IDE problems

There are a couple of problems with the IDE that were
acceptable in Beta releases, but should have been fixed for the
Release.
1. The compiler (builder) reports each problem 3 times. A
minor problem, but one would think easy to fix??
2. IDE crashes during builds. It is hard to tell what is
going on when the crash occurs but it may be related to thread
timing issues?? It seems to happen more often if I start a build
right after doing a save or save all. Also if I do a clean after
starting the IDE the odds appear to increase for a crash. I know
that's not much help. However it is frustrating because sometimes
after I get a crash I can't get a clean [non-crach] build until I
reboot, which is a pain.

Hi David. If you have been using any previous Beta release of
Flex or FlexBuilder, we strongly recommend that you discard any
Workspaces and Projects that were created with those previous
releases (of course don't throw away your source code!). After you
create a new workspace and project, see if the problems go away. If
not, could you give some more details on what you're seeing - what
is the exact text of the problem that's being reported 3 times,
what is the line of source code that causes the problem, any other
info that you think might help us understand the problem.
If you are still seeing crashes then could you give us the
exact text of the crash message.

K8N Neo4-FI Major IDE-problems (Only Pio on some disks)

Just registered so hello everybody!
I just got me a new rig which is seen in my sign. It took me a long time to figure out that you couldn't install Win on the Sata drive without having all of the IDE disks offline, but eventually I think I read that somewhere here and made a successful installation of the incredible Win XP .
When I was finished with installing I connected all the IDE-drives (Ch01: Seagate 160GB as master and Seagate 300GB as slave; Ch02: Seagate 80GB as master and NEC DVDRW as slave - all jumpered properly) it took me an even longer while to figure out that IDE wouldn't work at all with the supplied (and/or downloaded) Nvidia drivers. But I read that somewhere here too.
Now my rig is pretty much set up, but not working as it should - and when you've just spent some 800 Euros on a new comp you don't want to engage in compromises.
Problem is that having the IDE drives connected (regardless of configuration) makes the boot time incredibly long, while with only the SATA drive connected it is very rapid. But the problems doesn't stop there...
The slave on Channel 1 (the 300GB) and the master on Channel 2 (the 80GB which is not on the controller card) are both ran in PIO mode, and this seems impossible to change. I have read a lot about IDE problems with the Nvidia chipsets on this forum including what is in the FAQ and other places about how You should config your IDE drives to have them work properly but nothing seems to work. I'm beginning to consider sending MSI an angry e-mail telling them what I think about this bullsh*t.
Does anyone have an idea apart from what has been written and explained already on this forum (I'm pretty certain that I've read it all).

I'm suspecting that they f***ed everything up at first but I'm not sure. I'd be ripping my hair off if I reinstall Windows and the problem remains.
I also invested in hi-quality ATA cables from Thermaltake recently, no difference though.
Any input (on topic) would be appreciated.

What a coincidence, I happen to be having a similar issue. My sec HDD (maxtor) appears on Computer Managment/Disk Managment as "unallocated" as well.
I have tried any trick that I know of without any success. Reading your post gave me the idea of buying an expansion card. However, I refuse to spend the money on something that should work in the first place.
I strongly belive that the issue here lies on the mobo itself, as I have been able to get it to work on only one IDE conector.

K8N Neo Platinum IDE problem

I got everything installed just fine and all is well booting into windows. I then install all the chipset drivers on the cd and reboot. The next time I put a cd in my rom to install a program it takes forever for it to read the cd and also windows gets really slow. I spent a while trying to figure out what was wrong and finally reinstalled windows again. And again same thing, as soon as I install the chipset drivers my Rom goes wack and windows is super slow. So I uninstalled the IDE drivers that the disk installed and let windows install its own drivers and WAAA LAAA problem solved. By the way I use a sata hard drive and the only thing on the ide is my dvd burner. Thats the only optical drive I have. Anybody else have this problem? I even tryed the new 5.10 drivers and same thing.

I've had ide problems with the nforce ide drivers. The windows set always has worked for me. I had to try a few different versions and ended up having version 5.10.2600.412 work for me.
If you are deadset on nforce drivers then that may help if you try other versions but if not the windows drivers seems to not have any problems.

K7T Turbo LE IDE problem?

I'm stuck here. I have an AMD Athlon 1400/266 (T-bird) running on the K7T Turbo Limited Edition mainboard, BIOS version 3.6. 512 MB PC133 SDRAM. 2 Maxtor HD's. My system is about 2 years old.
In the last 2 months, the following has started to happen:
Occasionally (say, 1 out of 10 attempts), my PC won't boot (DISK_BOOT_FAILURE). I know this in advance because when it happens, it gives two short beeps when powered up (can't find the meaning of them :O ).
The problem is: sometimes the Primary Master is gone ("none"), but other times, it's the primary slave. In that case, the PC will boot but behaves very strange once WinXP is started. And sometimes, both master and slave show up as "None" ?(
The optical drives on IDE2 are detected at all times.
D-Bracket is all green. I reseated the IDE cable with no result. Tested both the Maxtor HD's, no errors.
So, what now? Any ideas?

Just came back from my holiday so I ran some more tests.
First, I checked the drives one at a time using the PowerMax utility. 81GB slave is fine (tested alone).
40GB master is fine 9 out of 10, 10th time it says "Please Perform extended diagnostics" and then it reports "Congratulations, your drive passed all tests!"
A little weird....
Looks like failing drive, but could this also be IDE controller communication failure?
I also tried replacing the 80pin IDE cable with a 40pin cable which is brand new. This makes no difference other than slower system speed.
Maxtor website has no info, MSI same story.
Now what??? ;(

JDeveloper IDE problems with google Calendar development libraries

I am using JDeveloper as an IDE for developing the google calendar events.

Instead of ANT to run the sample code, I am using JDeveloper IDE and added all required libraries from sample and source code.
Still I am getting weird error as Error(22,29): GDataRequest$RequestType not found in enum com.google.gdata.client.Service.GDataRequest.RequestType in class com.google.gdata.client.GoogleService in class com.google.gdata.client.calendar.CalendarService in class project1.CalendarTest

Problem is solved by changing jdeveloper Compilat settings.
Checked the checkbox of 'Use Javac'.
and then compile the project. It will get compiled.

Please Help. NetBeans IDE Problem + rt.jar. Trouble compiling MIDlets.

Hi all. For the past few weeks I have undertaken learning Java for mobile devices. I am having a slight problem with NetBeans 5.5 which I would appreciate help in fixing.
Currently installed on my system:-
- Wireless Toolkit 2.5
- NetBeans IDE 5.5 + Mobility Pack
- j2sdk1.4.2_13
- jdk1.6.0
- jre1.6.0
- javaee sdk5_02
(So pretty much every Java application!)
Now the problem. Basically, if I import the following at the beginning for my MIDlet...

import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import java.sql.*;... the java.sql has red line underneath saying "package does not exist". Now, what I found is that I need to import .jar files into the Library section. I managed to fix the javax.servlet package and some others, by importing the correct .jar files, but I found that to remove the red line for java.sql I need rt.jar.
However, this is located under one of my jre folders and not the j2me / jdk folders I have. Even though it removes the red line, when I compile the project I keep receiving "PREVERIFY" errors and "CONSTANT POOL" errors.
Yet, if I remove the rt.jar file, these go away, but it won't compile then because it says the package is missing (back to square one!).
So, any ideas please??? I have spent days and days just adding random .jar files to try and fix the problem but to no avail. An example of current imported .jar files in NetBeans:-

- midpapai.zip
- jdbc.jar
- servlet.jar
- runtime12.jar
- classes12.jar
- ojdbc.jar

well... J2ME world is quite diffirent from usual Java. Actually you will not be able to use much of the staff, that you have imported, including java.io.* (it will be only available in CDC), java.servlet.*, java.servlet.http.*, java.sql.*
So don't even try to find where are those packages are located....
Try from simple tutorial like:

JDeveloper IDE problems

I have a couple of persistent problems with the IDE:
i) I repeatedly get access violation errors and instances where the IDE just hangs, usually when I am just editing code.
ii) When I run an app from within the IDE the javaw.exe does not terminate when I terminate the app. A new javaw.exe gets added each time I run the app.
... and how do I control its hunger for memory ...

What OS and how much free memory do you have (before launching JDeveloper)?
It it best with at least 128 MB all to itself (more is better).
I typically run it on an NT machine with at least 256 MB of base RAM. This machine doesn't have a local RDBMS, if that were the case you would need to really double that (to 512 MB) for smooth operation. If you also have OAS running, add whatever it requires onto that as well. If you have a machine with all 3, you better have at least the 512 MB... I suppose tuning the SGA size on the RDBMS could allow for better numbers, but I don't no of any way to reduce the OAS or JDeveloper memory requirements...

IDE Problem

I have write an application that use a master-detail class as superclass of my JInternalFrames
The m-d(master-detail) class is a JPanel with 2 to JPanels as fields
When i subclass the m-d i have notice that it's no way to drag and drop a JComponent from the ide's component palette because the code that the ide generate is:
getConentPane().add(...); -in NetBeans
this.add(...); -in JDeveloper
and i want the component to be added to de "detail" Panel.
the work around in NetBeans was to override the getContentPane() method in superclass to return the "detail" field.
but in JDeveloper i never find a way to resolve that.

this problem is also in Visual Age and there exists a solution!
Are the all IDEs stupid ? So few people use superclasses with containers and it's no need for this feature?
Anyway in NetBeans the solution work only for 1 container.
After i generated the beanInfo for my superclass the IDE (both NetBeans and JDev) is capable to draw the ancestor components to my subclass. So why is a BYG problem to generete the a code like this.detail.add(...)?

It's not advanced it's ESSENTIAL and is not possible to write by hand because the NetBeans regenerate the code.....
or "by hand" means to write
setBounds(217,131,24,37)??????????

Installing Mobile Plug-Ins in the IDE problem

I try to install the IDE plugin Mobile in SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio by following the help of SAP. My problem is in the installation of the mobile application for laptops I can not find the folder \ Program Files \ SAP \ IDE \ CE \ eclipse \ plugins \ com.sap.tc.ap \ comp, and I can not find the default.confdef file

Please let us know whether you are using NWM 7.1 or 7.3
If you are using 7.3, then you cannot find these files. The procedure is different from that of 7.1, just you need to extract all the plugins into the eclipse plugin folder.

JavaFX plugin for Eclipse IDE problem with installation

In my Eclipse IDE "Install new software" -> "Add site" the link http://javafx.com/downloads/eclipse-plugin/ is not recognized as valid software site.
I receive message:

Please help me to install JavaFX plugin for Eclipse.

I am using Eclipse because my company uses it. I used to Eclipse. However when it comes to test some new technologies form Java world I see problems.
Oracle drives Java development - they launched GlassFish, Netbeans, JavaFX.... etc. Eclipse has to catch up with every new thing but it takes time.
Assuming NetBeans developers are in better situation. Easy Glassfish integration, embeded support for JavaFX....

Funny how you rant about all that and still demand answers about Eclipse in the Oracle Java forum.
This has nothing to do with how Eclipse advances; "Eclipse" is only the bare IDE and a minimal set of plugins. Basically everything that you bolt onto it is a third party, or "home made" plugin. Some plugins will be updated quickly, others more slowly depending on how active the developers are. Its just how Eclipse works. At least try this alternative plugin, perhaps it is usable until a better supported solution opens up for Eclipse. Or use Netbeans. Or use command line tools. Be a true engineer - adapt to the situation and get the job done.

NWDS IDE Problem - Unable to associate activity

There is no configuration found for com.tssap.dtr.client.eclipse.ui.treeBrowser.OpenActivityView view. Empty TreeInput provider will be used.

Hi Kenny,
I changed the name of .metadata folder and started the IDE. I am able to login to dtr. But the Open activity view is showing up Offline. the DTR console shows the following error:

KT4-Ultra IDE Problem

i've been running a kt4-ulta with barton 2500+ which most of the time runs fine but every now and again the comp doesn't boot "primary master boot fail" so when i go into the bios the hard drive has the name muddled up (instead of "maxtor" it has something like "atxmor") the only way i can seem to fix this is by clearing the cmos but im now getting a bit sick of re-doing all my settings. i was wondering if this is a common fault or my board is f***ed.
any help would be great

Sound & IDE Problem

I have a 925x with P4 550, 1gb 533mhz ...
if I install a HD on the raid ide and try to play a avi file... the result is noice from the internal sound card and delays of 1 to 2 sec.
If i play the same file from my c: drive (connected to the primary IDE) play well...
Also I try to run corecenter without any good result... PC Alerts it is telling me that of the voltage is supposed to be between 10.0v to 13.0v and said 5.xxv ???
any ideas...

it would seem that this problem is across all the 925x boards as
my friend has the same rig as me and the same problem on hisi have downloaded the latest drivers and updated them.
I am using winxp sp2(althought i think that for once this isnt the problem)
IDE channles are set to auto in device manager so they are running dma.
I am going to buy a pci raid controller for now till the problem is identified and fixed by MSI

Unsolved IDE problem

IDE2 SLAVE IBM GXP180 120GB @PIO Mode4
Installed latest SiS ide drivers and enabled smartdisk in setup. Im using 80pins cables on both ide.
I just cant make ide2 run @UDMA Mode5, if i check SiS ideutil it says supported Mode:UDMA Mode5.
What to do?

Tried that now, didnt work. Uninstalled drivers for ide2. Did it 2 times and i cant still make ide2 run in UDMA Mode5.
Suggestions?

KT4 : IDE problems

Hi there,
I have bought a KT4 Ultra (6712, I believe) on friday. Everything was fine except that after 3-4 hours my OS (WinXP, no SP) froze and the bios wouldn't detect my hard drives plugged on IDE1 after that. I let the system cool down and a few hours later, the bios discovered my drives without any problem. The OS was completely screwed up so I decided to restore a Ghost image of my system partition. The fact is during the restore (made from a Norton DOS program installed on a bootable floppy), the program froze and when I rebooted the whole thing, the bios didn't find my drives again !
So from that moment, the things go that way : either the bios detects my disks plugged on IDE1 and the system freezes after a random amount of time, either it does not detect anything. My hard drives seem OK and work on my old motherboard (ABIT KT7A with Athlon T-Bird 1 GHz). The CD player plugged on IDE2 works fine and is detected every time.
More about the problem : there's a slight beep sound that seems to come from the motherboard when the bios does not detect the disks. It does not come from the PC speaker and I have no idea what it is, it's kinda weird.
My system :
MSI KT4 Ultra (6712)
Athlon XP 2000+
512 DDR RAM
300W power supply
60 GB IBM hard drive (master, IDE1)
15 GB Seagate hard drive (slave, IDE1)
Memorex MAXX1240 CD player (IDE2)
...other PCI/AGP cards and USB peripherals (I can post them if you need, it's just that I'm not sure it will help )
