Identifying colors in Color palette in Keynote

Hi! I'm new to Keynote and trying to figure out how to identify the color number/values (RGB, CMYK, hex number, ANYTHING!) of a color in the Colors palette. I'm also wondering whether there's a way to type in the color values of the specific color I want vs. just using the slider to approximate it.
Is this possible?
Thanks very much for your help!
Margaret

Thanks so much! I have no idea why I'm not seeing those things, but I'll try to figure out what's wrong with my system.
Much appreciated!
Margaret
Margaret, if you select the colour sliders, the
palette should show you the numeric values that the
sliders have, and let you directly change those
values. Furthermore, you can select what colour
model the sliders use (gray scale, RGB, CMYK, HSB).
If you aren't seeing the values in the sliders
palette, then something is likely wrong with your
system.
(By the way, here's a colour palette tip that many
folks might not know -- you can add any colour on
your screen to your palette by using the small
magnifying glass in the colour palette -- click on it
once, and it will change your cursor into a
magnifying glass; click again, and the colour in its
crosshair becomes the palette's selected colour.
If you like this, but want more control, or hex
values for RGB, the DigitalColor Meter application,
in the Utilities folder in Applications, will allow
you to determine the average colour of a spot of a
specified size.)

I created a Word doc that simply has the word "Blue" in blue, then a space, then the word "Red" in red, all in the default font that Word started with (Times New Roman). The resulting document is 24,064 bytes. It starts off with 80 bytes of various hex values, mostly 0x00.Then 432 bytes of just 0xFF. Then 2048 bytes of various hex values, mostly 0x00. Then the text "Blue Red" (which appears twice more in the file). And so on...

When coloring an animation, Flash crashes on me every 3 minutes or so, when picking a color with color picker (first displaying wrong color). Or when choosing a color from color palette or color popup in a tool. It sometimes works, but often crashes when doing one of these things.
Is there a fix for this i didn't find?

  • Identifying three different colors within a single image

    Hello everyone,
I recently begun a project which requires me to process the image from a USB camera, and could use some assistance.
Once I get the image I need to determine the center of mass for three different colors within this image. Although this seems to be a relatively straight forward task I ran into a roadblock right off the back.
This roadblock relates to how to properly isolate each of the colors from the image without using too much memory. My original structure had the USB image coming in, and then I would process that image for the three different colors. Unfortunately, this required using a total of four instances of IMAQ create. (One for the acquisition, and three for all of the color threshold images). Although this works it seems a bit inefficient.  Allocating memory for 4 RGB U32 images uses a lot of memory!
Visual snippet attached below for aiding explanation
So in a nut shell, I’m wondering if there is any way to improve this, and decrease memory usage. My First thought was to only use two IMAQ create (one for acquisition and one for processing) then, iteratively (for loop, or something of that nature) run the processing image through a processing loop with different threshold parameters for each iteration.  My worry is that this will significantly add to the latency of my program.
Are there any others ways to do this that I am missing, or am I on the right track? If you have any suggestions they would be much appreciated.

    Patrick,
The example you linked does have some characteristics of the system I wish to create. Unfortunately the example does not go into much detail about "labeling particles" by their color value. I have a strong understanding of how image particle analysis works. But fall short when is comes to the most efficient way of doing this. This is more of a optimization question, rather than a image analysis query.
Here is an explanation of what I'm trying to do.
In plain English, I want to input an image and find the center of mass of three color, or color ranges.
    Suppose I had this image;
And I want to calculate the center of mass for the Red, Green, and Blue disks. I also need to differentiate the different center of masses. Red_Center(x,y), Green_Center(x,y), Blue_Center(x,y). In a nutshell, Input Image >> Output Three Coordinates.
What I'm trying to figure out is the quickest and most effective way of calculating these values with minimum memory usage. As stated earlier if I process the image for Red, Green, and Blue centers in parallel it would require allocating an image location for each color. This would cause an enormous memory overhead. (1600 X 1200 X 32 bit X 3) Far too much!!!
So I'm looking at a way of accomplishing this without stretching my memory resources dry. I thought that if I put the processing in a For Loop and input an array of Threshold values. (Red, Blue, Green), (1D X 3) then it would process Red, and begin autoindexing the centers. Then it would it would iterate again and process Blue, and likewise index the centers of mass...
Is this the right way to do that, I am a self taught LabVIEW enthusiast so I do not have much experience when it come to building complex applications that require explicit memory management.
    Thanks,

  • How do I auto set stroke weight, stroke colors & fill color?

    Hi,
I'd like to make it easier for our 100,000 designers to use AI to make custom products using a laser cutter.
    Current Practice
Designers open our AI laser cutting design templates, add their designs using the AI settings our online pricing system can read, then upload their designs to our website for instant pricing, making and shipping.
    The Problem
Designers have to manually setup AI with settings that can be read by our online pricing system. If they get these settings wrong, our system can not read their designs. So they are rejected and can not be priced or made. This happens more often that you'd imagine.
    The Solution
Designers do not like design rejections. So I'd like to eradicate them by providing our designers with a version of AI that provides the following settings only:
    * Set document to RGB
    * Stroke weight = 0.01mm
    * Stroke colors = RGB 0, 0, 255 and 255, 0, 0
    * Fill color = RGB 0, 0, 0
This will mean designers have a very limited number of AI choices, with nothing to distract them or to get wrong. Which will result in less (or zero?) design rejections. And products made faster than before. Rejoice!
    Question
How do we program our AI laser cutting design templates so that when they are opened in AI, they auto set AI settings as defined above?
    Thanks so much.

Your first point - yes, that's what our system does currently. As a result designers get lots of 'how to fix' messages as a result of design rejections. We wish to reduce these rejections and resulting 'how to fix' messages by limiting their choices in AI - because this is where the problems are created.
Ok, yeah gotcha, so customers/designers think they do it right (cough/laugh) upload, then get surprised to find out they didn't by your upload system. That's kind of what I thought. I feel your pain. ;-) I sense you want to reduce this aspect to keep the customers/designers happy and thinking they do nothing but work magic all day right? ;-) So you don't want to lose customers in the midst of frustration of file rejection thinking there files are right and your system is certainly wrong, when in fact it's the opposite. Good luck explaining that to a designer however, right? ;-)
    Ponoko wrote:
Your second point - You go on to talk about using a complex "action" we could distribute within the design templates. Although I suspect this is different, the path we're thinking is to include something in the templates that, when imported into AI, sets AI with the color palette we need, line weight we need. Possible?
As Monika hinted at you can't rigidly restrict or control what a user is allowed to do and use in Illustrator. You can try to reduce the parameters by saving the file as a Template.ait file, but even then they can muck about all day until they mess things up again, plus you have no control whatsoever even then as to whether they use fills, the stroke weights, etc. That is why I mentioned various things to manipulate the file once they deem it completed and ready to submit/upload. Basically a method to fix what they messed up or did incorrectly and instead set things as they should be for submission as I previously mentioned. I mentioned you may be able to create a complex Illustrator "action" action.aia that they run to process these requirements. I am not sure if such an action could be accomplished as all inclusive (perhaps though) otherwise you could as stated do it through scripting and a script they run: script.jsx to prepare the requirements, or an actual standalone helper app you create and provide like I mentioned above as well.
I see for CorelDRAW & Inkscape you require SVG, why not change that for Illustrator also so all your 2D app submissions are SVG based? Then manipulate the SVG server side, point out the changes and why and have the customer approve the new modified SVG Preview of the needed changes and move along with the process from there? Make all the requirement changes on the server by manipulating the SVG. You should have access to all of the requirements: RGB color model, stroke weight, stroke colors, fill colors, create font outlines, image tracing? I am just tossing out ideas here, get your programmers busy, tell them to stop playing video games and "make it so". ;-)
But even so, this then begs the question: What are you doing to circumvent the same issues for inept CorelDraw and Inkscape users?
Since, they have the same freedom to do things incorrectly and misaligned with the requirements, just as Illustrator users do.
Regardless though of the approach customers/designers may not like seeing certain things changed even minutely in trivial amounts and thusly be just as upset or up in arms with the changes to their pretty design files that they think were not needed in the first place, how dare you undermine them ;-). Same as seeing the file rejection from your system upon upload. Again I feel your pain. You have your Application/File requirements requirements stated nicely and plainly, it should be pretty easy for most, but sadly I guess not.

  • Color picker color does not match object color - CS3

Hi - in RGB Illustrator doc, when I select RGB color in color picker and assign to object, the color in the object is not the same as the color I selected from the color picker.
I think its related to view>>proof colors because if I proof using my LCD monitor colorspace, the color in the object and the color picker match but then they don't match the color in the palettes color box.
But that's a kludge because ultimately I want to proof color onscreen using my color printer profile.
has anyone seen this? Never had this problem with CS2.
    Using CS3 with Leopard.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What you describe we recognized in Photoshop. We solved the issue going to the Paint Bucket Tool.
There you can select e.g. Anti Alias, Contiguous, All Layers. With selecting (ticking) the option 'All Layers' the problem was solved. The options Anti Alias and Contiguous were already selected.
    Good luck!!!

  • Forms Color Utility -- Color.fmb download

Just for kicks, I have created a form that lets you create any color available to the computer environment. On the canvas, I built a copy of the Forms Builder color palette, as well as a 9 x 9 matrix with variables so you can blend any color possible.
Although there are some differences between Client/Server and Web Forms, it works in Forms 6, 9 and 10. I have a web page with a picture of its screen and a short write-up. You are welcome to download the fmb and give it a try.
There is an on-line help canvas (click the "?" button) to help you use all its features.
The Web page is here: http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~stevec/color
    Have fun!
<font color="red">Update: </font>One warning, however -- It does not work with early versions of Forms 6i (6.0.8.8.0 - 6.0.8.11.3) You MUST apply the Forms 6i patches in order to run it. I use it regularly with my Forms 6i with patch 17 applied: (version is 6.0.8.26.0)

I have updated the COLOR.fmb color creator form. With more work, I found that Web Forms will generate about 48 custom colors before it quits and uses colors only in the palette. The new version reflects this, and gives a notice when you reach the limit.
Martin, I'll add the on-logon trigger in the next update -- but I'll also provide some logon logic, too, so you can use the GO button to call a new form. Otherwise the new form gets ORA-3114 (not connected).
I also added an odd/even choice to change the rgb color numbers created -- web forms uses even numbers, while client/server uses odd numbers.
The new COLOR.fmb can be downloaded at:

  • Acrobat does not load "Edit\Preferences\Color Management\Color Setup" properly.

When you convert a CMYK document with DeviceCMYK color space to profile, Acrobat X/XI Pro does not take the Working Space selected in "Edit\Preferences\Color Management\Color Setup" as the source space of DeviceCMYK object properly. But, after you change the "Settings" to any other setting (Like Jappan General Purpose 2) and confirm, and then change back to your wanted setting, thus, Acrobat will take the Working Space to convert color correctly. I tryed this many times, it reapears every time. It looks like that Acrobat does not load the "Color Setup" properly. Is there any one knows the reason of the problem? Is this a bug of Acrobat?

Could this only be a problem with clean installs of CS3?

  • Custom colour palette in Keynote for iOS?

Is there some workaround that would let me create a custom colour palette in Keynote for iOS? Importing a PPT slide seems to change the palette, so I assume it's possible, but I don't want to have to use PPT just to set up Keynote! Ideally, I'd like to be able to import a Kuler palette into the iOS app using only the iPad (I don't have a Mac).

    FOUND THE SOLUTION:
I had this same problem and this resolved it for me:
-Go to your "Settings" icon and click on the "General" tab.
-About 2/3 way down the page you will see "Use side switch to:" - make sure "mute" is checked rather than "lock rotation."
-Then make sure the side switch, located next to the volume toggle switch on the side of your ipad, is moved to the right (no red dot showing).
My audio worked fine in embedded videos after I did those two things.  Hope it works for you.

Hello all.. I was wondering if there was some utility out there that can tell me how to best match colors for design of sites? www.doggsonline.com

    Hi Dog Lover!
Have you had any luck finding information since your original posting?
There are resources on the internet that offer those with normal color vision a glimpse at what colors a color deficient observer might perceive, but I haven't heard of any tools for doing the reverse...
The actual in-the-brain process of color sensation isn't fully understood yet, so anything that simulates what someone with color deficiency might see is an educated guess at best.
Check out www.colorhelper.com. There's a software product called the eyePilot that allows you to distinguish a single color apart from any others on a web page or other sources of visual media. I don't know how accurate it is, and I haven't tried it myself, but there's a trial version available so perhaps it could be useful.
Your best bet would be to have someone you know with normal color vision check your web pages and give you feedback on what colors work well together. You can also check color coordinate values (RGB, Lab, etc.) on images in Photoshop by using the eyedropper tool and the "INFO" information window.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to change the color picker/color space view?

I wanted to change the color picker/color space view to what it looks like in the other Adobe programs. I have gotten used to using the color picker from the other programs and I have had problems with the look and function of this color view.
In InDesign the color picker looks like this:
And the Photoshop/Illustrator/etc. looks like this:
I've tried changing the "Convert To Profile..." and the Transparency Blend Space, but neither have done anything to what I want to be done.
Is there some way to change this in InDesign?
Note: I want to change the looks of the gradient-like area if that isn't obvious.

I was wanting to do the same change as you, until I saw your two images.
Within the InDesign image you've selected a dark blue colour (R:16, G:49, B:152)  AND you've got the (R)ed channel selected.
Within the Photoshop image you've selected a white colour(R:255, G:255, B:255)  AND you've got the (H)ue channel selected.
In Photoshop I can recreate both of your images by having the same settings for RGB/CMYK and selecting the same channel item as you have in those images.
    That's all.
There is no difference between the two colour selection dialogs except where the HSB, RGB, CMYK and LAB are placed.

  • Selecting multiple colors in color wheel?

If i select an object with multiple colors then go into the color wheel/color guide the colors are connected so you can spin them and they stay relative and so on, but is there a way to select more than one color handle so you can move them at the same time, say if you wanted to take a few and make them lighter or darker? I know there are hue/sat plug ins that might work for this, but I thought i'd check with the adobe community first. Thanks!

Not on the wheel, but you can change the sliders below in the Recolor Artwork dialog box.
