Idea for Adobe....SELL FREEHAND!!

Question

Face it...both these programs were at their best when they
had a good healthy competition going. So, how about it Adobe? Maybe
enough of us Freehand lovers could take it off your hands and get
that competition going again!

As to whether FH will ever be updated, I doubt Adobe is doing
much more than letting this place exist because it's a safe way to
let frustrated FH users vent... and vent and vent.

But I'd like to address a few points some of you have brought
up.
I don't think Apple has any compelling reason to create a
vector illustration tool. All their iApps address interests that
have a broad-based appeal; I just don't see a vector app having the
same clout. It's a more specialized tool with an appeal for sign
makers, graphic designers and cartographers. As cool as those
professions are, their numbers pale compared to how many run around
with a digital camera, or who like to mix their own music
selections.
But even if Apple decided to release an Apple-branded vector
app, why would they buy such creaky old code? They'd be better off
doing something from scratch, something that takes full advantage
of modern chip-sets and OS'. Were Apple to show interest in
snagging the bedraggled remains of FreeHand, it still begs the
question: doesn't it take two parties: a seller as well as a buyer?
Why does anyone still think Adobe is ever going to sell FreeHand,
period?
As for those of us grimly vowing to use FH in Classic mode
until our teeth fall out, well, right on. Good luck with that, I
say! Me, I'm looking for something I can use well into the future.
Whether that solution is provided by Adobe, Apple, or someone else
altogether, I really don't care - as long as it works on a Mac and
is an excellent alternative to Illustrator I expect I'll be a happy
camper.
And as to whether or not Adobe one day drops Mac development
of its apps, the way things are going recently that will be a cold
day in, ahhhhh, Hades. The Mac platform is more viable and popular
than ever before. Adobe abandoning it would be a moronic move. Not
that it couldn't happen but... I don't see it any time soon.
I hope that at least some of the dismay and anger on this
board will dissipate once Adobe rolls out CS3 and we get to see
what goodies have been injected into the new Illustrator.
