ID3 Tags in Creative MediaSou

Is there any way I can convert the tags in my Creative MediaSource library to the ID3 tags in the mp3s themselves? I've spent a whole lot of time tagging thousands of songs in MediaSource, but they can't be played in any other players since they don't have ID3 tags. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

Try selecting all of them in Media Source and then right click on the selection. I thought there was an update ID3 tag or similar option there. I know I have used Media Source to tag my files before. I will take a look when I get home again and see how I did it.

  • Creative Mediasource ID3 Tags - Edit more than one year at a ti

I use a 60gb Zen Xtra with Mediasource. I take pride in the ID3 tags of all my files especially those of my Jazz collection and my player is well organised. The only thing I have to ask is - is there any way of editing the year of, say, an entire album that was recorded in 959 for example all at the same time. It lets me do this for Artist, Album and Genre but not year. Is there any upgrade in software I can get or am I just missing something here?
Thanks in advance for your input,Matt

Shucks, I tried and you can't seem to do it. A curious oversight.
You can either use another copying program like which will let you do it, or simply get a mass tagger (but you will need to edit the tracks on the PC first, then copy). For some mass tagger recommendations look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

  • ID3 Tags, Organizer & Player & M

    Description
I name my mp3's for example
    0 W. K. Mahler - Freedom - W. K. Mahler.mp3
Your ID3 Tag reader reads the above as
    Track 0.mp3
Track 0.mp3 is exactly what is read in the organizier and player (the most updated versions for Audigy 2 ZS).
Do you honestly expect me to go in and edit 9 gigabytes of audio files? No.
How do I/we work around this?
    BTW,
There really is no competition regarding your easy install cards (PCI) here on Cape Cod, MA. USA. Other than integrated audio (and I never find your products intergrated.) ...Do you make intergrated audio in desktops?
    Finally,
At least one dozen independent/small and large makers of audio players for PC/MAC are including decode/encode and or just play of .shn and .flac files.
Do you there at Creative Labs already have "codecs" to be downloaded and installed or are you planning on a major upgrade for audio format compatability. How about video as well?

You have not tagged those mp3 files showing tag information as Track nn.
Try w/ MediaMonkey --> Auto-Tag from Filename -feature.

  • Is there a way to rename files based on ID3 tags? Or, is it possi

to move the files to my computer in another manner that will name them correctly? I couldn't find an option in the Creative Mediasouce program that would allow me to do this.
I have most of my music files on my desktop pc, but want to move them to my laptop. I can use Nomad Explorer to pull them onto my laptop and they retain the id3 tag info, but are simply named by the title of the song. This makes it so that the songs are in alphabetical order in the new folder... I would rather not have to rename them adding a track number to each one as I will be transferring many files.
    Thank you very much!

Well the ID3 tags are fine, as they were correct on the Zen Touch. My problem is just that when you drag-and-drop them from the player to the desktop of the computer, the file name given is only the title of the song (i.e. not track or artist or ablum info.). If there was a way to do it, I would like to change this 'track only name' into at least a 'track number - track name' so that the files are in the correct order for the album in the folder. I thought that this would be easy because the information is already stored in each track's ID3 tag, but I can't figure out how to use this to my advantage. Thanks for your help and sorry if this is confusing.

  • Wrong ID3 Tags On Zen To

    Hi!
I have a problem with writing ID3 Tags directly on my Zen Touch player. If I save info for example about artist to file that is already on player then this info is visible but it isn't correct. Random button do not add this file to playlist, and if I download such file to computer than there is no info in ID3 tag.
I think that it might be problem with new firmware but I can't back to the old one.
    Please help!

[size="2" face="Helv">[size="2" face="Helv">- When you edit (say) the artist of the file in your MP3 player, the tag info of the file (in your MP3 player) is not updated. Only the database in your MP3 player is updated.
    - When you transfer the file from your MP3 player back to PC Music Library, the PC Music Library will be updated with the artist info that you have made in your MP3 player. However, the tag info is not updated.
    - MediaSource v3 and above allow you to update the artist info in the tag based on the artist info that you see in the PC Music Library for that file.
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

  • An id3 tags converting quest

    Hi,
The Zen Touch doesn't use a file-tree-browsing system, so one need proper id3 tags to make the player usable.
I have a lot of music with no id3 tags (ripped from CDs, most of which I do not have), whhere it stays just Track for the name and album and artist and genre ist is just <unknown>. Could someone recommend a program (a freeware one) that could help me put id3 tags on my songs?
    thanx

I believe that you have organized your "tag-less" MP3 files under proper dorectory names and filenames. If that is the case, then Creative MediaSource's Import Wizard can also help you to tag the MP3 files. Just view the PC Music Library of MediaSource. Click Import button.

  • Zen mx 16gb player not recognising id3 tags.

,zen mx 6gb player not recognising id3 tags.I recently bought a zen mx and so far can not get it to recognise over half of my mp3's id3 tags. All of the files are drm free. All of the unrecognised files will play but get stuck in the unknown artist unknown album catagory on the player. I have tried retagging the files in several diffrent tagging softwares and upgraded my player to the newest firmware and nothing seems to work. I had a creative vision m 30gb before I had this player and it never had this problem. I contacted customer support but they didnt seem to have any idea what an Id3 tag was and offered no relavent advice other then upgrade your firmware witch was upsetting to say the least. If anyone has any idea how to fix this that would be awesome. I feel like I just wasted almost 80 dollars.

0Re: zen mx 6gb player not recognising id3 tags. It's just aggravating because I used to talk the company up all the time. The older creative zen's where awesome. They played every file that I had with the exclusion of open source formats like ogg witch is understandable because I'm sure that there is not much demand for that.
I wouldn't be half as upset as I am if I felt like the support people where offering decent suggestions or even an explanation of what may be wrong. I mean are there certain id3 tags that are not recognised? At least try to explain why it may not work to me so that I can fix the problem without having to re-tag every cd that I have purchased since I was fourteen. I don't think I'm going to buy anything from them again until I see that the quality of there products is getting better. Maybe I should write a review on Amazon to warn people away, after all the majority of the music that its having problems with was downloaded from Amazon.com.
Btw if your haning the same problem as me kid3 is a program that will retag your files to this players satisfaction. Not that helps if you have a large volume of music but its at least something.

  • ID3 tags messing tremendously up on ZEN MX

    Hello,
I'm a long time creative user, and had many creative mp3 players up through the years. Never had a problem, and always been greatly satisfied.
But with my latest purchase of a Zen MX I'm a bit confused about the way it handles id3 tags of mp3s.
My main issue is that it doesn't seem to read it properly. It doesn't care about track numbers, and plays my audiobooks in a total shuffle.
Also, when I try to update the tags, the are updated correctly in all my players (foobar, wmp, winamp, vlc) but when I transfer them over to the ZEN MX, it somehow fails to update the player, and the files are still stuck with the old tags, before they were updated.
Ususally I simply transfer the files through windows explorer, but since that didn't work, I've tried to use Creative Centrale, but that's even more hopeless: not finding all the files in an album, also not registering the changes I've made, etc.
Has anyone else had similar issues, and come up with a sollution?
I tried searching the forums, but couldn't find anyone with this problem in particular.

I am having the same problem.
Another long time user (prefering creative over ipods!) and never had any problems with transferring audiobooks onto my player.
Got given this MX for christmas when my last Vision M broke but can not get any audiobooks onto the player in any meaningful way
I cut a book into about 70 mp3 tracks. In my old players I could just transfer them using explorer. I would keep all the artwork, artist and files names and they would be in order.
With this MX I loose all the tag details and the MX will not recognise the "Audiobook" genre
The tracks are in some random order (and shuffle is NOT on)
Track numbers have been lost as well.
    Artwork details has been lost.
    Artists details have been lost.
I use my mp3 player for audiobooks and think that this beautiful player is worse than useless and I dont have the heart to tell my children who bought it for me.
I have tried to change the tags once the files are on the player but nothing works. I have used MediaJukebox, Media player, Explorer and Creative central. All to no avail.
Is there some software update that will fix this problem?
    Please help.
    John

  • Question about Id3-tags and song managem

Hello, I am getting ready to buy a Zen Touch 20GB in a couple of weeks and I have a few questions about the management software.
(Correct me if I am wrong about something)
) Are songs organized into groups by Genre instead of just folders like on the Ipod?
    2) Are Id3-tags used instead of filename for identification?
    3) What parts of the tag are needed besides title and artist?
    4) Which version of tags does the Zen Touch recognize: Version or Version 2?
    5) If I edit my tags using an external program such as Id3-TagIT, will the tags carry over to the Creative software and to the player?
Thanks a lot for your help. I want to make sure I have my music collection in order before I get my Zen Touch.

euph_jay wrote:Ok, so lets say I have all my music in folders right now seperated into different categories on my hard dri've. Some folders denote the artist, some the album, and some a genre. Example: Folder: Chicago Contents: Chicago .mp3 files Folder: Techno Contents: various Techno artist's songs What is the best way of organizing my folder system, so that the transition will be easy to the player?
Folders are pretty much irrelevant. What the software will do is look at the *tags* in the files and then use these to build the player's library.
Will imbedded folders work on the player? (like Techno->Crystal Method->Cystal Method .mp3's)
Again the player has no concept of folders, although if you set Techno as a Genre tag you will be able to view via this in the Music Library.
Or, am I misunderstanding how music is stored into the mp3 player. Instead of storing music in a "folder like" system (like the Chicago folder or Techno folder), does it store all the songs individually on the device? Then you have to sort it by artist, album, or genre?
Using your example, in the Music Library you have essentially three categories: Album, Artist, and Genre. So under Album you would see "Vegas" (the Crystal Method's album), under Artist you would see "The Crystal Method", and under Genre you would see "Techno" (and then either the album or artist under this... I forget which it is offhand).
    Make sense?

  • What version of ID3 tags does the zen xfi use?

I spend more time re-starting my player, and watching the rebuilding progress bar (only for it to fail) than I do actually listening to the **bleep** thing.
I use media monkey to manage my files, and I've set it to only write id3v2. mp3tag reports these as id3v2.3. In the belief and hope that the problem with the player is corrupt tags (which I don't think ought to cause a problem if it were built properly) I've spent hours making sure they're all tidy, cross-checking with mp3tag.
This failed to stop my player crashing several times a day. I reluctantly brought creative media centrale out of retirement to check the tags. This reported that a few of the files had bad tags, although there was nothing visibly different about them in media monkey or mp3tag. When I used the automatic 'fix tags' function in centrale, mp3tag reported that it wrote id3v tags.
So, as per the subject line, does anyone know what version of id3 tags the player actually supports?

i really have no problems with this one. but i still am interested with the a detailed answer to this one too.

  • ID3 tag editor on MP3 play

    Hi all,
How is it possible to change the ID3 tag info on your mp3 player itself?I own a Vision:M but if you need to select the folder/removable disk with the Creative Media Toolbox (Auto Tag Cleaner) the Vision:M doesn't appear as a removable disk, but when I open 'My Computer' it is shown as an 'Audio-Device'...
    All help is welcome !
    Greatz, Von Belgium

    Scratch that!
I just found out how to edit tags already on your player. Basically connect your player to your pc, open up Mediasource, and right click the song you want to change and click Properties. There you can change the fields and the changes will show up on the player.
Check out epizenter.net in a little while. I'll be making a picture guide for this.

  • ID3 Tags on Zen Mi

I use MP3Tag to tag all my mp3's, and the Zen Micro media explorer to transfer them. But for some reason, my TRACK ID3 tags go AWOL after transfer. This also occurs in the Audio Converter - help?

There is a newer MediaSource v3.30.2, although the latest version also cannot read Unicode track number. nevertheless, it has fixed a few other tag issues. So, it is worth the upgrade.
    <FONT face=Helv size=2>
Here is what you should do:
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site. Make sure that you install this first before installing the rest of the MediaSource plugins listed below.
    - (Depending on your product and firmware)
For non-PlaysForSure Zen series: Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
    or:
For PlaysForSure Zen Micro: Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) from your product download site.

  • What ID3 Tag version is ok for Sleek and MediaSour

    Hi,
I've ripped all my music in iTunes, included album art and converted all to ID3 Tag version 2.4. The import wizard for the player/MediaSource isn't geting any useful info my songs though, now that I have a Sleek, such as album, artist etc. What do I do? I've 25 GB of music meticulously stored up and now I can't use it properly until MediaSource can import the tag info into its database!!
What ID3 Tag version is ok?
Is there anything else I can do?
Any other help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gav

    Hi guys,
I got it to work, thanks to yourself Mr Mouse.
It appears that MediaSource and the Sleek import wizard WILL NOT read ID3 v2.4 tags but the wizard WILL read v2.3 tags, when they have been created in iTunes. To solve the problem I converted my entire music library from v2.4 to v2.3 using the same iTunes menu action thingie I used to make them all 2.4 in the first place, as was suggested to me.
The mp3s are transferring as we speak and so far all is good.
I was really worried all that music would be unusable but fortuantely the above worked. It looks like creative are behind in implementing ID3v2.4 support. Their products are always fantastic, the sound always incredible but the softare always lagging.....
The documentation and FAQ should make specific mention to the ID3 tag versions supported, it would be helpful.
    Thanks for the help,
    Gav.

  • "Radio Industry" ID3 Tagging on Soundbooth?

I'm hoping someone from Adobe can tell me if it's possible to include the ID3 tag info labeled "radio industry" in Cool Edit/Adobe Audition that's been around for years when saving files in Soundbooth CS4?  As I'm sure you're aware, a huge number of radio professionals utilize the encoding on the "radio industry" tab to pass intro/queue information (as well as title/artist/times, etc) into one of several different on-air automation systems. (In particular for us, Simian).
If this important feature (to radio, at least) was not included in this release of the product, can it not be easily integrated into the metadata options in the near future? I must say, I'm surprised to see metadata formats for such a diverse and seemingly far-flung industries such as medical records (?), but not the very basic needs of the radio industry, which is so dependent on Adobe Audition. I would think that this one small feature would open up a huge potential sellable demographic of users for Soundbooth in the future who simply cannot use the product today. (And if I'm mistaken and that tagging is indeed available, please accept my apology and point me in the right direction!)
    Thanks so much.

Only a few of the "Radio Industry" tags are applicable to existing ID3 tags.  I think even when exporting to MP3 in Audition, only a subset of the RIFF/XMP/Radio tags are applied to ID3.  Other file formats do offer better support for these tags.  Are you exporting to MP3, MP2, or WAV?
I'll submit it as a feature request for Soundbooth, though.  The primary metadata model in Soundbooth and the other Creative Suite applications is XMP which is pretty modular and allows for just about any chunk of metadata to be added.  There are a few standard metadata specs out there and by default, a lot of the fields don't apply to all forms of media.  Definitely watch for improvements to be made in this area in all Adobe applications as they're placing a pretty big stake on metadata and its potential for media.
