiting I save the bounds, the state and the extended state of a JFrame
    and reinstate these values after a new incarnation of the application. I think I've
    tried all 2^3 == 8 possible permutations of this all, but option 3) keeps giving
    me trouble, i.e. the bounds don't work after 'demaximalization'.
    Ideas anyone?
    kind regards,
    Jos

  • Does the LG Dare require a data plan?

    I have an LG Dare that I would like to use on an existing plan. BUT I dont want to pay for data, so I was wondering since Verizon has changed so much with their plans, does the LG Dare require a data plan in order to use it on my plan? All I use the phone for is calls and unlimited texting, no internet. Why pay for something I will never use?
    ~ Note: My current phone is the LG EnV 2 (no data required on it)...which died completely on me. Hence why Im wanting to switch to my old phone LG Dare.~
    Thanks!

        @turtlegurl86,
    We appreciate you bringing this to the attention of the forum. It is fantastic to see of your proactive nature.
    The LG Dare does not require a data package. If you would like to add a data package. The current data option for the device is $10 / 75 MB.
    I'm sure you will find this information beneficial. It was a great to hear from you.

    Recently upgraded to Mavericks... was working with Pages documents created with previous OS ... Pages is now frozen and I don't dare force quit and loose my old documents.  How can I "thaw".... unfreeze Pages?  Have several pages windows open that I was working on.

    I also had this problem after I installed Mavericks: Pages files freezing at close, need to force quit.
    Workaround: when saving any document created with an earlier version of Pages, be sure to untick the "include preview in document".
    For some reason, this resolves the problem.
    BTW "loose" is not a verb. You probably mean "lose".

  • Iconified Windows

    Hello,
    I have a top level container as follows:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    public class WindowTest extends Window {
       int x = 0;
       int y = 0;
       int xPos = 0;
       int yPos = 0;
       public WindowTest(Frame parent) {
          super(parent);
          this.setSize(200,200);
          this.setBackground(Color.black);
          this.setLocation(200,200);
          this.show();
          addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() {
             public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
              x = e.getX();
                 y = e.getY();
          addMouseMotionListener(new MouseMotionAdapter() {
             public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent e) {
                setLocation(getLocation().x+(e.getX()-x),
                   getLocation().y+(e.getY()-y));
       public static void main( String[] args) {
          new WindowTest( new Frame());
    }I want to add the ability to iconify this window object. Does anyone know how I can add this functionality to the WindowTest class? Can someone point me in the right direction??
    Thank you in advance.

    If you are using 1.4 you might look at the API docs for setExtendedState method for Frame. You can give it an iconified state.
    Possibly you could use an undecorated frame and this method instead of using Window directly.
