ICWC document emailed with no extension or PDF corrupted.

CRM 5.0 SP11.
1. We access a document in the inbox and an attached document exist & agent has visbility to the document in the Document Search (order ack, invoice) saved in CMS as OTF files.
2. Agent can click the hyper link and see the document (Good)
3. Agent can select the document and email, in the ICWC email screen agent can click the attachment and again see the document. (Good)
4. The person receiving the email receives the attachment but their is no extension (.PDF, OTF, etc).  By double clicking on the extension windows ask which program to use and adobe 7.0 reader does open the form but the user has to repeat this action for every email received with an attachment.
We wrote an enhancement to add the .PDF to the email and step #3 works fine to the ICWC user But the receiving email recipient gets the PDF file but when opening the email the PDF is corrupt
" Adobe reader could not open .... is not a supported file type or is corrupted, was sent as email attachment and not properly decoded"
I'm posting here but not sure if this is a SAPconnect issue? Hoping someone else has encountered this. Will give points.

    When I am in a Safari email and it has an attachment (WORD, EXCEL, PDF) and I click on the attachment to open it, it goes to download.
    How can I get the document to open directly into WORD, etc.   I am able to do this when I use Chrome and email.

    I see that mail.app works.    The Preferences > General > Open safe files after downloading  did not help.
    I have no problem opening documents directly with Firefox and Chrome, and was looking for a comparable solution with Safari.

  • Sending email with 2 attachments in PDF Format

    Hi,
    I have 2 ALV Layouts, totally different in Structure.
    Now I need to convert these 2 ALV layout to 2 different PDF files and send email with thses 2 attachments.
    Can anyone provide me with sample report.
    I tried searching  for it  but there is no clue for ALV report-> PDF -> email.
    Thanks
    Mohan

    Hello,
    I doubt if you really searched before posting. You will find many posts indicating how to convert your report output be it ALV or classical into spool and then in to pdf. After you get the pdf binary format, its pretty much the same attaching those and sending E-mail

  • How to print an email with link on a pdf output

    Hi,
    I have requirement to print an email with link like mailto: ...at...com
    I created a hyper link in my text element which created a <%W> ... </> tag. this message in this text element will be sent as a body of an email. I want to know to do the link like I mentioned above. Please let me know this is not clear.
    Thanks,

    Srinivas, Thanks for your quick reply.
    This is smartform, and sending the output as pdf, except the the first page on which I have the text to be printed on the email body. In this email body text I have to display an email.
    when user clicks on the email should open an outlook with the email id in the TO. Hope this helps.
    Thank you,

  • Business catalyst won't let me set up email  with .media extension

    I have this domain - www.thinkchurch.media that I am using with a business catalyst hosted site. It will not let me set up an email with this domain for some reason even though I have the right hosting plan. It says, "This cannot be an email address."

    Hi Bradb725,
    We currently have a bug that the email accounts doesn't allow email accounts with more recent domain extensions. File a ticket or reach out to LiveChat support with a list of mailboxes you want and we can create them from our back-end. You won't be able to see these mailboxes in our Email accounts interface, but they'll work properly once they're created from our backend.
    Thanks,

  • Some email receipients can't open pdf - corrupted file message

    I have sent an email with a pdf attachment created in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to a list of contacts. Most of the contacts are able to open the file with no problems. However, a small percentage are unable to open it, most stating that they are getting a message that the file is corrupted. It clearly isn't as when emailed back to me I can open it no problems.
    Any ideas how I or they can resolve this issue.

    The most likely suspect is that their email provider is using encoding to make the transfer of files faster. This is widely known to corrupt PDF's. To test either post the PDF file online and send them a link or Zip the PDF first then email it. If that works then you've found the problem.
    As for why, when returned to you, they work. I can't say. Are they actually saving the file to their computer, attempting to open it and when it doesn't open, they are attaching THAT file to a new email to you or are they doing something else?
    At any rate, try one of the suggestions above to see if that clears it up.

  • A PDF document with links to other PDFs corrupts the URL and get 404. Works in IE.

    One of our supplier sites has manuals online that are PDF docs with links from one to another. For example, when I click on "Tanaka" I get a PDF menu of Tanaka service manuals, etc. When I click on a section, such as "Chainsaw" I get a 404. Part of the directory structure in the URL is missing. For example when in the Tanaka PDF menu I click on Chainsaw I go to http://www.parklands.net/Resources/Tana%20CSaw%20Menu.pdf which is wrong. It should be http://www.parklands.net/Resources/Tanaka/Tana%20CSaw%20Menu.pdf, and in IE it is.
    == URL of affected sites ==
    http://

    The linked documents will not be automatically converted to PDFs and merged
    with your file, neither in Acrobat Standard nor in Acrobat Pro. You can do
    it, but you'll need to do it manually by converting all the files to PDFs,
    merging them and then adding the links between them.

  • Edit invoice smartform to email with pdf attachment

    Hi,
    I need to send the invoice details by mail that are currently only printed through the edit function.
    When i go to VF02 enter invoice number and then edit, is it possible to send this message through email with the invoice as pdf attachment?
    Also it would be necessary to enter receivers email at that time.
    Maybe there is an exit before the sending that could raise a popup...
    Do you think this can be done this way?
    Thanks,
    Laurent.

    Hi Laurent
    I have done this succesfully in a different way:
    1) Create a Z Table for the email ID per Bill to party  - this table accomodates up to 999 email ids per customer and also has a column for CC
    2) Create a new output type for EMAIL purposes with the Transmission medium as 1 -
    assign the output program and form to this.
    In the program, add new code to refer to the new Z table for getting the email ids of respective Bill to parties
    In the program add code to convert the form to PDF format and attach to the email craeted.
    Your ABAPPER should be able to assist in this code writing - in my case it took some time to get the desired result but the customers are very happy with the end result -
    best wishes

  • Sending PO via email with pdf file extension

    Good afternoon everyone. We are successfully (in testing) sending out Purchase Orders via External Send to an Outlook email address.  When the user receives the email, it appears that SAPConnect (SCOT) is correctly coverting the file to a pdf (I can open it in Adobe Acrobat), yet the file attachment still shows a ".dat" file extension.
    Where in the process do I need to set up SAP not to send the file out with a .dat file extension (in PDF format), but rather with a .pdf file extension (in PDF format).
    Points awarded for good suggestions/comments

    You can use Transaction SCOT to trigger the output manually. The prerequisite for a correct sending is that the node is set correctly.
    To be able to display, for example, the e-mail in Outlook, enter PDF as the format in the node.
    Regards,
    Ashok

  • Firefox downloads PDF with wrong extension instead of opening a websites' PDF viewer

    I have a problem with websites that want to provide their own PDF viewer. Instead of launching their viewer, Firefox wants to download the PDF. I'd be perfectly fine with that ***if it downloaded with the correct .pdf extension so that Preview would actually open the PDF***. But that's not what happens; I end up with something like "RetrieveDocument.aspx" or "Retrieve.srv".
    I've tried resetting my download options (http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions). Didn't help.
    I saw some stuff about other plugins I can install. Here's the thing: *this stuff works fine in Chrome and Safari*. Maybe websites aren't tagging their content correctly or something, but this stuff works fine in two other browsers.

    Hello,
    In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
    #Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
    #In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
    #In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
    #On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • When I try to display .pdf file in browser (with proprietry extension .dnax) I get the error message "A plugin is needed to display this content".

    I am trying to display a .pdf file within Firefox on a Vista PC. I have changed the extension from .pdf to .dnax to differentiate this .pdf file from others. I get an error message as above.
    The file is displayed using Firefox on another PC with a Linux OS without problem.
    Any advice out there?

    Firefox typically judges the nature of a document or download based on the content-type header send by the web server. Usually a server has a catalog associating file extensions with content types. When you choose a new file extension, the server may send the generic "it's some kind of binary file" header ("application/octet-stream") which Firefox will not associate with a particular program.
    Now, when you open a file from the local system, there is no web server, so Firefox may look to the file extension to ascertain the content type. Obviously that is not working in your case. What happens when you want to open the file from My Computer or Windows Explorer? Does Windows have an application assigned to it? If you can associate it with Adobe Reader in Windows, Firefox may be able to pick that up from the Windows registry.

  • Use smart mailbox to find email with specific text in attached pdf

    Does anyone known if a smart mailbox can be created to find emails with specific text within a pdf attached document. I know that spotlight can do this and it works fine but it would suite me better to be able to do this in mail.

    After some digging, I found that Spotlight returns the pdf attachment (found within the library/mail/download folder), but not the actual email. The only time it returns the email is if the search text or numerics are coincidentally within the written contents or subject line.
    Yes, i have tried setting up smart mailbox search criteria using the entire message contents but this does not find emails where the text exist within the pdf.
    I've checked spotlight pref.'s and all categories are checked off.
    Essentally, i need the smartbox search criteria to return results where the search text is found within the pdf attachment if possible. If this is not possible, i'll continue using spotlight searches outside of mail.
    I appreciate any help you can offer.

  • Error in opening draft email saved with msg extension

    I am attempting to create a email and save it on local hard disc. The email is a file having msg extension. So that it can be opened with MS Outlook. Also I want it to be in DRAFT mode. Like we can create draft email with MS Outlook. This message will have multiple attachmets.
    Thus when user opens this file, it will get opened with MS Outlook and user will be able to edit the message text, TO/CC list, attachments.
    I am using MimeMessage.writeTo(Outstream) API to save the message to a file, say C:\test.msg
    But if I double click test.msg in explorer to open it, it gives error:
    Can't open file C:\test.msg. The file may not exist, you may not have permissions to open it, or it may be open in another program.
    Is it possible to create draft Outlook email message with msg extension?
    If yes, how?
    My code:
                   Properties props = new Properties();
                   props.load(new FileInputStream("C:/email.settings.properties"));
                   // create some properties and get the default Session
                   Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props);
                   session.setDebug(debug);
                   // create a message
                   msg = new MimeMessage(session);
                   //Create message from saved email
                   File savedFile = new File("C:/test.msg");
                   // set the from and to address
                   InternetAddress addressFrom = new InternetAddress(from);
                   msg.setFrom(addressFrom);
                   InternetAddress[] addressTo = null;
                   addressTo = new InternetAddress[recipients.length];
                   for (int i = 0; i < recipients.length; i++) {
                        addressTo[i] = new InternetAddress(recipients);
                   msg.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, addressTo);
                   // Setting the Subject and Content Type
                   msg.setSubject(subject);
                   msg.setContent(message, "text/plain");
                   MimeBodyPart attachmentBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
                   DataSource ds = new FileDataSource("C:/WhichSQLServer.pdf");
                   attachmentBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(ds));
                   attachmentBodyPart.setFileName("WhichSQLServer.pdf");
                   Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
                   multipart.addBodyPart(attachmentBodyPart);
                   msg.setContent(multipart);
                   //msg.setFlag(Flags.Flag.DRAFT, true);
                   msg.getFlags().add(Flags.Flag.DRAFT);
                   msg.setFileName("test.msg");
                   msg.saveChanges();
                   FileOutputStream os = new FileOutputStream("C:/test.msg");
                   msg.writeTo(os);
                   os.flush();
                   os.close();

    Outlook Msg files aren't as easy to write as you would believe. They are a propretary format that microsoft uses based on the DocFile format that Word and Excel uses.
    If you did the MimeMessage.writeTo(out) and saved it to a .eml file Outlook Express will open it, but Outlook doesn't directly read this file type.
    I've started on a library to allow the creation of Outlook msg files, right now it only allows you to set text, dates, long, and boolean values on the email message (which means you can set stuff like the recieved date/time, subject, body, to, from, etc), but it does not yet support attachments or extra recipents (CC, BCC, etc). I'll be updating the copy on my site as soon as I get the other stuff working (which isn't as easy as it sounds).
    Priasoft has a library available that can do what you want however.
